Chapter 31
My feet trumped across the concrete sidewalk, gravel crunching under my feet and a gentle breeze hushed itself, pulling on the breaks too late earning a puff of fresh air to blow itself past my face pleasantly.
The scenery absorbed itself into my head and into my heart, and once I turned my head to look beside me Jack was gazing at everything as curious as he was the first time I got him out of that wretched asylum.
If our hands weren't intertwined, he'd probably be a million miles ahead by now enjoying the outside world and all it had, I know that as an absolute fact. We walked in sync, our feet landing and rising from the ground completely in harmony.
A sigh escaping my lips, my smile grew even wider only to have it wiped instantly off of my face when Jack stopped walking. His hand dropping to his side, severing our hands apart the comfortable silence we grasped in enrichment curdled leaving me riddled with worry.
Walking back towards Jack, I nudged him gently, in hopes of getting him to look at me. He obliged but... I was met with the most heart breaking expression I had ever seen on that poor face of his. His eyes were drenched and heavy with sadness, leaving me stunned and speechless.
Turning his head, this time I decided to follow his gaze and when my eyes landed on what he was staring at my stomach immediately flipped at how sickening it was to see from an outside perspective.
Jack was staring at a child.
The child didn't even take a moment or even the slimmest amount of seconds to look back to Jack, she kept going on wards with her life and sat on a bench, holding an ice cream that was held up by a cone.
The ice cream was chocolate, and the pale skinned child kicked her legs, swinging them as she sat on the bench in front of the ice cream vendor. Her legs were too short to even skid the sidewalk. She was a little girl.
A little girl, who had, a sort of ginger coloured hair that mixed with brown, she had straight, even bangs across her face but just short enough to see her big green eyes that swelled with happiness and wonder.
The ponytails that kept her hair up only made her more adorable, and the clothes looked so comfortable on her they could be mistaken as pyjamas. The story of the child I doubt we would ever even get a chance to know, she was a complete stranger, but Jack was staring at her so intently you would believe they knew each other well.
"I'm never going to have one of my own, am I?"
"I'm not sure." Jack breathing out a heavy laugh, when he continued staring at the child silently words flickered inside of my head and I blurt them all out into a sentence that I wanted to make sense and to make him feel better.
"I'd have children with you." Realising just how sincere I was, from the sound of my voice to how fast my heart had picked up speed, I warily glanced in Jack's direction but he was completely stiff.
Staring at Jack from an odd angle, I saw tear streaks replace the once dry patches of his perfect facial features. Taking a couple steps, and strolling around the side of him, I kneeled down and placed a supporting hand on his left knee.
Tears running down his face, Jack's arms reached up towards his face and let his thumbs try to wipe the tears away unsuccessfully, and after doing so, he slithered his left arm over my shoulder and his right hand cupped the side of my face.
Gazing into the sad, beaten down eyes, I flinched inwardly at the answer he had given me.
"I know you would."
=====================================================
Hey guys! Sorry it's been two, almost three weeks since an update, I know I keep saying this but I have been pretty busy, I'm running on all sorts of schedules, and I got back a week ago from a funeral and I've been giving myself a mental break away from everything,
I still want to finish this book before February so hopefully you'll get more updates often with this book and distorted, it might happen, it might not, we never know until the month is over.
I'm really sorry I haven't been here as much, I will try my best to update as much as I can but with everything going on I can't promise and I'm so sorry for that. I need to get my grades up for a lot of my classes and even though they aren't failing, they're not the best.
Term three just started, so I will probably not be on too too much, but I will try my absolute hardest to update at least once a week because you all deserve at the very least that much from me like I promised I would give you.
Hopefully I can get distorted updated soon, but again, no promises. Sorry guys for not being there but I really am trying <3
