Chapter 22
Chapter 22- Finding the Truth
You were having your head nuzzles by Tenzin as you waited for Lin and the officers to search all of the warehouses.
"I can't believe we didn't find anything," Korra groaned.
"It would appear Hiroshi is innocent," Lin concluded as Asami and Mako walked up to you four.
"Okay, you did your search. Now you can all leave," Asami huffed angrily.
"Hmm," Lin hummed as Mako pulled Korra away.
"I guess my senses are still out of my bounds," You mumbled, still feeling a bad aura from Hiroshi.
"Yeah, so now you could leave my family alone," She hissed, Mako and Korra finishing their argument. The two humans left, just as Korra walked up back to the group with a note.
"I think you guys should hear this," She told you, Tenzin, and Lin while opening the paper.
" "If you want to find the truth, meet me under the north end of the Silk Road Bridge at midnight." ,"

Disguised as a tiger monkey, you and the group made it under the bridge just as you made sure it wasn't an ambush.
"Psst. Over here," You saw a man with a long trench coat and hat waving you over.
"Listen, I joined the Equalists because I believed in what Amon said. I thought he could make life better for us nonbenders. But I didn't sign up for this... this war," He confessed.
"What do you have on Hiroshi Sato?" Lin got straight to the point.
"He manufactured those gloves for the Equalists," The man exclaimed.
"I knew it!" Korra grinned, making your tail wag in triumphant.
"And there are rumors he's working on something even bigger. Some new kind of weapon," He explained further.
"We searched all of Future Industries and found nothing," Tenzin said in confusion.
"That's because he has a secret factory," The man replied.
"Where?" Korra demanded.
"It's right underneath the Sato Mansion,"

In human form, you, Korra, Tenzin, and Lin were in a blimp, flying over to the Sato Mansion, just waiting to attack.
"Raiding the Sato Mansion is a risky move with Tarrlok breathing down your neck. If we're wrong..." Tenzin sighed, rubbing his face.
"I know. I can kiss my job goodbye. But protecting Republic City is all I care about. We can't let Amon get his hands on this new weapon," Lin reassured him.
"Let's get this so called she-hero!" You cracked your knuckles, wearing a homemade officer outfit to match Lin.
"Not quite his name, Little One," Tenzin shook his head, making Korra snort at the name.
The officers made their way down to the mansion, kicking in a door where Mako, Bolin, and Asami were hanging out.
"What are you doing here?" Asami demanded.
"We have a reason to believe that there's a factory hidden below the mansion," Lin explained to her.
"I think I would've noticed if there were a factory underneath my house. The lies you people come up with just to persecute my father," Asami scoffed at your actions.
"I understand why you would want to defend your father-," You told her, but she cut you off with a hiss.
"No, you wouldn't understand! It's not like a spirit would ever have a dad, or a family!" That made you slightly clench your fist in anger, but Tenzin gently placed a hand on your shoulder.
"Where is your father?" He asked her.
"In his workshop, behind the house," Just like that, everyone charged to the workshop, checking every crevice.
"Dad? Hello?" Asami called out for her dad, but no one was inside.
"Chief, the estate's been secured. No one has left the workshop since we arrived," One of the officers said.
"Perhaps we just couldn't see him leaving," Lin then turned to you, pushing you forward.
"Want to do the honors?" You loomed at her in slight shock, but smiled.
You closed your eyes, going to the middle of the room. Your ears began to twitch, and you then lifted your arms, banging them against the ground. You felt the vibrations around you, until you felt an absence of earth.
"There's a tunnel beneath the workshop running deep into the mountainside, Metal Lord," You explained.
"What? There's no tunnel," Asami denied the fact just as Lin lifted the flooring and there was a tunnel with a cart.
"Do you think your dad knows about this tunnel?" Bolin whispered to Asami.
"I don't understand. There must be an explanation," She shook her head in disbelief.
"Maybe you don't know everything about your father. I'm sorry," Korra apologized as Lin motioned for her team to move.
"Officers, into the tunnel. Be cautious," She said, turning to the other three kids.
"You three stay up here. Officer Song, keep an eye on them," You and Korra followed in, letting the cart to ride down into the ground.
Stopping at the bottom, you all moved in to reveal a giant grey room, with giant machines and a flag with Amon.
"Not your average backyard workshop," Lin commented, looking around.
"And I'm guessing those are the new weapons," Korra pointed to the machine.
You took a step close to the machine, sniffing to slightly before reeling back in disgust.
"Platinum, not my favorite metal to smell," You stuck your tongue out.
"Hiroshi was lying all right, but where is he?" Tenzin asked, before the room immediately darkened as the doors shut, trapping you all in.
Lin quickly tried to bend the door open, but it was no use.
"I'm afraid you won't be able to metalbend that wall, Chief Beifong. It's solid platinum," The voice of Hiroshi was heard. You turned around to see all of the machine turn on and shine light down on you.
"My mecha tanks are platinum as well. Not even your renowned mother could bend a metal so pure," Hiroshi explained.
"Hiroshi, I knew you were a lying, no good Equalist! Come out here and-," Korra demanded angrily.
"And do what, young Avatar? Face the wrath of your bending? No. I think I'll fight from inside here where my odds are a little more... equal," You could practically feel the smug smile on his face, which had you scowl.
"That source was a set-up! You lured us down here!" Lin glared at the tanks.
"Guilty as charged," And with that, the mecha tanks attacked, striking down as the officers dodged them.
Lin jumped on one of them and broke the windows, as Korra and Tenzin used their bending to knock them back. The officers tried to use their wires, but was then electrocuted.
You managed to get to one officer and break the wire, having the electricity hit you, but not have any effect.
"That one is immune to the electricity," One of the people in the tanks shouted.
"What do we do, boss?" Another shouted as you were breaking all the wired to free the officers.
"Amon had orders for that one," Hiroshi simply said, knocking out Lin and Korra.
"Kill her," Tenzin's eyes widened, running to protect you, but one tank managed to shoot out rope to electrocute and knock him out.
"No!" You yelled, before turning back with a deep growl. You jumped in the air, bounced against the wall, and landed on the mecha tank. It whirled and spun, trying to grab you, but through some instinct, you bared your sharp teeth, and dug them into the platinum.
You managed to pull out a huge chunk out of the tank, before it malfunctioned and you got the upper hand. You used your strength to grab it by the arm, and tossed it at the other tanks.
"H-how?!" Hitoshi shouted in shock, never seeing anything like you.
"Consider your test run, a complete failure," You gave a toothy grin, as you saw Mako and Bolin from the corner of your eye.
"Distract her as we get everyone else inside the transports!" Hiroshi demanded, just as one of the tanks charged. You ran to attack, but it shot out rope to bind you. The electricity didn't effect you, but as you were breaking the wires, it grabbed you by the throat, pinning you to the wall.
"Not so fast, boys," You heard Hiroshi say, stopping Mako and Bolin from taking Tenzin, Korra, and Lin.
"Hello, Mr. Sato. Wow! What a really swell, scary factory you have here under your giant mansion," Bolin said nervously.
"Sponsoring our team, supporting the Avatar. It was all just a big cover," Mako glared at them.
"Yes, and the most difficult part was watching my daughter traipse around with a firebending street rat like you!" Hiroshi snapped and was about to attack them, but another voice was heard.
"Dad, stop!" Asami was behind them, a look of betrayal on her face.
"Why?" She demanded her father, making him sigh quietly.
"Sweetie, I wanted to keep you out of this as long as I could. But now you know the truth, please, forgive me. These people, these benders," He motioned to Bolin, Mako, and you, still trying to gasp for air.
"They took away your mother, the love of my life. They've ruined the world, but with Amon we can fix it and build a perfect world together. We can help people like us, everywhere!" Hiroshi begged her, taking off one of his gloves.
"Join me, Asami," Asami paused, slowly walking to her dad, before grabbing the glove and putting it on.
"I love you, dad," She said before electrocuting her dad and a chi blocker unconscious. The other tanks activated, but not before Bolin quickly knocked the tank that held you away.
You breathed a giant gasp of air, as Bolin picked you up just as the tanks activated the electricity.
"Let's get out of here!"
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
You were slowly rubbing your neck, gently laying against Lin. The officers managed to get sent away, but everyone else made it to safety in the blimp.
"My metalbenders are on their way to Amon, and it's all my fault," Lin grunted out.
"Tarrlok's right, I've failed as chief. First thing in the morning, I'm handing in my resignation," She mumbled, making you pat her on the arm.
"No! You can't give up like this!" Tenzin argued, but Lin sat up.
"I'm not giving up. I'm gonna find my officers and take Amon down. But I'm gonna do it my way, outside the law," She grit her teeth, making you give a smile.
"Yeah, let's break some rules!" You cheered, pumping your fist in the air. Lin and Tenzin gave small smiles.
"Never change, Little One,"
