"I promise that I'll bring him home," Barry Allen, dressed as the flash, promises Joe West. "I know,"Joe places a hand on his sons shoulder, "Barry I can't lose two sons." Refusing to let himself think of the choice that lies ahead Barry turns to Iris. Iris used to be the simplest part of Barry's life, but lately she has been the most confusing.
After flashpoint Barry and Iris progressed from friends to a couple to engaged in a matter of months, but the one thing Barry chose to ignore was quick to catch them. Iris wasn't his Iris. She was of course Iris, but circumstances caused by flashpoint created a difference between Barry's Iris and the after flashpoint Iris.

"He's coming home," Barry tells Iris all the while staying noticing closer to Joe. When Iris broke off the engagement because of Savitar she unknowingly gave Barry the grieving period he needed for post flashpoint Iris, thus allowing him to move on. "I know," Iris say weakly. Turning toward Caitlin and Cisco Barry's heart breaks. As much as it hurts leaving Joe and Iris, if possible, it hurts more for him to leave his friends. Reaching Cisco first Barry embraces his friend. Both nodding unspoken words Barry turn to Caitlin. With tears in both of their eyes, "Cait," Barry's voice breaks with the weight of his emotion after seeing her tearful eyes. He know what she needs to hear but he can't bare to lie to her, so instead he pulls her close.

"When I let you go you are on your own," Cisco tells Barry. Taking a deep breath Barry musters up a response. The second Ciscos hand is gone Barry is surrounded by nothing, except that the nothing is everything, it is the speed force.
