Chapter 6: Just chilling, You?

The next morning, I was awaken by my mom screaming at me.

"Wha-?" I mumbled groggily.

"IMOGEN CHANTAL ROSWELL! WHY ARE ZERE USED TISSUES LYING EVERYWHERE IN ZE HOUSE?"

"Oh shit," I said, sitting up. I looked around. I was sitting on on the couches, wrapped in three blankets. The other couch was vacant but I could tell that Kate had slept in it. Haley must have gone on the floor.

"Gen?" asked my mother, towering over me as I blinked in confusion.

"It was Kate, maman. James kissed une autre fille which was a dumb move on his part," I explained. Mom sniffed but kept quiet.

"Your friends are in ze garden," she said after a while. I slid off the couch and ran outside. Haley was sitting on the garden table, a light grey structure made from metal. Kate was sitting backwards on a chair, hugging the back tightly.

"Morning," I greeted, pulling up an chair and slumping into it. Rubbing her eyes and yawning, Haley threw back her hair and fixed me with a look.

"Uhh..."

"So, now that Kate is over James, let's talk about you and Grant," she said. My heart stopped. Kate smirked as her eyes went from Haley to me.

"Well, you see... We were, like, dancing and stuff," I tried. Haley and Kate burst out laughing. I stared at them.

"What?"

"You should have seen your face, Gen!" cried Haley, holding her stomach. Rolling my eyes, I whined, "You scared me, Haley."

"Aw, really?" she asked, meekly, "I was only teasing you. I think you and Grant would make a great couple."

"Who's Grant?" asked my 11-year-old brother, Indigo. Yeah, yeah. It's a crazy name but hey, my family's weird as anything.

"Her boyfriend," mocked Kate.

Indigo gasped, "You have a boyfriend? But last time they said you liked girls!"

I blanched, while Kate and Haley shrieked with mirth.

"Indi, go away," I said, "Grant and I are as much of a couple as Haley and Harvey."

"Harvey?" Kate looked closely at Haley.

"Oh he's no-one," she blushed, going as red as Rudolph. I smirked at Kate, who smirked back. Just then, my phone vibrated.

Unknown number: Hey :)

ME: Who tf is this?

Unknown number: Me, Grant!

ME: I never gave you my number

GRANT(?): I asked Harvey to ask Haley

I snapped my head up and looked at her. She grinned guiltily at me before looking at her own phone.

ME: That makes sense

GRANT: So wud

ME: Just chilling, you?

GRANT: Same

ME: Soooo

GRANT: So what?

ME: Nothing

GRANT: ...

ME: Ttyl, got something to do

GRANT: Ok

"Kate, let's walk to the corner shop and get some stuff," I said, standing up and stretching. She nodded and followed me out of the house. We turned left onto the street then began walking downhill.

"How are you doing?" I asked, jumping over a large rock.

She shrugged and replied, "Better then yesterday. I just can't believe that of all the people he could have cheated with, he chose Monica!"

"Yeah," I nodded. We carried on in silence. When we reached the small shop, Kate squinted her eyes.

"Gen... Look there," she muttered. I scanned the parking lot and my eyes came to rest upon a very familiar decorated van. As I tried to recall where I had seen it before, a familiar nasal voice filled the air.

"Twenty petunias, is that right?"

"Ye-es, and some of those gardenias ple-ease, Mr Bloome," said the shop keeper, Miss North, stepping outside. North was a short woman, with a round face and straw-like hair. She had these thick-rimmed glasses that she'd always misplace, which were currently resting on the top of her head. Stepping out after her, was a guy with ginger hair and freckles and-

"Shit shit SHIT!" screamed someone, maybe a vagabond, from the other side of the road.

Bloome turned his head, and saw me and Kate. He scowled.

"Mr Bloome? Is everything alright?" asked Miss North, in a sweet voice.

"Yes, I'll have your delivery ready by Wednesday," replied Bloome. Miss North went back inside her store as Bloome walked over to me and Kate.

"Um, yes?" Kate asked, staring blankly at Bloome.

"Girls, I'm not here to fight. Just want to ask a few questions," he said.

"Fine," said Kate.

"How's Monica doing at your school?"

"Did you, like, know that she was joining our school even on that day you almost killed me," I asked. He nodded.

"Well, she's definitely doing someone," mumbled Kate. I almost sniggered.

Mr Bloome sighed angrily then turned to his van. He went to it and got in, then drove away.

"What do you think that was all about?" asked Kate, an hour later later, sitting in my bedroom with Haley. Haley, who was sucking on a fruit stick, shrugged.

"Maybe he knows how much of a slut Monica is. Maybe he doesn't want her to get in trouble," she suggested.

"Nah," I shook my head, "he seemed surprised but angry when Kate made that remark."

"What remark?" Haley raised her eyebrows.

"Bloome asked how Monica was doing, I said she was definitely doing someone," explained Kate.

Haley gasped before breaking out in a fit of giggles. Once she started, I joined in, then Kate. All three of us were laughing for almost thirty minutes.

"Emo, what's so funny?" asked Indigo, standing in the doorway.

"Nothing, Indi. Go to your room," I said, still giggling a little.

He groaned but went peacefully, a change from his normal behavior. Haley stopped giggling and looked at Kate seriously.

"Girl, that was so rude of you though. True, but rude," she scolded.

Kate rolled her eyes then said with a smirk, "What if Bloome was mad because she used to do him?"

Haley picked up one of my many pillows and hurled it at Kate. Kate screamed and fell off my bed. She grabbed another pillow and chucked it back at Haley, who reached for a pillow and ended up smacking me across the face. Before she could apologise, I stuck a pillow in her face. Take my advice; pillow fights are awesome, but try not to go too far, because when we were done, all four of my lamps were broken.
