Chapter 3

Lucy's pov

I took a deep breath and stood above them. I can feel Natsu's glare on me along with everyone else's. I shrunk under their glares. "Go on," Gramps urged me. I closed my eyes taking another deep breath before opening them.

"I was 5 when it happened. We were out in the gardens having a picnic. Dad left us to attend his duties. We were packing up when an explosion happened. Zeref-nii told my mother to take me and hide. We did. I could hear the explosions happening outside. Mom took a peek and decided that we should go somewhere else. She flew away and I fell asleep. The next thing I know is that I'm in the Spirit Realm. All they told me was that Mom, Dad, and Nii-chan were doing something important. I stayed there for more or less 4 years. I was hanging out with my friend, Loke, when I fainted and woke up here," I finished explaining my story. The glares stopped after telling them that I woke up in the Spirit Realm.

Gramps decided to take over. "I want you all to understand that Lucilia has done nothing to contribute to what's happening right now. We have no right to be angry at her for something she didn't do. Another glare and I will rip your eyeballs out of your skull," Gramps threatened them all. Why did he say that? They're his comrades. He looked at me and smiled softly. "You should go back and rest," he said and I nodded. Mira escorted me back to the infirmary. As soon as I lay on the bed, I drifted off to sleep.

I woke up the next day and saw Natsu sitting beside me while staring at me. Fear rushed through me and I tried to get away from him. Forgetting that I was on a bed, I fell and hit a burn I forgot to heal. I whimpered in pain feeling it sting. "Oh no, why did you do that?" Natsu rushed beside me and tried to help me up, but I desperately avoided his hands.

He noticed it and looked at me guiltily. "I'm sorry I did that. I acted without thinking as usual," he chuckled without humor and picked me up. He put me on the bed and sat beside me. "I'm sorry Luce. I just hate Zeref so much. He causes a lot of misery to people's lives," he said.

"Luce?" I asked and he smiled. "That's my nickname for you!" he said. I smiled a little. "I forgive you Natsu," I said and he hugged me.

"Ara ara, am I interrupting something?" we both looked up to see Mira with neatly folded clothes in her hands. We both blushed and let go of each other. "Nope. Well Luce, see you later!" Natsu said and rushed out of the room. Mira laughed and walked up to me. "You should take a bath. Here are some fresh clothes for you," she said. She helped me out of the bed and directed me to the bathroom. There was a bathtub and it was already filled with warm water.

I took off my clothes and got in. I relaxed and sighed in relief. How long has it been since I had one of these with my real body?

While cleaning myself and healing the rest of the wounds, I thought of everything that has happened. Zeref went berserk and no one could stop him. He took over most of Fiore and made an empire. Only Magnolia is not under his control.

I got out of the relaxing bath and dried myself.

Why though? Why did it happen? Did Mom and Dad die? Where's Mavis now? Is she still alive?

I looked at the mirror and found myself wearing what I'm not used to wearing. In the castle, I'm told to wear dresses all the time. Now, I'm wearing shorts and a t-shirt. I walked out of the bathroom and Mira scanned me up and down. "You look beautiful!"

She dragged me out of the infirmary and down to the guildhall. Everyone was fighting, drinking, or talking with each other. Is this normal? Why do they hurt each other? What's even weirder is that they're all greeting me as we pass by them.

We reached the bar and she made me sit on a stool. "What would you like for breakfast? It's on the house!" she cheered brightly. I asked for a cheese omelet. I felt the presence of somebody else besides me. I looked and saw Natsu. He ordered a curry and a raw fish for Happy.

"Won't he get sick eating a raw fish?" I asked and he shook his head."Happy has been eating raw fishes since he was born!" he said. That's odd. Maybe Happy's body adjusted to digesting the raw fishes. Our orders arrived. Mira beautifully decorated the omelet with a ketchup Fairy Tail mark.

"Thanks, Mira!" Natsu said returning the now empty plate. He eats so fast! Does he not take time to savor the flavor of the food? "When are you getting your mark, Luce?" he asked.

I thought about it. Mark? Should I even get one? I probably have to go back to Zeref, but it seems like it'll take some time. "Where and what color Lucy?" Mira asked while holding a stamp. I held out my right hand. "Here in pink please," I said and she stamped it. The mark glowed before settling to its pink color

I stared at it in awe before snapping back realizing something. "Lucy?" I asked. "No offense, but Lucilia is a mouthful. I'd prefer to call you Lucy for short," she explained and I nodded. Lucy...

I finished my omelet and thanked Mira. I turned around and watched the guild fight. Natsu joined it fighting Gray from yesterday. "You're probably confused as to why they fight. Don't worry. It's a normal thing in Fairy Tail," a short blue-haired lady said. She wore red, thick-framed glasses and held a book in hand. She must be a bookworm. "It's just an odd sight. I've never seen angels fight one another for fun," I said.

She sat where Natsu sat before. "Do you like reading?" I asked and she nodded. "I spend most of my time reading in the library. I've probably read every book there," she said. We ended up discussing our favorite books and characters.

We have lots of things in common. We both like the Mercy Thompson Novel series and agree that our favorite wolves are Samuel and Adam. We've read nearly every book in our libraries, mine at the castle and in the Spirit Realm and hers here in Fairy Tail.

"You should bring some books from the Spirit Realm. I've read some about the place but there's not much info," she said.

"The Celestial Spirit King does not want humans to know a lot about the place or they could cross Realms and cause havoc, but maybe I can bring some books if he allows," I said and she rapidly nodded her head.

I jumped in surprise when Erza appeared in front of us and broke a table heading our way. The guild immediately went silent. "Who dared to hurt the Princess?" she asked with venom in her voice. Everyone pointed to a bulky white-haired guy. "Elfman!" she yelled and in a flash, she was in front of him beating him. The guild went back to fighting. Levy and I both sweat-dropped.

"Luce! Wanna get out of here?" Natsu asked as he jogged over to me. I looked at Levy and she smiled while nodding. "Sure. Thank you for the nice chat Levy-chan," I said. Natsu held my hand and dragged me out of the guild.

I breathe in the fresh air and smiled. "Come on! I'll give you a tour!" Natsu said. A lot of things have changed. Most houses were now made out of bricks or what they call cement. There were more stalls in the streets and there's now a place called park that has some metal things where children play. I think one of them was called a swing. I sat on it and Natsu pushed me. It was fun until Natsu pushed me too hard and I went flying. Luckily I have wings so it was no problem. People were shocked though to see an angel. I played with some children 'till we had to continue with the tour. We eventually stopped by at a restaurant to have Lunch. I was still surprised when he ordered the entire menu and scarfed it all down in a matter of seconds. I was relieved that he had money to pay for the amount of food. He then introduced me to some shops that I haven't seen since I visited Magnolia centuries ago.

"I'll show you one last place," he said and led me to a forest. I can't help but start panicking and think bad things that could happen. Is he gonna kill me or worse kidnap me? What if some monster pops up and attacks us? I don't wanna die. As if sensing my distress, he held my hand. "Nothing bad is gonna happen."

We walked even deeper in the forest 'till we arrived at a field. In the middle of the field was a wooden house. It had a sign saying 'Natsu and Happy'.

So this is where they live. He opened the door and we entered. Surprisingly, the place was clean. "Lisanna must've cleaned it again. I better thank her later," he said and rubbed the back of his neck. Lisanna? They seem close. "Are you two dating?" I asked.

He looked at me in shock before started laughing. "Us? Dating? I'd rather eat a salad than date her!" he roared still laughing. What does he mean by that? I waited 'till he calmed down. "Lisanna and I are not dating. We're just best friends and besides, she's got a crush on some other guy I don't know, won't tell me," he shrugged and sat on his couch. For some reason, I was relieved when he told me that.

"Who's Happy?" I asked remembering the sign. He pats the spot next to him and I sat. "He's my blue-haired exceed. You probably saw him in the guild trying to give fish to a white-haired exceed, her name is Carla," he said. Exceeds? I thought they strictly stayed in their kingdom and never went out. I guess that's another thing that changed.

"It's getting dark. Dammit, I forgot to buy dinner," he groaned and facepalmed. "It's alright. I'm not hungry," I lied. I am hungry, but I don't want him to run to the city just to buy food. "Oh well, I have this fish all to myself," he said holding a fish. Where and how did he get that? I'll never know. He lit the fish on fire and ate it like it was normal. I'm glad I didn't say I was hungry. My insides would probably ash by now.
