Ashwin led Sivaangi back to their room, his hand firmly clasping hers, a mix of excitement and nervousness evident in his every step. The soft glow of fairy lights peeked from under the doorframe, catching her attention.
When he pushed open the door, her breath hitched. The room was transformed into a dreamscape. Strings of warm fairy lights crisscrossed the ceiling, casting a golden glow. A small table stood in the center, adorned with a bouquet of lavender and roses—her favorite flowers—and a framed picture of the two of them, candidly striking a pose with their matching yellow attires in the backstage of Pugaz's engagement. Around the room were scattered Polaroids of their memories together, clipped to strings and fluttering slightly in the breeze from the open window.
"Ashwin....Idhu ellam....?" she whispered, her voice filled with wonder.
Ashwin didn't answer immediately. Instead, he walked her to the center of the room and gestured for her to sit. She hesitated but followed, her eyes darting around, drinking in every detail.
"Unmaiya sollanum na," Ashwin began, his voice steady but his hands fidgeting. "I've thought about this moment for a long time. I didn't know how to do it, or if I even deserved a second chance to do it right."
Sivaangi's eyes softened, her fingers instinctively reaching for his.
"But then, I realized something," he continued, kneeling before her and pulling a small velvet box from his pocket. "You're not just someone I love, Sivaangi. You're my anchor. My peace. My everything."
Her eyes widened, a hand flying to her mouth as he opened the box, revealing a delicate gold ring with a single sparkling tear-drop diamond nestled in the center.
"Nii sonna madhiri, destiny nu oru vishayam irundhalum, kadavul setting nu irundhalum, adhu vera level nu naan namburen ippo," he said with a small laugh, his voice thick with emotion. "Because every step I took, every mistake I made, led me back to you. And I want to spend the rest of my life making you smile, making you happy, and making sure you never have to doubt us again."
Tears brimmed in her eyes, but this time they were tears of unfiltered joy.
"Sivaangi ma," he said, his voice dropping to a whisper as he held her gaze, "Enna kalyanam panipiya?"
For a moment, the world stood still. She could hear her heartbeat pounding in her ears, the distant hum of the wedding celebrations fading into the background. And then, with a radiant smile that could rival the sun, she nodded.
"Yes, Ashwin! Va....Let's get married!" she said, her voice trembling with emotion.
Ashwin slipped the ring onto her finger, and they both broke into laughter, the kind that comes from sheer relief and happiness. He stood, pulling her into a tight embrace, their foreheads resting against each other.
"Senior! Enna nala pathupingala?"
Ashwin lips curved into a warm smile "En pondatiya na pathukama pinna?" He said holding her closer to his body.
"I love you Ashwin," she murmured, her arms tightening around him.
"I love you more," he whispered back, his voice steady and full of conviction.
"That picture looks perfect," She said turning her head towards their framed picture.
"Elam Arun seyal," He said dramatically with a giggle.
"Anniki stage la kezha vilundha asingama poirukum Ashwineyyy!" She said embarrassed thinking about it.
"Na irukurapo.....How will I let you fall?" He asked with a firm tone that made her think beyond the words he said. It gave her a sense of trust in his presence and strength, evoking a sense of safety and reassurance.
As they stood there, wrapped in each other's warmth, the world outside seemed to hold its breath. This wasn't just a proposal; it was the culmination of a journey filled with twists, turns, and second chances.
And for the first time in years, they both felt complete.
-------
The morning sunlight poured into the room, illuminating the space with a golden hue that danced across the walls. Sivaangi stirred against Ashwin, her cheek resting on his bare chest. His scent—something uniquely his—wrapped around her like a comforting embrace. Her fingers lazily traced the contours of his chest, her mind replaying the events of the previous night with a dreamy smile.
Ashwin shifted beneath her, his arm tightening possessively around her waist. His eyes fluttered open, a slow, satisfied grin spreading across his face as he looked down at her. "Good morning, fiancé," he murmured, his voice a deep, husky drawl that sent shivers down her spine.
Sivaangi tilted her head to look up at him, her lips curving into a playful smile. "Good morning, Mr. Ashwin. You're up early for someone who was so smug about keeping me awake half the night."
He chuckled, his fingers sliding through her hair, his touch lingering. "Can you blame me? Una pakathula vechitu suma iruka mudiyuma? You were irresistible." His thumb traced her jawline, and his gaze dipped to her lips. "Still are."
"Adhu seri! Mundhanethu night idhey room la our paiyan irundhan. Amma appa avana nambi enna viturukanga nu romba good boy ah irundhan. Ipo avan enga terila!" She said hitting his bare chest.
"Andha paiyan good boy dhan andha ponu dhan orey kiss la elathayum alichita. Rowdy ma andha ponuuu pavam andha paiyan ena panuvan?" She flushed under his intense gaze, her breath catching as he leaned down to brush his lips against hers. The kiss started soft, tender, but quickly deepened as his hand slid to the small of her back, pulling her closer. Her fingers curled into his hair, the world outside fading away as they lost themselves in the moment.
When they finally broke apart, her cheeks were flushed, her lips slightly swollen. "You're impossible," she whispered, though the glint in her eyes betrayed her amusement.
"And you're addictive," he countered, his voice low and teasing as his hand skimmed down her arm, his fingers entwining with hers. The ring on her finger caught the sunlight, its brilliance a testament to the love they shared.
She turned around facing her back to his front as he cocooned her in his embrace his warm breath felt over her neck and shoulder in the stillness of the room. "Ashwin," she murmured, her voice soft but firm, "this... us... it feels too perfect."
"It is," he said, his tone serious as his thumb stroked the back of her hand. "And I'll spend every day proving it to you."
They stayed entwined for a few more moments before reality nudged them forward. "We should get up," she said reluctantly, though her body made no effort to move.
Ashwin groaned dramatically, his arms tightening around her. "Five more minutes."
She laughed, a light, melodic sound that filled the room. "If we're late, our families will think we've eloped."
"Idhu nalla idea ah irukey," he quipped, but he released her, reluctantly.
Sivaangi slid out of bed, her feet touching the cool floor as she reached for his shirt. She turned to find Ashwin watching her, his gaze smoldering.
"What?" she asked, her voice shy but tinged with curiosity.
He stood, his movements deliberate as he closed the distance between them. His hands rested on her waist, his fingers grazing the fabric as he pulled her closer. "You," he said simply, his eyes darkening. "You're breathtaking."
Her cheeks burned under his intense scrutiny. "Ashwin, last night was just a starter we haven't explored a lot but save some for the future!" she murmured, her voice barely audible.
His lips quirked into a teasing smile as he leaned down, his breath warm against her ear. "Stop distracting me, ma, or we'll never leave this room and there will be nothing left for the future."
She swatted his chest, laughing, but her heart raced at the heat in his gaze. "Nii dhan da enna distract panra!"
With a mischievous grin, he stepped back, his hands raised in mock surrender. "Fine, fine. I'll behave. For now."
As they gathered their things and prepared to leave the room, Ashwin couldn't resist one last kiss, capturing her lips in a lingering embrace that left them both breathless. "Let's go tell the world," he said, his voice filled with determination and love.
They decided to tell their families first. Sivaangi's parents came back to the wedding venue after the couple made a late night call to them. Ashwin's parents just reached the place. They agreed to meet in the garden—a quiet, serene spot perfect for the momentous announcement.
When they arrived hand-in-hand, their parents exchanged knowing smiles. Sivaangi's mother was the first to speak. "Nanga ivalo nal ah keka wait panitu irundha news sola poingala pasangala?"
Ashwin laughed nervously, scratching the back of his neck. "Amma, Appa, Uncle, Aunty... we wanted you to be the first to know. Last night, I asked Sivaangi to marry me."
"And I said yes," Sivaangi added, her voice soft but filled with joy.
Their parents erupted in a mix of cheers and happy tears. Ashwin's mother hugged Sivaangi tightly, her eyes shimmering with emotion. "Welcome to the family, ma. Though, honestly, you've always been a part of it."
Sivaangi's father clapped Ashwin on the shoulder, his voice warm. "You've chosen well, mapla. Take care of her, always."
"Kandipa, Uncle," Ashwin promised, his tone solemn.
Their friends, the extended family members Pugazh, Priya, Rakhan, Kani, Dhamu pa and everyone from CWC family was still around at the venue was thrilled to see them walk holding hand with the ring on her finger.
"Adutha mapla ponnu ready!" Pugaz was the first to respond, his excitement palpable as he jumped to hug them both. Rakshan sweetly hugged sivaangi with a content smile on his face.
"Finally! Ashwin, I was starting to think you'd never propose. Sivaangi, you're a saint for putting up with him," they teased, earning a laugh from both of them.
The biggest surprise came when they shared the news with their social media followers. As public figures, their relationship had been the subject of speculation for months, but they had always kept things private. Now, they decided it was time to let their fans in on their happiness.
Ashwin posted a picture, her hand resting on his chest, the ring prominently displayed.

As the day went on, they found themselves surrounded by love and support from all corners. Friends dropped by with sweet messages and calls, while family members called to plan the engagement party.
The moon hung low in the night sky, its silvery glow casting a serene light over the quiet road as Ashwin steered the car onto the highway returning back home. The faint hum of the engine and the soft tunes of their favorite playlist filled the space between them. Sivaangi leaned back in her seat, her fingers absentmindedly playing with the ring on her finger.
Ashwin glanced at her, a smile tugging at the corners of his lips. "You've been staring at that ring since we left teriyuma? Idhu nadandhadhu inum namba mudiliya?"
She looked up, catching his teasing gaze. "I can't. It's beautiful, Ashwin. But more than that... everything about last night and today.....Ellam kanavu mari iruku. Romba azhagana kanavu."
He reached over, his hand briefly brushing hers on the gear stick. "It's not a dream, ma. It's real. And if you ever doubt it, just look at that ring. It's proof."
She laughed softly, her cheeks tinged with a blush. "Proof that you're mine now?"
"Yours and yours alone," he said with a wink, earning a playful nudge on his arm.
The road stretched ahead, flanked by trees that swayed gently in the cool night breeze. The occasional streetlamp bathed the car in pools of golden light as they passed, creating a rhythm that felt almost hypnotic.
"Remember the first time we went on a long drive together?" Sivaangi asked suddenly, her voice laced with nostalgia.
Ashwin chuckled. "How could I forget? You insisted on controlling the music, and we ended up singing off-key to every 90s Tamil hit."
"Excuse me! My singing is always on key," she protested, her tone mock-indignant.
He grinned. "Han seringa singer madam!"
She smacked his arm lightly, laughing. "You're impossible, Ashwin."
"And you're perfect," he replied, his voice softening. The sincerity in his tone made her heart skip a beat.
"Epppdi Ashwineyyyy...."
"Enna ma"
"Epdi nii over night la ipdi aaley marita"
"Ellam ulla vachitu irundhadhu dhan ma.....apdiye flood gate open pana mari mothama kotirichu!"
"Ipdiye iru....maradha....epovum happy"
"Adhu kashtom inum jasthi dhan agum. Nii kuda irukurapo na en happy ah ilama iruka poreyn solu?"
She simply smiled staring at the road. They fell into a comfortable silence, the kind that only comes with years of knowing someone deeply. The playlist shifted to a slow, soulful tune, it was their song and Ashwin turned the volume up slightly. He began to hum along, his voice rich and soothing.
"Padu," Sivaangi urged, her eyes sparkling with mischief. "Na dhan soli kuduthuruken la! Padu!"
He shook his head, laughing. "I'm not falling for that, ma. You'll record it and use it as blackmail."
"Aaaa Na adhulam panavey mateyn!" she exclaimed, feigning innocence. But the mischievous glint in her eyes betrayed her.
"Poie poie poie," he said, though the smile on his face showed he didn't mind.
The song ended, and the GPS announced that they were nearing her neighborhood. The streets grew narrower, lined with familiar houses and dimly lit streetlights. Sivaangi's heart sank slightly; she wasn't ready for the drive to end.
Ashwin seemed to sense it. He slowed the car down as they neared her house, parking just outside the gate. He turned to her, his expression tender.
"Home sweet home," he said softly.
"My home is right here she said" She looked at him, her eyes searching his. "I wish the drive was longer."
His hand reached out, brushing a strand of hair from her face. "There'll be plenty more drives, ma. And plenty more moments like this."
Her fingers curled around his, holding his hand against her cheek. "Promise?"
"Promise," he said, leaning forward to press a gentle kiss to her forehead. "Now go inside before I change my mind and kidnap you."
She laughed, the sound light and happy. Unbuckling her seatbelt, she reached for the door but paused, turning back to him.
"Goodnight, Ashwin," she said, her voice barely above a whisper.
"Goodnight, ma," he replied, his gaze holding hers.
She stepped out, the cool night air brushing against her skin as she walked to the gate. Turning back, she found him still watching her, his arm resting casually on the open window.
"Text me when you get home," she called out.
"I will," he promised, his voice carrying easily through the stillness of the night.
With one last smile, she disappeared through the gate. Ashwin waited until the light in her room flicked on before driving away, his heart lighter than it had ever been. As the car disappeared down the street, Sivaangi leaned against her window, her hand resting over her heart, a content smile on her face.
As Ashwin drove through the quiet streets, the soft hum of the car engine seemed to blend with the lingering warmth of the moments they had shared. He couldn't help but smile to himself, the memories of their laughter, the feel of her hand in his, and the way she looked at him, as if the world outside didn't matter—just the two of them in that fleeting moment. He glanced at the empty seat beside him, wishing she was still there, wishing they could have driven forever, letting the road carry them to a place where time didn't exist. But he knew that this was only the beginning.
Back in her room, Sivaangi stood by the window, her fingers tracing the cool glass as she looked out into the night. Her mind replayed every moment from the drive—the way his voice had softened when he called her perfect, the warmth of his touch when he brushed her hair from her face, the promise in his eyes when he kissed her forehead. Her heart swelled with a quiet joy, a happiness she had never known could exist.
She sat down on her bed, the moonlight casting a soft glow over her as she held the ring in her hand, the symbol of a new chapter in her life. She thought about the future—of the endless drives they would take, the shared silences and laughter, the promise of more moments like tonight. It was a dream she never wanted to wake from, and for the first time in a long while, she allowed herself to believe that maybe, just maybe, dreams could come true.
Half the way back home, Ashwin couldn't bring himself to drive away just yet. His heart still felt tethered to her, to the warmth of the moments they'd shared, and the quiet pull of something deeper that he hadn't yet fully understood. After a few minutes of driving, he turned the car around, the decision clear in his mind. He wasn't ready to leave her just yet—not tonight.
He parked a little further down the street, his eyes catching the faint glow of the light in her room. He had promised to text her when he got home, but she couldn't shake the feeling that something more was waiting to unfold.
A few minutes later, Ashwin was standing outside her house, his hands tucked into his pockets as he looked up at the familiar roof. He had no intention of making a grand gesture—he just needed to be near her for a little longer. Quietly, he scaled the side of the house to the terrace, a place he knew she often retreated to when she needed to think or escape the world below.
He sent her a quick message: "Meet me on the terrace?"
Seconds later, her reply came through: "What are you doing here? 😂"
"I couldn't leave yet. vayen"
"Coming." she replied
The door creaked open, and Sivaangi appeared, her silhouette framed by the dim light spilling from the house. She looked at him, her expression a mix of surprise and curiosity.
"10 nimisham kuda vitu iruka mudiliya?" she teased, her voice soft in the night air.
Ashwin shrugged, a smile tugging at his lips. "Mudiyadhu polaye..... I needed a little more of this... of you. Apdiye vetuku kutitu poidava?" His gaze softened, his eyes catching the light from the house behind her.
"Aasa dhan" She stepped closer, her bare feet making no sound on the cool terrace tiles. "You could've just texted me, you know," she said, but there was a warmth in her tone, a hint of affection that made his heart swell.
"I know," he said, his voice lowering. "But something about tonight... I don't want it to end yet. I don't want to say goodbye to you, Sivaangi. Not when everything feels like it's just beginning."
Sivaangi looked up at the stars, the moonlight reflecting in her eyes as she crossed her arms. "Enakum nii varuva nu tonichu. It feels that way, doesn't it?" she said, her voice barely above a whisper. "Like we're on the edge of something... something we've been waiting for."
Ashwin took a step closer, closing the distance between them, and reached for her hand. "I think indha nal kaga dhan wait panirukom....we've been waiting for each other," he said, his voice full of quiet certainty.
Her breath caught in her throat, and for a moment, neither of them spoke. The world seemed to fall away, leaving only the two of them standing under the night sky. The breeze tousled her hair, and Ashwin tucked a loose strand behind her ear, his fingers lingering against her skin.
"I don't want to go back to reality just yet," he admitted, his thumb gently tracing the back of her hand.
Sivaangi smiled softly, her heart full. "We don't have to, Ashwin. Iniki vendam. Let's just be here. Together."
They stood in comfortable silence, the night wrapping around them like a soft, familiar blanket. The city below them seemed so far away, its noise distant and unimportant compared to the quiet, unspoken promise that hung in the air between them.
Ashwin pulled her a little closer, his arms enveloping her as they looked out over the terrace. "You know, Ingaye ipdiye irundhurala pola iruku. This is where I want to be," he said, his voice a quiet murmur against her hair.
"Enakum dhan," she whispered back, the weight of his words sinking into her heart.
As the minutes passed, the quiet became their companion, the bond between them growing stronger with each heartbeat. The world felt still, as if time had stopped just for them.
And for that moment, with the moon casting its silver light over them and the soft hum of the night air around them, Sivaangi knew that no matter where life took them, this was their moment. The beginning of something beautiful, something that would last forever.
