Ch. 23: Secrets in the Dark

As the Hexsquad was fuming and all planning different ways to make the slutty green haired, fat assed, rotten to the core, cunt suffer... Eda and Raine had opened the door to the dark and dusty manor.

"Hello? Anybody home?" Eda asked, joking as she and Raine stepped into the mansion.

"Unless wild spirits suddenly moved in, I think we're fine." Raine said as they shut the door behind them.

"Where should we start?" Raine asked.

"Well, might as well start with the basement." Eda said.

"Where the bodies are?" Raine asked in surprise.

"Yep!" Eda said, "Start at the bottom and work our way up!"

"I guess, plus we still need to move them for the funeral and burial." Raine said as they walked ahead of Eda towards the basement.

Once they reached to, the opened the door for Eda.

"Ladies first." Raine said.

"Right, so you go first." Eda said with a grin.

"Oh very funny but we both know I'm not a lady, even if I sound like it." Raine said before pointing downstairs. "Now get in there."

Eda shook her head and walked into the basement, before Raine put a foot on her ass and pushed Eda down the stairs. There was a thud at the bottom and after a second... Eda laughed.

"Oh, haven't done that in a minute!" She said loudly.

'She enjoyed that? Unbelievable.' Raine thought as they walked down after their wife.

Eda stood up and used her hands to dust herself off.

"Well, that was sort of refreshing. My body didn't hurt as much as I thought it would." Eda said, rolling her arms. "Guess getting anti-magic made me a bit younger too."

"Well, you have less wrinkles and black hair, you don't look that old, you actually look younger by, and keep in mind most would've assumed you were late seventies at the youngest, at least years." Raine said.

"So... I look to be in the early forties at the latest?" Eda asked, before smirking, "Guess that makes you a cougar, huh? You're almost 50."

"Eda-"

"Don't worry your little delicate hip, we'll get you to dinner before 3." Eda said, not aware that something was coming from behind her.

"Look out!" Raine shouted as they pushed Eda out of the way.

A person wearing a black cloak and black mask with a white symbol on it lunged at Eda and Raine. They turned around and fired a ball of white fire at the two. Eda put her arms up and her corrupted arm changed and formed a shield around the two.

"Ikso laket ferosa." The person said.

"Hey, English buddy, you ever hear of it!?" Eda asked, before turning to Raine, "Why is English common here, it's a human language?"

"Is now really the time!?" Raine asked.

"I'm just saying!" Eda shouted before another attack hit her shield! "But you're right, let's just focus on whoever this creep is!"

Her hand returned to normal, before she launched it at him. Her incredibly long black arm grabbed him by the head and slammed him into the wall. Now, you would think a normal person would give up, but not this person. This person reached into their cloak and pulled out a long black handled, double edge jian sword.

With ease, they cut off Eda's arm, making her yelp in pain.

"Titan, Damn it, can people STOP going for the same damn arm!?" Eda yelled, before a new arm grew in its place.

The person held the sword out, before the blade began to glow white and ignite with a white fire.

Raine gulped at the sight of the blade as they quickly summoned Eda's Bell cittern to fight as Eda changed into her harpy form.

"Raine, start playing!" Eda said, flying towards the person.

"Right!" Raine said as they began playing a rapid tune.

The masked which charged at Eda as the sword spun in hand, the white flames growing larger and larger with each rotation.

Finally, he swung at Eda, nearly catching her ablaze. Eda barely managed to jump back, trying her best to avoid getting lit on fire. Eda flew into the air and made a spell circle, sending corrupted ice at the person. The person swung the sword with ease, using the fire to melt the ice, but it was working as Eda hoped, the fire was slowly getting put out. This gave Eda the chance to swoop down and clash her claws against the sword. As she did, she saw some weird word engraved in gold lettering on the base of the sword. The word, "Itoch". She didn't know what it meant, or where this language came from, but she knew that this person needed to be stopped. Her strength gave her a big advantage, but this person was clearly trained and was smart enough to use Eda's size to his advantage. He ducked and rolled between her legs, before swinging the sword and trying to connect with her wings. To everyone's surprise, a large black shield grew from Eda's back and blocked the strike.

'Okay, I'm going to take a look at this later.' Eda thought.

"Raine!" Eda said, "Get clear!"

Raine, who had been playing the entire time, had magic cover the ground... and if there was one thing Eda did best, it was learn from near death experiences... apart from how to get into those experiences at least. She slammed her fist on the ground, sending a wave of corruption around to eat away at the magic, and knock the person into a wall. He dropped the sword, and the mask came off as he impacted. He looked up and saw that Eda was coming again. He quickly stood up and shot white fire around him, forming a circle, before grabbing the sword and sticking it in the middle. Just like that, him and the fire disappeared. Raine walked over and picked up the mask.

"Where do you think this came from?" Raine asked.

"I don't know, but we can talk to Lily about it after we figure out what's going on with Skara and her little red lightning thing she did." Eda said, "But I have a feeling they're connected."

Raine looks d at mask, still curious about that witch and what exactly there were doing here.

'I'll think about that later, first we need to take care of Skara's parents.' Raine thought as they put the mask inside of their vest.

"Okay, now first of all, these are the worst coffins I've ever seen." Eda said.

"Yeah, a teenage girl did this during the apocalypses, I think we can give her a pass." Raine said.

"First thing I'm doing is teaching that girl how to build a proper coffin." Eda said, not joking.

"What, why?" Raine asked in surprise. "Why would Skara need to know how to build a proper coffin?"

"To save money for when we die of old age. Do you know how much stores charge for a good coffin?" Eda asked her partner.

"Why do you know this?" Raine asked.

"Because I looked like I was old enough to drop dead every second of the day." Eda said with a shrug, "You have to be prepared!"

"...I somehow have the urge to slap you, kiss you, and slap you again." Raine said blankly.

"Save it for the Honeymoon when we make child number four." Eda said.

Raine blushed so much that steam was coming out of their ears, making Eda chuckle as she turned to the coffins.

'I still got it.' Eda thought.

"Okay, Raine, help me teleport them to the morgue for now, then we can get back to figuring out Skara's thing."

"R-Right." Raine said with a nod, walking to the coffins.

How this would could still charm and make them blush after all these years was beyond them but that didn't meant they didn't like it. No matter how crud or lewd it could be.

Refocusing in the task at hand, Raine put the bell cittern away drawing a large spell circle at the coffins.

They disappeared and Eda and Raine looked at each other, unsure of what else would be there.

"So, what else do we do here?" Eda asked.

"I don't know, search around some more? We don't know how bad condition the house has become since Skara was left alone." Raine said.

"Her parents had to have written something down." Eda said, "There's bound to be something."

The two went upstairs, with Eda heading to Skara's dad's office, while Raine checked the parlor. Raine opened the door to it and saw a fairly dusty room, but ultimately, it was nice other than that. It was the place that Mr. Melody would entertain his business partners when they came over to talk business. Raine looked around a bit, not seeing anything substantial. a few dusty chairs, a few old bottles of Titan Whiskey behind the bar. It seemed like a normal room. Raine was about to head out, when they noticed something... behind the wallpaper that was starting to peel... and there was a door behind it. Raine reached up and ripped the wallpaper off, seeing the door in it's entirely. They didn't see a handle or anything and did what Eda would do. A couple minutes later, Raine just slid the door open and limped into the room.

"Okay, step one to kicking a door down... make sure it's not a sliding door." Raine muttered, before performing a light spell.

The made it float to the ceiling and lit up the entire room. There they saw a fancy outfit. A tailored black coat with gold accents, black pants, black gloves, black boots, a black mask with a gold symbol on it, and a black axe.

Raine looked close and saw the word "Itoch" engraved into the handle. Raine, having not seen the sword, didn't realize that it had the same word on it, but they did know that the mask was the similar.

"What the Titan?" Raine asked, picking up the mask and comparing the two.

With Eda, she had successfully kicked open the door to Mr. Melody's office.

"Alright, what the hell were you hiding?" She muttered.

Eda knew that he never let anyone in here for some reason, not even servants, so something was in here. She went over to the desk, which had the drawers locked. Eda smirked. She put her corrupted arm up and part of it went into the keyhole. The drawer unlocked and Eda smiled.

"This makes stealing so much easier." She said as she opened the drawer.

Inside, Eda saw several letters and a map. She pulled out the letters and read one... or at least tried to... it was in another language, one she didn't understand.

"Why does he have these?" Eda asked.

She pulled out the map, and realized... this wasn't the Boiling Isles. It was a Titan, and from the numbers and coordinates she saw... it was at least a weeks trip by staff, and a 13 day trip by boat. The more she found, the more confused she got. She found a picture and nearly dropped it... in the photo, was Mr. Melody... and a person that Eda assumed was the person they just fought... she knew it was, it had to be... it was the exact same sword, with the same engraving.

"... We need to speak with Lily." Eda said, putting everything she found in a folder and rushed to find Raine.
