Joshua's P. O. V

    I saw Avery talking to Aunt Bella, Aunt Mirabel and my mum, when our eyes met I smiled and so did she.

       "Hey bro", Emmanuel said.

     " Hey what's up?",I asked as we did our bro handshake.

     "Come over here,I want to introduce you to someone, you will thank me after this, I promise", he said and I followed him.

     When we got to his car, I saw some of my friends, they were looking at me with drinks in their hands.

    " Hey long time",I said and shaked their hands.

    " You are wicked, you didn't even say let you check on your bros. You are mean", Larry said.

    "I have been busy with school work. I will be finishing next year,so I have to catch up on some stuff ", I said.

     " Says the guru. You are naturally intelligent, tell me when you started caring about school work. We have girls for you, you can do as you wish ", Kenneth said.

   " I am not in the mood, maybe next time",I smiled.

    " You are joking right? You are not interested in having sex with girls? You Josh? Cut that crab out", Larry said.

    "Maybe he is trying to win back Mil, you know he fucked up before, now he is trying to attorn for his sins", Femi said.

    " She dumped his sorry ass and now he is pretending to be a changed man ",Kenneth smiled.

     " And he will still hurt her, that's the funny part of all this ",Larry joked.

    " But seriously can we go and meet them",Emma sounded serious.

    "No, some other time. I promise", I said.

   " Okay then ",Emma said and I left.

    When I got to my previous position, I didn't see anyone there again. I guess they should be in Avery's room, so I went there and saw Mil, Charles,my mum, Aunt Bella, Mary and a man banging on Avery door begging her to open the door.

   I drew Charles to corner and asked," What's wrong with Avery? Why is that man banging on her door? ".

    " That man is her father and she just fou-"

    "Don't talk to him Charles, he acts like he care while he doesn't", Mil sounded angry.

    " Mimi chill, he is just worried about her that's all",Charles defended me.

    "Whatever", she said as she walked out,Charles following her.

     I followed the back and knocked on her window she didn't answer immediately, what I had in mind was that, if I knock again and she does not open up, I will break the window because I can hear her cry from her and I am really worried but when I knocked for the second time, she opened the window. When I stepped my foot in her room she hugged me immediately, she hugged me so tight, like she doesn't want to ever let over of me, like she needed a hug.

    " What's wrong with you? ",I asked but all I got was a cry.

 Why is she crying like this?

    Seeing her this hurt me, I hate seeing her like this. I am here to protect her from anything and anyone. I hugged her so tight and kissed her forehead, I shouldn't be asking her this,she's not in the right frame of mind to be asked such question, when she's ready or has come down I will ask her but for now all I want is to hug her, to make her feel better and comfortable.

     " It hurt, I swear it does ",she cried.

    " Ssssssshhhhh!!! Don't say anything atleast not now. We can talk about this later, okay?",I asked and she nodded.

     I made her sit on her bed, all she needs is to rest, she needs to get away from whatever it is she's feeling. She doesn't deserve to cry, I haven't seen her cry like this before not even when Seb insults or embarrass her, it must really be serious for her to cry like someone who lost something.

      I was about leaving before she said,"Please can you stay with me. I don't want to see or speak to anyone else ". So I sat down beside her and she rested her head on my chest and before I knew it she was asleep. When I looked and saw she was asleep, I rested her head on the pillow and kissed her lightly on her lip. I started playing with her, she looks beautiful while she sleeps, her eyes has swollen a bit due to the excess cry.

      I opened the door and saw her father and the previous people I saw earlier.

     " What did she say? Can I meet her now? Please answer me",her dad asked.

     "How did you get in?", Mil asked.

      " Through your window(I looked at everyone) she said she doesn't want to talk to anybody now, she needs sometime to heal",I said.

    "Where the hell will I and Angel sleep?", Mil asked.

     " You can sleep with Charles while Angel will stay with my sister. She's sleeping now and I don't want her to start crying while she sees any of you. I don't know what happened yet",I said.

     "She needs me, I am her best friend", Mil said.

    " So is her dad but it's her order not mine. ",I replied.

    " Fine, but I am coming here first thing in the morning ",her dad said.

     " Sure ",I said as I left to get her something to eat.

   " What are you cooking? ",I heard from behind me. So I looked back and so Avery.

     " A little something ",I grin.

   " Doesn't the something have a name?",she asked as she rested her hand on the door.

    "Banga stew and rice", I smiled.

   " You really want that kiss don't you",she smiled.

    "Actually I can kiss you if I wanted but since you promised, I can't refuse", I said.

    " I didn't promise, okay? So chill ",she said as she walked towards me.

    " You did, Evie",I said as I faced the food I was cooking.

     "I didn't ", she said as she hugged me from behind.

    " Why don't you want to admit it?",I asked her.

    "Maybe because you made me look stupid when I said it", I felt her smile.

     " No, I didn't ",I said.

    " But your smile said otherwise ",she said.

     " I was just surprised the way you said it, I can never make fun of a pretty girl like you",I smiled

    " Yea right, liar",she let go of me.

    "And where are you going to?", I asked as I drew her into my arms, hugging her.

    " To help you, I want to cut the leaf",she said struggling.

    "Don't struggle sweetheart just ask me and seal it with a kiss", I said.

    " If I kiss you now, I won't kiss you after you are done cooking deal?",she smiled.

     "No deal okay but you still didn't ask", I said.

     " Fine, please Josh let go of me",she said.

    "No sweetheart, baby or darling? I need a nickname from you anyways", I said.

    " That will be later but for now sweetheart let me go",she asked and I let go of her.

   "Now was that difficult", I smiled.

   " So you know you promised me a kiss",I said.

   "Yea, I did", she smiled as she peck me.

  " How is it?",I asked her after we were done eating.

    "Not bad for a males food",she joked.

    " Is that what you are saying",I pretended to be angry.

    "Yea. Just joking it was amazing, nice one Charles wasn't joking when he said you are great cook.", she sounded happy.

    " Yea, so you are giving me my kiss before we sleep, okay?",I said.

   "Yeah, whatever", she smiled.

  " So about today,are you ready to talk about it?",I asked and the smile on her face turned into a frown.

   She was silent for a while before saying,"Yes".

   " I found out my dad has been keeping secrets from me, I found out that I have a sister and he has a wife. Right from when I was little till I grew up he seems scared, he seems to protect me like I can be taken away from him at any time. When I was in primary school I told my dad I felt I was watched and followed, the next day he changed school for me, he didn't trust Mrs Johnson at first until he made her promise to take care of me like she will take of Mil. Anytime I brought up my mum he acts uncomfortable, he acts like he knows nothing about my mum, all he says is she's as beautiful as you are, you have her eyes, her looks and you are as crazy as she is. When I asked of her relatives, he says they are in Nigeria and when I ask if I can visit them he says no, all I ever wanted is to see my mum instead of looking at her pictures, instead of looking at the picture of her and my uncle together, I am tired of it. And today he made a statement that made me question if he is my biological father, I am just confused",she broke down, I went to sit beside her and gave her a side hug.

    "He has a reason for everything, just talk to him about it, maybe just maybe your mum was his close friends-"

    "That's what I am scared of what if I am not family, what if he is not my biological father, I don't think I can bear it", she cried.

    " What makes you think he may not be your biological father? ", I asked.

   " Weren't you listening? He asked Angels mum,'is she my biological daughter?'and he looked happy when she said yes meaning he isn't happy with me, meaning I might or might not be his biological daughter. ",she pulled away from me.

     " What if he isn't your biological father? What if your real family comes to claim you? What will you do?",I asked.

     "I will be so mad at my dad. I will make a deal to still stay with him because I have gotten so attached to him already and I love him like my dad if not more than I love my biological father. I will accept them they are family after all and they might be looking for me", she said.

    " Your biological parents will be filthy rich, they will come with a car to take you home to where you belong. You will prove hard to get but deep down you want them after much persuasion you will agree to be with them just like those stupid and deceiving romantic novels you bug me to buy for you and I will win your heart back", I said. She punched my arms and laughed.

    "That reminds me you haven't bought that novel I asked of and what makes you think you can win my heart that easy", she smiled.

    " That's true but that will be later though. Cause I already have, its just remaining the ring for proposing",I raised my eye brows and she laughed.

    " How do you even know about those novels? I thought you hate reading novels",she asked.

   "When your babe disturbs you to buy a novel for her you just have to check if its appropriate and perhaps since you love those novels,I read it to know how to win your heart and be more romantic than I am", I said.

   " What makes you think you are romantic? ",she asked.

   " Well girls tell me that",I said trying to make her jealous but she didn't seem jealous.

  "Huh....okay then.", she smiled.

    " Can we watch a movie? ",I asked and she nodded.

    " But before then this is what you have been bugging me for",she said and crashed her lips on mine. We kissed for minutes not just any kind of kiss but French kiss.

    As we were watching the movie she rested her head on my chest and I wrapped my arms around her, I gave a kiss on the lips and we went back to watching movie but that didn't stop me from stealing some kiss while watching the movie.
