Avery's P. O. V

   "Avi stand up. Mama's home", I heard a voice which sounded a lot like Mil's. So I turned since the person who interrupted my sleep doesn't want me to sleep in peace. Like I said before, if Mil wasn't my best friend I would HV changed roommate since cause she is an expert in bugging,annoying and frustrating me. She will get A1 that I am sure of.

  " What do you want from me? Let me sleep a little longer. Please just give me 6more minutes, I need to complete my sleep",I begged.

   "Just shut up and wash your face. Is this how you welcome me,did you see me yesterday after I left", she asked. Yeah,I just remembered, she didn't come home yesterday.

    " You didn't even call me or text me",she pretended to be sad. I just fell back to the bed because I am not in her mood right now.

   "Stand up before I pour you water. You are having lectures by 1o'clock and you are going out with Joel for a family dinner. ", she said and I stood up.

   " You are lucky you are my best friend if not I would have sold you to those aboki",I said as I ran to the bathroom.

    "I heard of your fight with Dawn. I heard you beat her real good, there are bruises on her face"

   "You have heard of it already".

   " Who hasn't? I am proud of you. Charles was really happy when he was informed on phone. He said you deserve an accolades. ",we laughed. Crazy girl,I know she made that accolades part up

   " So how was your date?"I asked as I brushed my teeth.

   "Well, it went well. He asked me to be his girlfriend", she shouted that last part excitedly.

    " And did you say yes?"

    "Duhhhh,yes I did", she shouted.

    I came out of the bathroom with my toothbrush still in my mouth,I started to jump all over the room shouting and Mil followed suite. We were so happy we were overjoyed. Finally, they are dating. And it hit me,she won't spend time with me like before and she is likely to put him first,I will be -alone. I stopped jumping and headed back to the bathroom and closed the door.

   " What's wrong? ",I heard Mil asked. I ignored her till I was done in brushing then I said.

" You won't have my time anymore. It won't be me and you against the world,it will be Mil and Charles against the world ",I said sadly.

" Stop talking like a goat. You are my best friend and you come first. I love you both equally, the next time you think like that I will slap you. It has and will always be you and I against the world ",she said as she hugged me. I swear,I felt a million times better.

     Joel will be here to pick me up any moment from now. For some reason I feel nervous cause 1) I am meeting his parents. 2)What will he introduce me as since we aren't dating? 3) why did he invite me? Don't get me wrong,I am flattered but I didn't expect him to ask me to be his date for his family dinner. It's been just five months since my stay in the university of South Africa but its feels like a year,very soon second semester will begin and I will be out of this school drama,atleast for two weeks.

  " Your date is here",I heard Mil scream.

  "Hope he pops the question", she ended.

" Pop which question? Let him not pop any question. I don't want him to be the one to pop the question "

"Then who do you want?",She asked.

" Seb",I said.

There is a knock on the door and Mil ran to open the door. When she opened the door,I saw him standing there looking so cute. The tuxedo he wore made him look taller than usual. He is tall,light in complexion, handsome but not as handsome as Seb,Josh or Charles,he has a grey eyes and blonde short hair.

    He just stood and stared at me like he was short of words. When he managed to speak he said,"You looking dashing". I wore a red dinner gown that has a long split on the knee side and I paired it with a wedge and a black purse and I straightened my hair. I wanted to look simple.

     "Thanks a lot", I said.

     " Shall we?"he asked and I nodded.

      We finally reached his parents house and it is quite big if you ask me. When we got into the house, the parlour alone is three times the size of I and Mil's room.

   "Who is she?", an elderly lady in her mid thirties asked Joel.

  "Forgive my manners. Meet my date Avery, Avery meet my Aunt,Aunt Amelia ",he said.

" Good evening, Aunt",I said as we hugged.

"Hey,everyone. Joel brought his girlfriend home", she shouted and the rest of his family gathered us. Girlfriend? He said date not girlfriend Aunt Amelia,I felt like screaming.

   They came one by one to greet me,I even met Mia which I just found out is his younger sister. We just exchanged look nothing much.

   " Hello Avery. I am Joel's mom,you can call me Anna. You look beautiful",Joel's mom said as she hugged me.

    "Thanks", I said I pulled away from her.

    "Its good to know my son is ready to settle down. He has never been serious with a girl before,so he must really love you for him to introduce you to us as his girlfriend", she smiled. Girlfriend? Okay Joel say something, tell them we ain't dating. Stop smiling and making them believe it's true.

  " I am his cousin Angel." A young girl said,she should be my age mate. She hugged me so tight.

   "Are you sure you are in the right house? This is the Gregory house. And since I HV known Joel he has never introduced a girl to us. What kind of love potion did you give him please? I might need to purchase mine", she joked and I laughed.

  " Dinner is served",Anna announced and everyone rushed to the dinning room. The dinning table is freaking long and there are about 39 chairs. We began to eat. They prepared bacon,fried egg, rice:white rice, jollof rice and friend rice and white soup. It was really delicious,whoever prepared this tried because it was prepared in a large quantity yet its delicious.

"Avery, can you tell us more about you? We just know you name", Anna asked politely .

" Well,there is nothing much to say. I am Avery Adebisi. I am 18years old. I am studying psychology in the same school with Joel",I smiled.

   "How are your parents?", Anna asked.

     "They are fine", I said.

   " What are your parents occupation? ",Joel's dad asked.

    " Dad",Joel shouted and I pinched him and whispered,"Its okay".

   "My dad is a medical doctor and my mum is late", I said trying not to sound sad.

   "How did you meet our son?", a man I am guessing is his father asked and everyone stared at me.

   I gulped and said," I meant him through my best friends boyfriend "

   "Charles?", Anna asked and I nodded.

" Wait, Charles and Mil are now official? ",Mia asked and I could sense jealousy.

" Yes,they are",I answered.

"Since when?", Joel asked.

" Since yesterday, didn't he tell you? ",I asked Joel.

" Well,no. I haven't seen him since yesterday ",he answered.

" And you both call yourselves best friends",I said under my breath and Joel stopped eating and stared.

"Are you angry with me? If you want to say something say it straight ", he said trying to conceal his anger.

I was about to say something but I could feel his family members staring at us and I felt embarrassed. We are not dating but we just acted like we are.....great.

"Couples fight", I heard someone say and everyone giggled. Okay,this is awkward.

" Will you please excuse me? Where is the restroom please?",I asked no one in particular.

"Its down the hallway by your left", Amelia said.

   " Thanks Aunt",I said.

" Let me show you",Joel said.

"No,am good. Thanks", I stood up and left for the restroom.

     When I got to the restroom I felt like crying. Why did he tell his family members we are dating? Why was I mad at him?. When I was sure I felt better,I opened the door and I saw Joel standing outside the restroom. I tried closing the door but he held it open with his hands.

" Can we talk? Please "

"No,I don't feel like talking", I said as I walked out of the restroom.

"Please Avery. I am sorry they misunderstood date for girlfriend."

"But you could have told them it was a misunderstanding. You would have clarified it but noooo you didn't, you enjoyed it", I said as I turned to face him.

" Who wouldn't? You are an amazing girl Avery,you are every guys dream. I just wanted my parents to know you. No harm intended, I promise. If you want I can tell them its a misunderstanding ",he ended and gave me that pity face and as weak as I am I gave in.

  "No,don't. They won't see me again so no worries", I said and Joel hugged me.

" Thank you so much",he said excitedly. "But we have to prove to them we are dating atleast for this night".

'Fine", I said forcing a fake smile. Joel intertwined our fingers together and we walked back to the dinning table.

" I heard about what you did to Dawn. Impressive ",he grins.

" You know about it too",I asked as we approached the dinning table.

"Who doesn't know about it? Just watch your back that's my advice. Because Dawn doesn't back down from a fight", still grinning.

" here they are",Anna smiled at me as I and Joel sat down.

"I have to get back to my lodge", I whispered to Joel after we were done with dinner.

" Mum,we have to leave. She wants to get home before mid night",Joel said to him mum.

"So soon? Why can't you stay the night here?", she asked.

" Well,I didn't tell my roommate I will be staying out.",I said calmly.

"One night wont hurt,Avery. Please stay here just for tonight", she begged. Arrrrrggghhhh,fine.

" Yea sure. Let me inform my roommate " I said as I brought out my phone from my purse.

Me: I won't be coming home tonight. Seems Joel's family love me so much they don't want me to leave.

Bestie: Sure,no p. Just have fun and get ready to gist me tomorrow. Love you big head.

I smiled as I read her text.

Me:Your the best. Love you crazy.

"You will be sleeping with Joel tonight because all the rooms are filled", Anna said.

" What?",I and Joel said in unison. Nooooo,please not I and Joel.
