Chapter 8

Guys comment a lot please, I enjoy reading them!

Btw its back to Anastasia's POV

I woke up feeling as though I had the world on my shoulders, dragging me down and making my head feel heavy. Dramatic thoughts of 'what if's' and 'maybe's' filled my head.

Blearily blinking away the haze of sleep that still clouded my vision, I sat up on my bed.

The image of Hardin's face in close proximity etched in my mind. His commanding presence and riveting eyes. His honeyed breath that fanned my face and his citrusy fragrance that itched my nose.

But the image quickly changes to his dark and harden eyes. The way he stiffened as he spoke in a flat, dead voice; devoid of any feelings. The way he exited the room, his face a perfect mask of calm; his emotions unreadable.

A chill shiver sinks deep within my bones, remembering that he's a cold-blooded creature. A vampire.

Shaking the brute from my mind, I shift my focus on Jasmine across the room. She was still sound asleep, curled up into a little ball. Her face was contorted into a haggard expression.

We didn't have lessons today, but we did have the Reunion between Hunters and vampires that was held every week.

And I wondered if I was going to see Hardin..

Why should I care?

After brushing my teeth, I wore my comfiest gym clothes, and walked towards the mirror across the room.

From the reflection I could see Jasmine tossing and turning. She starts blinking her eyes, adjusting herself to the sunlight glowing on her face.

She shifts her body to look at me, resting her cheek on her hand as her elbow held her whole head.

I looked back at her and begin to braid my hair into one fishtail.

"Morning sexy," she says half smilingly in a croaky voice.

I stifled a laugh at her deep, rough voice. She was surprised herself as her eyes widen and she falls her head back to her pillow.

"Whoa, I sound like Kai hitting puberty."

I giggled at the memory.

She got up from her bed and checked the time.

"Noo! I'm gonna be late!"

"For what?"

"I'm meeting Zach during the Reunion today!" She was hopping on one leg as she begins to pull up a pair of skinny jeans.

"Whatever, I'll see you back here whenever then."

"Aren't you going to be at the Reunion?" Jasmine's voice was muffled as she was pulling down a sweater down her face.

"When am I ever?" I sarcastically questioned, moving away from the mirror and making my way to the door.

"Don't get lost in the woods." Jasmine half shouted as I closed the door behind me, muffling her voice.

----------------------

Deep breathes. Narrow eyes. Focused. The gun in my hand, pointed at a target. Clicking the safety off, my index finger traced the trigger. I felt the frigid wind blowing on my face, the breeze surrounding my thin clothes. Exhale.

I firmly pressed my finger on the trigger, holding my feet on the ground, my elbows jolting back with the shot.

The deafening sound echoed through the forest, trees fluttering as birds escape into the sky.

I looked at the target. Just above the bullseye.

Ugh, I never get it right.

A shadowy figure caught my attention at the far corner of my eye.

A strong aura blessed me with it's present, invading the atmosphere, thickening it with darkness .

Instinctively, I turned my whole body and pointed the gun at the hidden silhouette.

But he wasn't hidden at all.

Hardin.

He stood between two trees. His arms lazily rested on branches either side of him. A smile creeped up on his face as I looked at him.

His black, disheveled hair was gelled upwards, glistening under the streaks of sunlight peering through the trees above us.

My vocals betraying me as they stopped working and my throat close up.

His earthy eyes freezing me in place.

"You're doing it all wrong." He said approaching me. A stern voice, yet it was laced with amusement.

I blinked my eyes hastily. "Excuse me?" I scoffed in disbelief at his audacity.

I relaxed my arm, the gun now pointing at the floor by my side.

"Your posture wasn't right."

He walked behind me, putting his hands on my shoulder and turning me to face the target.

His warmth sinked through my thin clothing, instantly making a cold shiver trail down my spine.

His lips blew hot air on the back of my neck as he spoke steadily, "Now, relax."

He gripped my trapezius muscles firmly, yet gently. Massaging it and relieving the tension. My head fell back as sighs of pleasure escaped my lips, resting on his muscled chest.

His curved lips touched my ear as he spoke in a husky whisper, "Point the gun at the target."

Obediently, I lifted my head back up, raising my arms to point at the target.

Hardin's lips now rested on my temple as his hands begin to move down my arms, intertwining my own hands; leaving a trail of electrical currents tingling my skin.

Pushing the feeling to the back of my mind, I focused on the target.

One of his hand stayed on the trigger of the gun with my own as he took his other and grabbed my waist.

I gasped as he forcefully twisted my waist, with no barrier other then our clothes between our bodies. I could feel myself burning.

"Inhale deeply." He paused. "And when you exhale, shoot." He moved his other hand and joins his other on the other side of my waist.

Exhale...I shoot.

Bullseye.

We stayed in our position for a while longer, staring at the perfect hole in front of us. I smiled gleefully and I could feel his eyes on me.

His hands are still on your waist, compose yourself!

I cleared my throat and moved from his grasp to turn to look at him, a few inches apart.

"Um thanks I guess." Not making eye contact.

"Look at me." He demanded huskily.

Shit.

Steeling my nerves, I looked up to him.

He doesn't affect me.

Keeping my face devoid of any emotion and I looked at his expression. His eyes frantically searching my own, as if he was drinking my appearance; scanning my face.

He bought out a hand to my face and began to caress my cheek.

"Why are you out alone in the woods, Red?"

I ignored the nickname and rolled my eyes. "Wasn't in the mood to socialize." I pushed his hand away.

"Why not?" And that's when I took noticed to what he was wearing. A suit.

It was obvious he didn't want to wear it. The tie was loose, with the top button undone and his shirt wasn't tucked in.
He had a scruffy yet attractive look.

Focus.

"You ask lots of questions." I stated. "Why are you wearing a suit?"

"What, this?" He asked looking down at his clothes. "To command respect, you have to look the part."

I scoffed, "Yeah, as if a PureBlood doesn't already have all the respect in the world."

He laughed at my witty comment. I couldn't help but notice his calm nature yet rugged physique as he began to rub the back of his neck.

His eyes glistened, the wisps of soft chocolate and slight golden flecks burning as he spoke.

"Yeah, well it's good to make an effort."

I rolled my eyes and begin walking through the forest, Hardin trailing behind me.

"Then let's not keep the vampires waiting." I mocked.

I rather be surrounded by hundreds of NewBorns than be in woods with him. Alone.

I focused on the gravel crunching beneath our feet and the rustling of the golden leaves above us, feeling the wind silently whistling past our bodies.

"And here I was trying to escape from them." He sighed amusedly.

"If you really wanted to escape, you wouldn't have came to the most shallow parts of the woods."

"You still didn't answer my question."

Remembering what he asked, "I don't like vampires." I turned around to face him, waiting for his reaction on my reply.

"Ouch." He said, a hand above where his heart would be. His full lips pouting.

He looked adorable.

I rolled my eyes at his sarcastic demeanor. I turned around quickly, flicking my braid so it would slap his face and continued to walk out of the woods.

"That was rude, Red." He said from behind me.

I stopped dead in my tracks just outside the opening of the forest. Hardin almost stumbling as he nearly collides with me.
I turned around and start poking his chest after every word.

"Stop. Calling. Me. That."

A smile was implanted in his face as he looked down at me. Amused.

"Okay. Rossa."

"What does that mean?" I asked curiously.

His smile quickly drifted into a smirk as he looked down at me, bringing his face closer to my own.

His minty breath fanning my face as he began to whispered,
"Red."

I looked at him dumbfounded. Not bothered to waste anymore breath on him, and made my way back inside the Academy.

Why is he acting soo... sweet, after being so cold towards me yesterday?

He's not asking about the necklace as well..

Bipolar much...
---------------------

All of the vampires were inside the hall along with the Hunters. However some Hunters were still roaming the corridors aimlessly. Some slowed down too get a better look at the PureBlood beside me.

Silent whispers filled the halls.

"I heard he's part of the Italian Mafia."

"He's a PureBlood. I thought they were myths!"

"He's so hot!"

"Well I heard he's Royalty."

"Do you think he will notice me?"

Clearly being able to hear all the susurration, I looked up beside me to see a faint, side smirk carved in his face.

"Take a picture Red, it'll last longer." He looked down at me, his smirk more visible.

Realizing that I was staring blankly at his face, I quickly moved my head to look in front of me.

Way to go. You're probably blushing right in front of him now.

A bright room shone from the dull corridor, a glistening chandelier in the ceiling, floating above the polished floor.

Making our way to the room, I looked down to see tables and chairs scattered everywhere.
Both vampires and hunters mixing together as they chattered amongst each other.

I stood in a raised platform next to the threshold, the stark white stairs leading to the floor where bodies were spread everywhere, covering every inch of the floor.

A hand reached for my shoulder, jolting my attention back to the figure next to me. His thumb rubbing small circles, trailing to the nape of my neck.

I looked at the owner of the hand to see Hardin's eyes fixated on the people.

The warmth radiating from his hand, sending electrical signals jolting within every fiber of my being. I could feel myself burning up once more.

Trying to hide my sweltering cheeks and avoid giving him the satisfaction that he has somewhat of an effect on me, I turned to look down at the floor.

The loud chattering alternated to soft mumbles. I looked down to see every vampire turned to look up at Hardin. They all bow simultaneously.

I'm sorry guys if this was bad.
This was like a filler I guess, but I still hope you enjoyed it :'(
