Awkward.
It was awkward.

The silence was eating me inside out and the tension was building with every second.

I stood behind the corner clueless, not knowing what to do.

The half human creatures were called Halfers. Before, they were mere servants and slaves to the Vampire Nobles until The Takeover. During The Takeover, the Vampires persuaded the Halfers to join them in battle with the promise of freedom and choice.

The Halfers agreed and are now living side by side with the Vampires, hunting us, Humans.

The two guardians of the underground world stood there as still as stone with blank expressions on their faces.

To be completely honest they didn't even move an inch.

Are they even breathing?

Who knows?

Maybe not, they are still a species that humans don't fully understand.

Out of the blue an idea struck me.

I hid behind the corner and took off the small backpack that I carried here.

Remembering that I wasn't a full blood, I took out a dark velvet cape and wore it over my shoulders, covering my head, to hide my human features.

I secured it with a beautiful brass button which had a rose engraved and with confidence on the outside and slight fear on the inside, I stepped into the dimly lit corridor.
Right in front of the guards.

"Who's there?" demanded the piglet with fear in his eyes.

"Your worst nightmare"
.......................

A self-satisfied smirk made its way onto my face whilst I slid past the unconcious guards and through the gate.

What I saw next had shocked me.

Instead of birds ,
bats were flying here and there.
Instead of stars,
different coloured jewels covered the dark roof above my very cloaked head.
A light source looking like our moon was now split into 5 pieces.
1 in the very heart of the parallel universe and the other 4 were hanging from every corner of the ebony sky.

I stood in the very centre of the of the crowded plaza.

Unfamiliar and bizarre faces filled my field of view, covering my main focus and my final destination.

The palace.
