I tried cheering him up after that and getting him distracted by other things, but....Nothing entirely seemed quite right, he seemed distant now, ever since the child.

And then it clicked.

"I have a gift I want to give you Jack." As soon as the words slipped out of my mouth Jack pivoted towards me and stared at me wide eyed in shock.

"A gift? But I can't give you anything in return!"  Chuckling, I shook my head and grabbed the other hand which I wasn't holding, sounding as sincere as I could. Even more than when he was staring at the child.

"You don't have to, we can share the gift together." He seemed reluctant, but as his eyes wandered the sky searching for an answer in the cloud, a smile faded in slowly and surely until it took up the whole bottom half of his face.

"If you're sure...Then I don't mind." a nod cutting off the conversation, I instantly let go of the hand I was just holding but made sure to keep one intertwined with his.

Rushing across the sidewalk knowing where we were and where the location that it was by heart I looked around before we crossed the street five hundred times before, while, and after we were crossing.

I saw the door and bolted towards it, so fast Jack didn't even have time to read the sign or look at the window case to give any spoilers, but boy do I know he'll love it.

As soon as I pushed the door open, the tiny bell rang above to tell the one at the cash register and everyone else who worked or was there at the time, and the gasp that came from behind me instantly notified me he loved the place.

Turning my head to see him, I saw tears shining in his eyes and the biggest smile I have ever seen as he ran over to see the puppies that were playing in the room behind the glass.

Following at a slower, less running like pace, the women at the cash gave me a cute smile and stood up from the chair walking over to us.

"You here to fan boy or to buy? Because both are completely fine." Her smile beamed brightly, but not as bright as Jack's, and when I mouthed the word 'buy', she nodded and walked to the door that led to the room.

Jack's eyes widening when he realised she was opening the door for us, he scrambled to his feet and walked hurriedly, sputtering a thank you as he pretty much dove onto the floor and was surrounded by happy puppies and dogs.

"I can't tell my own lover from the puppies, they're all so happy and excited." I laughed, the woman looking me up and down, she smiled humming in acknowledgement.

"So he is your lover. I was wondering, you're adorable together." Face catching fire, realising what I had said, I tried to cover it up but.. I just gave up towards the end of it.

"Oh uh...Thank you, I hadn't made it official and he was sad today so.. I brought him here." I explained. Nodding her head, Amy gave me a bright smile as she looked towards Jack who was covered in puppies that tripped over each other.

"Nice to see you with somebody Mark. I miss you around here working."

"College gets in the way of jobs." I explained, Amy nodding her head agreeing, she shoved it aside as soon as I saw an idea glimmer inside her eyes.

"Yeah yeah, what if he works here?"

"Then I'll never see him again." I chuckled. 

Amy throwing her head back as she laughed, my smile only grew wider to see that she was showing her real laugh, she doesn't usually do it because she's embarrassed in front of other people.

"You have a point there."

I know, it's not the usual amount, but I have so many books to update in so little time I'm minimizing the amount that I have to write because I have to get in 3 updates before 6am on Sunday where I drive off into the sunset for 10 days or so without wifi and I want to finish up one book, do a couple of others, and I'm leaving myself to the 500 word mark and maybe a little over depending on the book. I'm sorry if I'm not keeping the promises I made earlier, I just want to do as much as I can in the least amount of time possible. Sorry if you do or don't understand, I just want to make people happier even if it means cutting a limit for me once in a while, especially with occasions like these.
