Chapter 49

--= Mark's + POV =--

It was a couple hours before Cry and Felix decided to leave for a coffee. It was just Jack and I in the house, and Chica, but she was still asleep. There was a voicemail on the phone, but it was Jack who went to go and pick it up, he put it on speaker though so we could both listen to it.

It was the asylum, just checking in to see how we were doing. Well, how Jack was doing and whether or not I was alive, they said I'd need to bring him back for a checkup to see if he was growing more stable or stable enough to be out here for long periods of time.

They suggested it might be good for him if he came back for the weekend or a week, but before I even had time to react they said that we could talk more about it when we went to visit the asylum. They also said it would be better if we brought Jack as quick as possible.

That was all they said though, the voicemail was over before the two minute mark, and when Jack turned to look at me he had a calm smile on his face.

"You wanna head out now?"

"Right now?" Raising an eyebrow trying to see if he was hiding anything behind the regular expression, he raised his arms into a shrug and sent a grin my way.

"Only if you wanna."

"Well, alright then, lemme just get up from the couch." A groan escaping my lips, I left the comfortable couch and walked over to the front hallway. Slipping on my shoes, I glanced to my left to see Jack doing the exact same thing except a bit quicker than I was.

Opening my mouth about to start a conversation, he was already out of the door and I was left alone in the front hallway. A slow smile rising on my face, I let out a chuckle as I snatched the keys and followed after him making sure to lock the door first.

He was already waiting by the car when my eyes adjusted to the light outside. The sun was glowing and allowed a blanket of warmth to wrap around my skin and comfort me, not being too hot, just the perfect amount of heat.

The breeze was light too, so it didn't make it a chilly day either. Jack seemed to notice this too, because he was staring at the sky with a huge smile on his face. A bluebird soared from the tree and landed on the walkway of my house not too far away from Jack.

The smile only growing wider on his face, he turned to look at me and his eyes shined with content. Grinning back at him just as sincerely, I unlocked the car and we both slipped in, taking the spot in the driver's seat I buckled up and looked over to see him doing the exact same.

Once he was buckled up, I pushed the key into the car and turned on the music, pressing my foot on the pedal I drove out of the driveway and onto the road making my way to the asylum.

=-= Time Skip =-=

I closed the door shut to the car and made my way into the asylum, my hands intertwined with Jack's. The lady at the desk saw us immediately and her eyes shined with greetings. Scooting out from the circular desk around us, she walked over to us and gave both of us a hug.

"It's good to see you two again. You always make my day whenever one of you show up."

"Aww that's very sweet of you." Jack's face growing a light shade of pink, she let go of us and grinned, clearly excited to have us here again, and beckoned us for her to follow her.

"We don't necessarily want to keep you long, we just need to see some things with Jack and see how he is mentally and health wise, well, physical as well. What with what he has it's always good to check on it every once in a while if not more often than that. But it's been quite a bit since we had one for him, so we had to call you in."

"Oh it's no problem really we don't mind, but I do have a question." Her face brightening even more than it already had realising she could answer something, she glanced back from behind her to get a look at me as she pushed me further to ask the question.

"Hmm?"

"Will I be able to go in with him while he's doing the checkup?" Eyes going wide, she stopped in her tracks and shot Jack a nervous look before going back to staring at me. Stuttering on her words as she tried to get out the answer to the question.

"Umm... Well-"

"Mark, I don't think that's such a good idea." Jack budding in on the lady, she seemed to calm down a little when she realised Jack was on the same side as her. Catching eye contact with me, she had a look of pained sympathy in her eyes.

"Why not?"

"They usually trigger me during these to write down statistics of strength, stamina, things like that and my health while it's happen, they also do it when I'm regular to see if they can get an estimate of my life span and my overall health. It's easier for them and less stressful for me if you're not in the room while it happens."

"Oh...."

"Please don't take it personal Hun, it's just something that will be safer for the both of you." The lady putting a hand on my shoulder reassuringly, she opened the door and waved her arm signaling for Jack to walk in.

Jack going in a few steps, he turned around a smile on his face.

"Just wait for me out here, okay? I'll be back soon I promise."

Nodding, my face falling, I watched helplessly as the door closed itself blinding my vision of Jack no longer being able to see him. A sigh coming out of my mouth, I anxiously pulled a hand through my hair slicking it back and pressed my back on the wall sliding down until I was sitting.

Yayyyy an update!

(ITS BEEN A YEAR)

No, not a year, it's been like a little over a month I think? 0.0 I've been busy guys :( I'm sorry, I know I keep saying I'm sorry but like, I am. Even though I keep doing it. I'm trying my best there's just so much work piled on me right now, and there's going to be for the next little while what with it being march and april, may too those three months are the heaviest load work wise in school and it's term three which means it's the most important part of the year for me.

But! (Heheh, butt)

I do have some good news if you consider it as good, I have begun (Began? dunno) to make my very own novel, completely original, and it is on ficfun.com, the book is called somber, and it's about a girl named Amaya, it's a mystery novel. And it shows what happens when one day walking home from school she finds a dead body on the side of the road.

I'm excited for it, mind you, I am going to be taking my time with it, especially since it's my very first original novel I am actually thinking of publishing, it only has two chapters out right now but I am currently working on a third one, I'm aiming to work on it and have it around 50 000 words, but we'll see how it goes.

Whoever wants to read, by all means I'm flattered, but those who don't, that's okay <3 Whatever floats your boat is fine by me. But imma leave the link in the comments and up here in case anybody does want to go check it out.

Imma put it in the comments too, but if the link for some reason doesn't work I'll write the info down here.

The book is called somber

It has a black cover with white eyes and antlers, looks kinda smudged but I'm gonna redo it once I have the time

It's made by yours truly, but the username I've used is my real name and not MisfortunateMC,

My username is Darcy Sumsion

And my profile picture is this little anime boy riding a dog or something, I don't know I found it cute XD

Anyways that's all for now! I'll update when I can, I love every single one of you reading and I hope you all have the greatest day/night.

I'll see you next time <3

Darcy
