Did We Just Join The Dark Side?

He decided to end him.

I dropped my sheathed lightsaber, unable to do more than stand and stare in horror and fear. The urge to kill, to spill blood and revel in it, to watch the life fade from the Sith's eyes, was almost unshakable. I wanted to scream, but my throat was completely closed. I wanted to cry, but I had no tears to release.

Starkiller turned just a little to look at me. "What about you?" he asked, angry and hateful. "What is your decision?" I jumped at the venom in his voice. I shook my head no wildly, gripping it between my hands as I began to hyperventilate. I wanted so desperately to speak, to scream, but I could not. I was truly mute now.

Don't do this, my terrified mind screamed at him. Don't do this! Too much is at stake now, please! You'll condemn us all! Can't you feel it?!

I have to, he responded. I can't let him live. Not anymore. Not after what he did. I'm sorry.

My vision blurred as I saw my older brother swipe downwards, a crimson arc flying harshly through the air. I tried to scream, but my voice was gone - And the hilt of another lightsaber appeared in his back.

The Apprentice glared at me with yellow eyes. Tears ran down my face in rivers. My powers rose to the surface of my fingertips as I silently sobbed, my lightsaber flying back into my hand. I felt burning in my eyes as I ignited the weapon and flew at him, propelled by the Force. Dark intentions rose in my mind, clouding my entire being as darkness overtook me. I was in a blind rage of fury as our allies stared at me, and I could feel the fear in their gazes. I reveled in it, enjoying the writhing fear quenched by a hunger for pain I had never quite noticed before. It had always been there, however, always lingering in the pit of my stomach.

My lightsaber flew, reflecting my emotions as it swung wildly, getting close but oh so far from killing the man before me. I seethed, releasing my anger in the form of a dark cloud. Kota began yelling to me, begging me to stop and save my family.

Don't you see? I wanted to scream. I am helping my family. By avenging them!

I felt three faint heartbeats, the last remnants of my new and imperfect family, begin to fade. It made me that much angrier as I began to growl madly.

"This is for the murdered father I never got to meet," I said through grit teeth. I threw a mean swing directly at the Apprentice's arm, which he blocked with no degree of ease. "For a mother who doesn't even want me in her life," I spat, going for his side. "For a fake family I loved with all my heart," I yelled, swiping at his head. A piece of his hood was singed when he straightened up, eyes wide and full of fear. "For my sister, one I never knew I had, or even get the chance to know!"

I jumped, falling hard and forcing the man onto his knees, grimacing with effort to keep me off of him.

"And this," I hissed, pulling a ruby lightsaber from my dead brother's hand, "is for the brother you just murdered." The blade was ignited and in his stomach before he could blink. I twisted it, making him grunt, and his eyes cleared for a moment.

Brown eyes stared into mine, wide with both fear and relief. I could see my own in the reflection, orange. I dropped both of my sabers as he did with his own, staring into the dim, glassy orbs that were looking directly into mine. He smiled a sad, soft smile and reached up, touching my face, before falling heavily onto his side.

I snapped back to the reality of what had just happened, breathing fast. I looked at my hands, shaking and bloody from holding the sabers so tightly, and felt my pulse quicken. I looked to the body in front of me, then Starkiller's body, then Juno's and Jai's. I looked at Vader, who was silently laughing, to Koda and the  rebellion I had just single-handedly destroyed, and to my reflection in the rain water at my feet.

I started laughing. Loud, insane, broken laughter. I doubled over, tears stemming from my eyes, and pressed my hands to my face. Then I straightened, face up, screeching with the hideous laughter of someone who had just lost everything and everyone that held them together.

Like someone who just lost their sanity.

"Jen... no...." I heard Jai whisper, but it didn't compute in my head right. I stopped laughing and began to look down at her, my face frozen in a twisted look of horror.

"What have I done?" I whispered, watching Jai release her last breath and go still. "What have I done?"

My power rushed to the surface of my skin all over my body as I screamed, my vision flashing blue and red before fading entirely.
