Did We Just Join The Light Side?

He sheathed his weapons, gripping the handles with hatred.

The sheathed lightsaber slipped from my hand, clattering loud in the pressing silence. I felt like throwing up. My vision had been so real, the pain so tangible, the air so thin in my aching throat. Tears gathered in my eyes at the relief. It was just a dream. It wasn't real.

Starkiller turned to me then, anger in his eyes. "What about you?" he growled. "What is your decision?"

I stared, silent, as a single drop slid down my nose. I looked at Starkiller, my brother; Jaisa, my sister; and Vader, my enemy. I felt the darkest of urges rise in my throat once more, nearly captivating my thoughts completely. With words seemingly meaningless in the face of this horror, of this atrocity I so terribly wanted to commit, I could only make a strangled sound as I shook my head, backed away, and ran to my unconscious sister. Juno was beside her, eyes empty and lifeless and open, staring - staring at me. I looked away to my sister, whose broken cheekbone was begging to mend, and whose swollen eye began to subside. She was breathing faintly, but to my relief, it was clear and strong. I sighed deeply, then moved to Juno's side just as my brother arrived.

"Juno," he whimpered, cradling her against his chest. I reached out, touching her cheek, and began singing before I was even aware of what I was doing. Just as had happened a year ago with Frodo, I lost my sight for a while. It didn't last nearly as long, however, as it came back soon after she woke up.

"Don't worry, Starkiller," I said, shaking my head as my vision started fading back in. "She's going to be fine. I cast a healing spell on her... I think?"

He didn't even glare at me, just kept whispering her name and an apology for not being able to save her in time. I smiled lightly when she finally spoke and felt a hand grab mine, turning me to (presumably) face Jaisa once again. Her breathing was raspy as she cupped my cheek.

"I'm so proud of you," she whispered. "You didn't give in. I could -" she coughed "- feel the hatred growing within you. I almost didn't think you'd find your senses again."

"Oh, come on," I whispered, finding her forehead and placing a gentle kiss against it. "I can't leave you behind. Who's going to take care of you if I go off the rails?"

She giggled, then winced in pain. I helped her onto my back and gently picked her up, listening with a huge grin as Juno stood up with Starkiller hugging her side. My vision cleared and the first thing I saw was the softness of Starkiller's gaze as he looked at her. He cupped her cheek, touched her hair, kissed her face to reassure himself that she was real.

I made a silly, joking noise of disgust as I turned away, making Jaisa giggle again as Kota stepped up to meet me.

"There's someone I think you should meet," he said proudly, ruffling my hair. "The leader of the Rebellion."

"Princess Leia?" my sister and I both shouted at once.

"It would be such an honor," Jaisa croaked excitedly.

"It would be awesome!" I replied. Kota raised a brow, but he couldn't hide his smirk.

"Follow me," he said, shaking his head, and I did so, Jaisa hugging my shoulders in glee. We walked to the edge of a platform, a ship landing carefully upon the other connected to it. A ramp opened and a woman in white stepped out, catching sight of the three of us waiting for her and smiling gently.

"Should we bow?" I hissed towards Kota. "I get the feeling we should totally bow."

"Well, she is royalty," Jaisa whispered back, sliding off of my back and clutching my arm to stay steady. "I would assume you bow to royalty everywhere."

"Oh my gosh, she's here!" Jai and I bent to a ninety-degree angle and I screwed my eyes closed. I heard a short giggle from her, but I still didn't look up.

"That won't be necessary, girls," she said, clearly amused. We straightened, small grins growing on our face as we glanced at each other. "You both look a little young to be fighting. How old are you?"

"Fourteen," we said at once, making the woman chuckle, though it was now more of a sad sound.

"I hope this war won't take from you what it took from me," she said carefully, smiling sadly. "Stay together. No matter what happens. Stay together and never let anything come between you. It might just save your lives in the future."

My body was growing tired. The princess told us to get some rest and we gladly went to sit just inside the building beside us. We curled up together, holding hands, and as Jai gently ran her fingers through my hair, I drifted off into gentle sleep.
