Chapter 10
Chapter 10- One Within Battle
You snapped out of that weird thought.
'Blind Bandit? Who was...' You shook your head, wanting to watch the round start. Immediately, Korra shot someone with a water blast from the side and knocked him out.
"Fire Ferret Waterbender Penalty," The round started, and already, Korra wasn't doing so good in the ring. As two disks flew towards her, she bended them to make them exploded.
"Wait a minute, did that Waterbender just Earthbend?" You covered your face to look away as her secret was revealed.
She was still allowed to play, but the other teamed cornered her to knock her down. Suddenly, your ears twitched, sensing something behind out, only to see Tenzin looming over you, anger radiating from him.
"Heyyyyy," You nervously gave him finger guns, which he gave an unimpressed look.
He then picked you up and the scruff of your neck, and lifted you out of the room, going downstairs to where Korra was swimming out of the water.
"Oh, hey, Tenzin. I thought you didn't like coming to these matches," Korra nervously said.
"Sorry Korra, he immobilized me," You sighed in defeat.
"Once again, you have flagrantly disobeyed my orders. You were to stay on the island! Not only that, you managed to drag little one with you into this mess! Let's go," Tenzin lifted you up higher, and you looked down in shame.
"Let's go," Tenzin turned to leave, but Korra spoke up.
"No! I'm kind of in the middle of something," She motioned to the game.
"Sifu Twinkle, please hear Sifu Vatar out, we were just having fun!" You defended the human.
"I have tried my very best to get through to you by being gentle and patient, but clearly the only thing you respond to is force! So I am ordering you to come back to the temple right now!" He firmly shouted.
Tenzin grabbed your hand, and pulled you forward, but Korra pushed you back behind her, glaring at the Airbender.
"Why? So I can sit around and meditate about how bad I am at airbending? You know, I'm beginning to think there's a reason I haven't been able to learn it! Because, maybe, I don't even need it!" Korra shouted back, just wanting to end the argument.
'Don't need an element? ... sounds very... familiar,' You thought, trying to think about where you heard that from.
"What? That is a ludicrous suggestion! The Avatar needs to learn airbending! It is not optional!" Tenzin glared at her.
"No! This is what I need to learn! Modern styles of fighting!" You nodded to agree with Korra.
'Traditional and modern combined is very efficient,' You thought.
"Being the Avatar isn't all about fighting, Korra! When will you learn that?" Tenzin tiredly said, but Korra didn't let him finish as she turned to walk off.
"I have a match to go finish," She huffed, letting on the Lift.
"The Platypus Bears win round two!" The announcer said. You wanted to follow Korra, but you stayed behind with Tenzin.
"Little One, you muddy understand that the Avatar must learn all bending elements, you can't be on her side," He pleaded with you.
"I'm sorry Sifu Twinkle... I didn't know about the Vatar," You defeatedly said, rubbing your arm.
"I'm not as special as other spirits, like Aye Aye, so the only thing I know about the Vatar is in a story about a human girl," Tenzin sighed at your response, but patted your head anyways.
"But I know that Sifu Vatar will learn airbending! When learning about the element, she needs to learn about freedom! Isn't that what airbending is about?" You asked him, which made him pause.
"Yes, Little One, but too much freedom will let the wind to erratic and be out of control! Just like Korra," He argued back, looking up to see that Mako and Bolin is getting cornered, with Korra about to get cornered.
"Looks like the Avatar's pro-bending debut is going to be cut short! She's been pushed back to zone three, and the water is calling her name!" Tenzin sighed and shook his head.
"I'll be waiting out," He mumbled, turning to walk away.
"Please Sifu, if Sifu Vatar is just like wind, then she'll need to control herself, like you said!" You shouted after him. But then, the Announcer exclaimed.
"Hold the phone! Stop the presses! She's still in the game, folks!" You both turned to look to see Korra moving in the way Tenzin taught her, avoiding the elements.
"And she's moving like an entirely different player! All of a sudden, the Platypus Bears' strikes are only striking air!" Your tail began to flick excitedly, a smile growing on your face.
"How about that?" Tenzin said, in slight amazement.
"The Platypus Bears have no juice left, but Mako and Bolin are still fresh and juicy!" The three venders began to knock the enemy team out of the ring and into the water, earning the win.
"Knockout!" You and Tenzin both cheered and hugged each other, before the airbender relqized what he was doing and immediately set you down, clearing his throat.
"You best transform into a tiger monkey again," Was all he said before he finally left.
"The Fire Ferrets come from waaay behind and steal the win! What an upset, folks! The rookies, Avatar in tow, have nabbed a place in the championship tournament! I can not believe it!" You transformed into a Tiger monkey, and ran to where Korra was heading towards the exit.
"Did you see that?! I was awesome back there! I finally moved like the wind!" She cheered when she saw you, picking you up as you perched on her shoulders.
You gave a coo as you both traveled back to the island, where the nomads were repairing the panels. Along with Tenzin standing and watching.
"I'm really sorry ... about everything I said. I was really frustrated with myself, and I took it out on you," Korra slightly bowed.
"I think I owe you an apology too. I was trying to teach you about patience, but I lost mine," Tenzin sighed.
"No hard feelings?" She sheepishly said, with you going back into your form and bowed with her.
"Of course not. By the way, you were really good out there tonight. You moved just like an airbender!" He complimented.
"Wait, you stayed and watched?" Korra said in shock.
"He sure did! Cheered like a spirit having tea and cake!" You teased, giggling at the embarrassed look on Tenzin's face.
"Pro-bending turned out to be the perfect teaching tool for you," He admitted, shooing you away as Korra snickered.
"I'll see you tomorrow for airbending practice, bright and early!" She promised, stepping backwards and waved.
"And, by the way, I kinda permanently joined the Fire Ferrets and we're playing in the tournament in a couple of weeks!" She added, before running off.
Tenzin sighed once more today, in which you placed a hand on his cape.
"You're a good mentor, Sifu Twinkle. You remind me of someone," You told him, making him look down on you.
"Really now?" He questioned, internally taking notes. Did you finally figure it out?
"Yeah... I think it was... a... a lemur..." You yawned, sleeping overtaking you. Tenzin simply shook his head and smiled, picking you up into his arms.
"I think it's best to head to bed for you," He said, making you nod slowly and leaned your head against his chest, snuggling into into his arms.
"Goodnight..." You whispered before falling asleep.
Tenzin looked at you and exhaled.
"Who knows if you're truly who we think you are, but nevertheless, you're Turkey one of a kind Little One," He mumbled, walking through the halls until he made it to your room. He set you down on your bed and gently laid your Lute next to your bed.
"Never change. Goodnight,"
