Vyom's pov
I angled her face, fingers in her hair, devouring her mouth like a man in thirst and she is the only source of nectar to quench it. She whimpered, opening her mouth against mine like an invitation and my tongue dived in, tasting every corner.

My palm slipped down her waist, palming a handful of her derrière, squeezing, and her hips jerked, rubbing her core on my stomach, eliciting a groan from me at the thought of the single fabric keeping us away from skin to skin.

She panted, breathless, nails digging on my shoulders, every move of her chest sending a jolt down to my restrained girth. I dragged my lips on her neck, nipping her skin, forth soothing it with my tongue, taking my sweet time at the pulse throbbing there.

The sky reverberated above us, dancing along the sprinkles, leaving goosebumps with every touch, wafting us in the refreshing scent of petrichor.

Apeksha is nature herself; earthly, rooted and filled with spirit. Challenged by storms, still planted firmly. Enchanting in every way, every definition. A force you yield to with your own will. A Goddess in human flesh.

Still mine.

The longing of the astray-ed skies; destructive yet desired. Infeasible and forbidden yet incanted.

"You are to blame," through her husky voice, she muttered.

I couldn't bring myself to detach my lips off her skin. "For ?"

"For setting my body on an inferno every damn time. I am still not acquainted with this side of myself." To prove her point, she rolled her hips in a delicious motion, and my dick sprang up in salute.

Emitting a guttural sound, I dipped my head between the cleft of her heaving swells, drawing a sleek path from my tongue before sinking my teeth.

"God..."

And she moaned- the most erotic sound I ever heard, her head thrown back and lips parted.

"Are we equaling scores ?" I nibbled on her skin, more urgently, assertive to leave a mark that would make her blush bright red for days. "Because I've long lost the count of cold showers I've taken so far."

The crimson like rubies on her wrist glinted under the darkness. Rubies often signify a love that blazes so bright, endures through every lapse, transcends time, embodies a desire that's all-consuming, and a passion ready to set every rationality ablaze.

Does she even realise the clutch hold she has on me ?

"I can guarantee you are not only wet because of being in the water." My knuckles brushed across her clothed breasts and her body responded, almost immediately, another moan reverberating.

Her nails press softly on my Adam's apple, skimming down with deliberate unhurry. Indulged in the anticipation of the forthcoming, I nearly collapsed, taking us both down, not realising when she unwrapped one of her legs off my torso, now deliberately nudging my obvious hardness with the same. "Holy heavens!" I hissed, fingertips digging on her flesh to steady us both.

Breathing unevenly, I squeeze my eyes to gather the little strength still holding the string of my control.

She leaned closer, lips brushing my ears, as the little vixen chanted her spell, forged as a challenge, "Why don't you find out yourself ?"

I almost go feral, the sound vibrating through my chest too primal for my own recognition.

It's something that fascinates me about her so fucking much. She is a challenge wrapped with haunting sweetness. Edging me to want to unwrap it layer by layer, devouring deeper and deeper. Until nothing is left. Until it's just me and her, too inseparable to unblend.

I swam us back to the edge, the action unbridled, prying her back on her feet, the water submerging her inches below her collarbone.

The sky hummed in response, cascading its deluge over us in synchronised rhythm, chording every drop with each ragged intake of breath, each drop falling on our skin feeling like an added note.

Battery lanterns were scattered across the pathway to the area surrounding the pool, blinking like fireflies in the capped darkness.

Canting my neck, I captured her lips in another smoldering dance of passion. My fingers curled around her thighs, hiking her up effortlessly as she moaned in my mouth, and then I mounted her on the grass surface.

I could feel her eyes zeroed on me, her gentle yet shallow breath filling my ears as she waited in anticipation, having her weight braced on her elbows.

A surprised shriek tore past her lips when I hauled her back to myself, my fingers clutching her ankles, followed by settling her legs on my shoulders.

My lips feathered her flesh with reverent fervency, softly biting at times and sometimes gently sucking. She shuddered in my grip, making such sweet noises that had me aching in my swimming trunks.

"Fuck, little swan!" Her hips jerked, the vibration through my hoarse voice tingling between her legs. Feeling assertive, my tongue darted out, lapping unashamed on her covered core. And she cried out.

"So addictive," I growled, the sound low and edged. "So damn addictive that every passing moment is a torture inflicted on me. Do you even realise how badly you undo me ?"

In response, she arched her body, spontaneously tugging at my hair, forcing my head up. Through heavy lidded eyes, rain drops weighing on them, our gaze locked again and desire shimmered, cracking through every needed intake of air.

"Don't complain. You are not the only one starving," defiance peeked from her barely muttered words. "The abyss of my longing is unfathomable, like a prayer sent to the sky; only whispered but never reached."

My thumb pressed between her parted thighs, lingering there, rendering her in shivers. "Then grant me permission, little swan." I let the yearning and hunger in my voice reflect, not cloaking it behind any mask. "Grant me permission to worship every inch of your body, to memorise every sacred nook and dip, so the only ridges etched on my head are yours and every shade splashed in my memory lanes is valleys belonging to you."

My head dipped back between her legs, replacing the thumb with the gentle nibbling of teeth, having her writhing beneath me. I added as she whimpered, "Like I'm the embodiment of every unheard prayer of yours."

I relished the faint smell of her wetness, tongue turning relentless, making her feel everything I'm about to do with her as my fingers hook around the waistband of her bottoms.

"Please_," her voice cracked, nearly sobbing.

A wicked smirk crawled at the corner of my lips, slightly tugging at the waistband and her hips wriggle in response, but I didn't give her what she wanted. Not yet.

"Be a good little girl for me and ask nicely," I drawled, showing no mercy. The prolonging was equally painful for me. "I might consider it then. Take my name, make me believe that you want it as urgently as if you wouldn't be able to think rationally without me bringing you to sweet heights of pleasure.

"Ohhh God... just please, Vyom. Please give it to me. Ruin me for anyone else." She was practically in wrecks, bucking her hips in greedy motions, eager to generate any friction.

A lazy smile emerged at the seam of my lips, pushing the whisks of midnight hair sticking from her face. "Of course, I would, baby. It's only generous to return such favours."

My insides roared with the unfurling of something dark, carnal, twisting and turning under my skin like a vile snake ready to pounce.

I grabbed on the fabric of her bottoms, yanking on it, both of us stiffening the very next second at the peculiar sound that ricocheted in the air.

She sprang up with a flinch whereas my muscles recoiled, turning taut. Birds squawked with panic, splattering like an explosion through the sky, overpowering even the clouds' roars.

"W-was that a gun shot ?" I could barely hear Apeksha over the voices in my head.

Composing myself, I jump out of the lake, sprinting to collect the dry towels before throwing them around Apeksha, ushering her back on her feet.

"Do you think someone is out hunting ? Isn't that illegal ? Should we report it to the authorities ?" Still bewildered, she continued to blabber while I hurried us back inside the cottage, putting on the security lock and double checking it.

Before she could blabber more, I gripped her shoulders, regarding her with a serious look and she baulked.

Without wasting another second, I began, "Little swan, I'm going to step out for a moment and have a look around." One glare and she gulped back her objection, glaring right back at me.

I stepped away, wrapping one of the robes on my body, marching inside the bedroom to retrieve the gun I've kept hidden. And made a quick call to Singh.

She was still standing on the same spot as I appeared back in the living room, scrutinising me askance. She was waiting for a rather rational explanation which I couldn't offer at the moment. I walk back to her, cupping her face with tender movements, "Once I step outside, fasten the security lock properly. Then get inside the room and make sure you lock it and have something on yourself you can use as a weapon."

She frowned at my words, a look of fright evoking in her demeanor and clasped my arms, "Then you don't go outside either. Be safe here with me."

"Don't worry, little swan," I squeezed her arms. "Just don't open the door for anyone unless it's me. Please."

The plea in my voice did it and she gulped back all sorts of protests and counter back, nodding her head tersely.

I know I should have handled the situation more wisely. I should have comforted her, rather than giving her reasons to get frightened more.

But fuck, I can't help it.

I stood at the threshold, unmoving, stepping away only after I made sure she was secured inside. Then I turned around, sprinting towards the woods, each step calculated, eyes sharpened and ears on alert.

The metal of the gun dug onto my palm, my footsteps light, yet purposeful, navigating through the surroundings bathed in sheer darkness, guided by one of the battery lanterns I picked earlier, striving to catch any plausible danger. The rain had thinned to soft drizzles, still the robe clung to my body, making it hard to decipher whether it was the rain or sweat.

Was it really someone hunting as Apeksha presumed ? Am I just being paranoid ?

But it can't be.

Dangers have always lurked at my arms length, ready to strike any moment I lowered my guard, like a wildfire ready to turn everything and everyone surrounding me into ashes.

The cryptic mails I've been receiving soon after I started dating Apeksha, promising harm on her, often wording her as sweet thing or oblivious bird, makes everything within me blaze with a barbaric urge to personally chop every damn fingers on that fucker's hand.

We were back on square one since last time the guy we caught was just a useless proxy. However, they've since managed to track down the fucker who was actually controlling all those mails.

Turns out it was a woman. But that didn't placidate my fury. So I let Isuel and her knives take over. But damn! Prior to us digging out any information from her, she gulped on the malachite reliquary ring she had on her finger.

Malachite is considered toxic, but when polished in jewellery, the chances thins until and unless they are ingested. My family has been in the jewellery business for too long to not know the basics. The autopsy our medical team performed confirmed that her ring had a small amount of arsenic dust, that furthermore added on the cause.

"Fuck!" cursing, I dragged a hand down my face in order to get rid of the dampness from my skin.

Whoever was here must have used something like a subsonic ammo, considering the gunshot wasn't that loud. Which also means he or she must be somewhere not too far. Or perhaps vanished already.

Agitation gnaws at me, my search turning relentless, following the direction I presume the sound ricocheted from. My steps halted, feeling something under my feet. I tilted the lantern to have a better look, recoiling away as a dead bird lay by my feet, covered in soil and its own blood.

Another set of profanities exerted past my mouth, frantically swinging the lantern in every direction and then I spotted it, the bullet stuck in one of the tree's trunk, a few feet behind from the bird. It took me quite some effort to get the bullet out with the help of an edged stone I picked from nearby. Using the same stone, I dug a small pit in the moistened soil, burying the innocent life lost because of human's gruesome acts.

Security measures were planted before I brought Apeksha here. The cottage might look old but Singh's team themselves put on the security locks and unbreakable windows. It's, though, hard to break in, nonetheless leaving Apeksha behind wasn't a very sane step.

Every trap is laid out deliberately, cloaked by layers and layers of fabrication. It might be just a warning like the last time when they almost hit Apeksha with a car. But it might not be just a warning this time. She could be in real danger this time. With the sense of urgency still looming over me like dark clouds, I broke into a run , hurrying towards the cottage, so I could fill Apeksha back in my arms and make sure she is safe and sound.

My fists banged on the wooden door, fear wrecking me from within when no one opens the door. That makes my action more frantic, cold sweat breaking through my skin. Then I remember instructing her to not open the door for anyone, so I called out urgently, "Little swan, open the door. Tell me you're safe."

For what it felt like centuries, the door finally creaked open and those soil-like eyes peek through the gap. The palpable fear in them thawed at my sight, the kitchen knife slipping from her hand to the floor with a gentle clunk and as she let the door ajar. I dashed forward, crushing her in my arms, my shoulders quivered with dissipating tension, inhaling her soothing scent.

She soothed a hand down my tensed muscles, tightening her hold around me, mirroring my disquiet. "Aap theek ho ? What's happening here ?"

(Are you alright ?)

I don't say anything, just hide my face in the crook of her neck, hearing my heart race against hers.

Moments later, I reluctantly pry from her and her question-filled eyes search my face, every cell in my body calming down under the tender touch on my cheeks. "Please say something. You're scaring me."

Doom is prowling my way, threatening to crush the fragment of happiness I built as if it was merely a house of cards.

I forced the words out of my mouth, my tone involuntarily gruff, "We are leaving."

One second passed.

Then two.

Unlike my expectation of her bombarding questions, her concern and fear seemed to skyrocket.

Void of any relevant assurance, I yank her back in my embrace, lowering my lips on her forehead, right below her hairline. "I'm sorry, little swan. Te valde amo."

(I love you so much.)

We packed our staff amidst the looming silence and within the next few hours we were already in the sky, flying back.

The familiar electronic metal gates of Somani residence greeted us in the dead of the night, whirring shut behind us with a familiar soft clank. I dropped Apeksha in the servants quarters, telling her to catch some sleep and not overthink any of it. Tucking her in the sheets, I stepped out from there, the day's exhaustion already weighing me down. To this point, I just want to hit the mattress and sleep like a log, even though I believe I would hardly catch a wink.

Moreover I've to brief everything to Singh. It can't be delayed anymore. Something has to be done before it's too late.

On my way back from the servants quarter, my steps froze midway as the eerily calm voice of my father beckoned me from behind.

Slowly, I whirled around to face him, my countenance not betraying an emotion. "Vyom," he regarded me with a curt nod, gaze momentarily flickering towards the servants quarters. The action was too fleeting but couldn't evade my scrutiny. "In my office, now."

The day couldn't get any more drastic.
