Chapter 1 : Hesitant Farewell

"365 I'm Hope"
"365 I'm Hope," I repeated to the other end of my walkie talkie.

Me and my fellow comrades have been hiding in this pit for several days.

It's cold and muddy.
Not to mention it stinks.

From time to time we'd climb up using an ancient ladder we found and look at our enemie's position and next moves.

Our team, team "Hope's" mission is to find their hiding spot. Despite the seriousness of this situation our leader Hoseok, also referred to as "Jhope," is the very definition of sun in this darkness.

" Y/N smile," he would tell me when I looked gloomy.
" You're starting to look like a vampire yourself," Hoseok added.
" You do remember I'm a half blood," I answered now smiling.
" I know, but that won't change the way we see you," he reassured me.
" Now let's kick some pale vampire butts!"
After his statement, our whole crew
of three giggled.

If Hobie weren't here with us, I don't know what could have cheered us up.

"Now enough with the laughter," said Namjoon, the brains of our group, while laughing his head off himself.

" I have located our target's position," he informed us in a serious tone.

While getting ourselves back together we thought of a plan of how to get in there.

The Vampires were located in a cave inside of a tall, scaly, grey mountain.

" We need to send someone inside," said Jhope, " the only problem is, who will go?"

" It should be someone who looks like them, someone that they could mistaken for their own kind," thoughtfully said Namjoon.

'What if I go?' I thought.
'Being the daughter of a human and a vampire they would gladly take me in. Having the crimson eyes and pale complection of my dad, while having the long raven hair of my mother, I'm sure to complete this mission successfully! '

I snapped out of my thoughts.

" Guys," they both looked at me,
" I figured that it's best if I go."

Hobie's eyebrows looked like the roof of a house.

" Y/N, it's dangerous for you to go alone, " he said worriedly,
" I'll go with you."

" No matter how frightening this may seem, she has to go alone,"

Namjoon massaged his forehead,

"we can't leave the fort because at least two people need to watch in case of an enemy attack."

" Jhope, Namjoon's right," I said sadly,
" the both of you need to keep watch."

"Bu-but," Hoseok stuttered as tears overflowed his eyes, " can I at least then walk you there?"

" I will go back to our hiding spot I promise, at least let me walk you there."

The both of us couldn't bare seeing our sunshine without his light and therefore, Namjoon and I allowed him to go with me, but afterwards, he would have to return to our base immediately....

" Just one more step Hobie and you're there"

" I can't make it," he cried out helplessly, " what if I fall and break my neck?"

" You will fall if you don't stop panicking, " I snapped at him.

" That's what I'm trying to do, but it isn't working," he sobbed while clinging onto the cliff for dear life.

The wind became stronger, the air around us turned cold and the sun was starting to set.

'We're running out of time,' I thought as I looked at my hopeless friend.

His eyes were squinted, knuckles were turning white, and his nose turned red due to the temperature.

I kneeled down and looked at him,

" Give me your hand," I calmly instructed Hoseok.

" Y/N, I'm scared to let go though," he stammered.

" I won't let you fall"

He hesitantly opened his eyes,
" Promise?" his jaw shook.

" I promise"

With his eyes shut tight and teeth clenched Jhope let go of the edge with one hand and reached out to me.

Frightened for his panicked state I quickly took his trembling hand with mine and pulled him up.

Hoseok gasped when his knees touched the flat surface. Tears made their way out of the corners of his eyes and poured like a neverending waterfall.

" I'm alive," he whispered through his sobs.

" Of course you are silly," I gently ruffled his hair.

After sniffling and sobbing Hobie stood up and spoke up,

" Let's go"

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
" Finally we're here!" I exclaimed.
" It looks so lifeless and gloomy," Hoseok commented as he popped his head into the entrance of the cave and observed it.
" Are you sure you'll be alright?"
" Don't worry, I'll be fine. Now go back to Namjoon."
I lit up a torch and made two steps towards the wide pitch-black opening.
Before I could even go inside Hoseok stopped me.
" Y/N wait"
" What is it Hobie?"
"Oh no, it's nothing," he hesitated,
"just stay safe."
" I will. Don't worry about me." I gave him a sincere smile.
" Until we meet again then," he waved.
" Until we meet again"
With that he turned on his heel and left.
Leaving me all alone....
