Chapter 15- Safe In My Arms

"I want to come with!" You excitedly said as Korra was dressing up for a gala Tarrlok is holding.
"I don't know, only a few people know you're a spirit, and I doubt they'll let pets in the gala," Korra frowned.

"But the airbending kids are going, why can't I? I can shift into another form!" You smiled, and did just that. You didn't know who you formed into, but it felt nice.

That was when Tenzin walked in, and froze when he saw you. You looked... looked...

You looked like her.

"Something wrong, Sifu Twinkle?" You asked Tenzin, making him jump a little.
"Oh! Nothing, Little One. I'm guessing you wish to come with us?" He cleared his throat, making Korra snort a little at his reaction.

"I'll be on my best behavior! A spirit's honor!" You raised your hand, dusting off your clothes. Korra looked at the airbender expectedly, hoping you would come with. And with sigh, Tenzin nodded.

"Very well,"

You immediately felt a little regret when you saw so many humans, but you were stubborn to just leave now.
"I can't believe this is all for me," Korra whistled, seeing the fancy dress up.

"I'm not sure what Tarrlok's plotting, but keep your guard up. It's not like him to throw a party just for the fun of it," Tenzin warned, with you holding his cloak. Then, Tarrlok walked down some stairs and gave a smile.

"So glad you could make it, Avatar Korra," He greeted.
"I hope you apologize to the spirit on my behalf, I don't wish to have their appearance to be so soon in public," He bowed his head slightly.
"And who is this?" He smiled when he saw you, making you to hide behind Korra and Tenzin.

"My cousin, she's visiting," Korra lied smoothy, which was the only time she did.
"An honor," Tarrlok shook your hand and motioned to Korra to walk with him.
"If you'd excuse us, the city awaits its hero," Korra wished for you to stay with Tenzin, but he seemed... rather busy.

"Meelo no! That's not a toilet!"

You wondered around, avoiding humans as best you can, until you bumped into a familiar metal wrapped cop.
"Watch it kid- oh," Lin looked down, and paused for a moment.

"I'm going to take a wild guess that you're the spirit in disguise that tagged along with Tenzin?" She crossed her arms. You nodded slowly, before taking in her features.
"Metal lord," You realized, making his punch the bridge of her nose and sighed.

"Don't call me that, it's Chief Beifong," She threatened. That name made you feel dizzy for a moment, and you took a step back. Lin noticed, and felt a little worried.
"Hey, you okay?" She mumbled, which had you look up to her.

"Beifong... Taffy?" You managed to say before Tarrlok and Korra appeared again, with a crowd of reporters at the bottom of the stairs.
"Now what is he up to this time?" Lin growled slightly.

"If you'd be so kind, they just have a couple of questions," Tarrlok smiled, but you knew there was a bad aura around him.
"But-" Korra was slightly pushed to face the reporters, who immediately began asking questions.

"Avatar Korra, you witnessed Amon take away people's bending firsthand. How serious a threat does he pose to the innocent citizens of Republic City?" One reported asked the Avatar.
"I think he presents a real problem," Korra rubbed her arm.

"Then why have you refused to join Tarrlok's task force? As the Avatar, shouldn't you be going after Amon?
"Well, I-" Korra was cut off.

"Why are you backing away from this fight?" Another reported accused.
"What? No! I've never backed away from anything in my life!" Korra shouted.

"You promised to serve this city, aren't you going back on that promise now?"

"Do you think pro-bending is more important than fighting the revolution?"

"How do you think Avatar Aang would have handled this?"

"Are you afraid of Amon?"

"I am not afraid of anybody! If the city needs me then... I'll join Tarrlok's task force and help fight Amon," Korra shouted, but then realized what she said, which was Tarrlok's goal.
"There's your headline, folks," He smiled at the humans took photos of her.

"Tar... you jerk,"

You listened to the radio, hearing how Tarrlok and Korra managed to catch Chi blockers in training.

"You want to know why? Because Amon is hiding in the shadows like a coward," You perked up at the sound of Korea's voice. She sounded determined, and slightly angry and prideful. Which sounded familiar as well.

"Amon, I challenge you to a duel! No task force, no chi-blockers, just the two of us tonight at midnight on Avatar Aang Memorial Island. Let's cut to the chase and settle this thing, if you're man enough to face me," Korra said into the microphone, which had your eyes widened.

'Sifu Vatar... you're being a fool,'

"Korra, this is madness," Tenzin exclaimed as you both arrived at the dock where Korra was on a boat.
"Don't try to stop me and don't follow me. I have to face Amon alone," She firmly said.

"This is all your doing!" Tenzin turned to Tarrlok, who raised his arms up.
"I tried to talk her out of it too, but she's made up her mind," You didn't like his tone, and turned to Korra.

"Sifu Vatar, please let me accompany with, Mask man doesn't look like he fights fair," You pleaded, but she just shook her head.
"Then that'll prove that he's a coward," She snarled and waterbender the boat away and towards the island.

You couldn't just let her go like that, as she faded away, you saw blurs of green, with hair that looked to familiar to what you disguised as. What is going on with these visions?
'I have to stay with her,' You thought and looked down into the water.

You knew you couldn't swim, never learned how. But you can't just let Korra go alone. You don't know why you can't just leave her alone, why you can't stand the thought of her severely injured.

Why are you so protective towards the Avatar?

You took a deep breath, praying on the other spirits that you'll be safe, and you slowly walked backwards, before running up full speed and jumping to dive into the water.

"Little One, no!!" Tenzin shouted, reaching for you, but you were already in the water. You instantly felt a chill run through your body, feeling the heat slowly cool down.

You needed to at least try, try and swim. With the moonlight shining down, you swore you could see it glow brighter when it hit your body. Suddenly, it felt like something was pulling you forward, the waves of the water wrapping around you and is helping you.

'The moon... it's helping me!' You thought at you managed to swim across, and the water helped you jump out. Coughing slightly, you sensed through the ground to hear more than two heartbeats.

'I knew it, a coward!' You snarled, changing into a tiger monkey and ran into the darkness of the building. That was when you saw Korra held up by chi blockers, and Amon in front of her.

You let out a screech, making them all turn to you, Amon's piercing eyes making contact with yours.
"If it isn't the bending creature," He titled his head, letting go of Korra's chin.

"You know, I must admire your pet, Avatar. It never learns when to back down," He mused, snapping his finger and signaled for the chi blockers to let her go.
"I wonder if it'll it die when I take away its bending too," That made you snarl and sent a wave of lava towards them.

Amon and the blockers jumped away, with you covering Korra with rocks to make sure they don't hurt her. You charged, sending more lava their way. You jumped in front of Korra, continuing to hiss, snarl, and growl.

Amon looked at you before taking out more smoke bombs, allowing them to flee. You wanted to chase after, but instincts say to look after Korra.

"Sifu! Sifu Vatar! Are you okay?!" Getting rid of the rocks, you formed back and slid next to her. You lift her head up, where her tired eyes looked up at you, and groggily said.

"...(Y/N)...?"

That single word. That single name. You suddenly felt a pain in your head, making you hiss, but tried to ignore it for Korra.
"I'm here Sifu, don't you worry," You gave a small smile, to which tears filled Korra's eyes, before breaking down and crying.

"I-I... I was so scared! I felt so helpless, and I didn't know what to do!!" She sobbed, holding you tight.
"It's okay, Sifu. I'm here," You hugged her back, making sure you don't cry yourself.

"As long as I'm here, you'll have someone to hug you and make you feel safe," You promised, giving her a tough look, making her smile a little and hug you one more time. You wiped her tears away with your tail, as she felt safe in your embrace.

"Thank you... Little One,"
