Chapter 7: The Negative Bomb!
Author's Side-Note: There is quite a lot of swearing in this, and there may or may not be blood spilled in this, and I did update the story to mention the use of profanity, but you have been warned in advance!
It had been a few days since the traumatic events of Nora's disappearance and, in Barry's case, Iris breaking up with the Scarlet Speedster. Physically Barry had been recovering well, in fact he had fully recovered physically however he still required frequent checkups to make sure nothing was wrong with him. Unfortunately, whilst physically he was healed...mentally and emotionally he still hadn't recovered, and both Caitlin and Cisco feared that the damage may be permanent.
Iris never came back to S.T.A.R. Labs at first, even after Joe had explained to her what had happened to Barry, but Joe had told the team, minus Barry, that she couldn't come back because of everything that was going on, and that she couldn't help Barry with what he was going through...however Joe hadn't counted on the fact that Barry had heard from the Time Vault...
Caitlin spent the most time around Barry, partly due to being a doctor and due to her medical expertise, but also because Caitlin seemed to be the one that Barry responded to the most out of everyone and was the only one who Barry seemed content on having in the room with. It wasn't as if Barry was isolating himself from everyone else, as he never turned away the company of the others either: but Caitlin's presence seemed to be the one that made the most difference out of the others.
Plus, as they had all found out, Barry had been suffering from nightmares and would replay the haunting images of Nora's capture within the Speed Force Trap every time he closed his eyes, even for brief moments, and Caitlin's presence seemed to be the only way that Barry would even try sleeping.
Barry never returned to his apartment, even after recovering enough to walk, and spent nearly all of his time in S.T.A.R. Labs, and even in S.T.A.R. Labs itself Barry was rarely seen leaving either the Time Vault or the stretcher bed. Team Flash knew that Frost Star had succeeded in breaking Barry.
Currently Caitlin and Cisco were in the Cortex trying to track down Frost Star or any of his potential associates: but for the last few days everything had been quiet and Barry's presence hadn't been needed with any other crimes, per Joe's suggestion to keep Barry away from the action for now. Both Caitlin and Cisco were concerned for Barry, as they knew they needed to get him out of S.T.A.R. Labs for a while, and into an actual bed as well instead of the floor of the Time Vault or the stretcher bed. It was then that Cisco had an idea...a rather surprising one...
"Hey, I just thought of something: why doesn't Barry stay at your place for a while?" the engineer said, much to the scientists shock and surprise. "How will that help Barry!?" she asked flustered, trying to hide away a blush that was threatening to overtake her on her face, which did amuse Cisco because he knew she was still crushing on Barry, even despite how he is currently, before responding with a rather logical reason.
"I'm not suggesting in that sense, but think about it: if he's at your place, you can check on him if he looks uncomfortable or in pain and help him out, he won't have to return to his apartment or worry about Iris potentially appearing out of the blue...and he'll be able to sleep a lot easier knowing you're there to keep an eye on him."
Caitlin was surprised by his logic, and at how true his words were as well. Whilst it wouldn't help with her feelings for the speedster, and it might cause certain events to occur that both parties could later on regret, staying at her place would help Barry in the long run and get him away from S.T.A.R. Labs. Caitlin nodded a bit in understanding, before turning as she saw Barry entering the Cortex silently before Cisco had noticed. Cisco nudged Cait's shoulder a bit and indicated to Barry, and she understood what he was referring to now.
Caitlin though decided that asking in S.T.A.R. Labs wasn't the best idea, so she came up with a plan of her own to get Barry out of the place for a while. She got up and walked over to her speedster friend whilst he was sitting down on a chair near the stretcher bed, staring vacantly at nothing in particular until Caitlin entered, before Caitlin softly spoke "Barry? Can I ask you something?"
Barry immediately turned to look at Cait upon hearing her voice alone, something that had become more common in the last few days, though he remained silent and nodded his head slowly in response. Caitlin pulled up a chair and sat in front of the speedster, before smiling warmly at him and beginning to speak softly once again. "I was...wondering if you would like to take a walk with me to Jitters? You don't have to come at all, and I won't pressure you to, but it would be good for you to get away from her for a while. Plus you won't be alone."
Barry looked like he was thinking on that after the suggestion, and Caitlin hoped that she hadn't pushed him too much...but to her relief Barry nodded slowly as he throatily said "Okay...I'd like that..." Caitlin smiled at that a bit, before getting up slowly "I'll get my..." she was about to finish when Barry sped off briefly and returned just as quickly holding Caitlin's coat and bag as she finished saying "...coat."
She rolled her eyes in amusement at that, which she was pleased to see got a small smile to appear on Barry's face at that for a brief time. "You know, I missed you doing that." she said with a slight giggle in voice, to her own surprise that even Barry noticed, even if he respectively never pointed it out for her.
"Shall we?" Caitlin asked, to which Barry nodded as they walked out, with Cisco seeing what they were doing with a smirk of victory at that. It was a small triumph, getting Barry out of S.T.A.R. Labs, but a triumph none-the-less. As they walked off to Jitters: Caitlin and Barry stole glances at each other every-so-often and, unknowingly, blushed at this. It was a little strange seeing Barry not using his speed needlessly, but she didn't mind it at all. She accepted Barry and his need to use his speed when he chooses or needed to a long time ago, just as years ago she had accepted Barry for being Barry, with or without his speed.
When they arrived at Jitters: they both went up to the counter and ordered their drinks...well, Caitlin ordered them, but it was because she offered and this was her idea, and she felt that Barry shouldn't have to pay for this, especially in his fragile state of mind. Upon getting their drinks, they walked over to a table near a window and sat silently on the chairs: Caitlin looking around Jitters every once in a while and sometimes the man in front of him, whilst Barry either just looked absent-mildly out of the window at nothing in particular or, for the most part, between his cup and drink or Cait. But both enjoyed the silence and neither pushed the other to speak.
"Thank you...for bringing me here..." Barry eventually spoke after a while, smiling a small smile, which caused Caitlin to look up at Barry and smile to him as well. "You're welcome, Barry." she responded, before slowly and cautiously placing a hand on one of his that was presently on the table and not holding the coffee cup. To her surprise: he doesn't flinch in this event, in fact he one-ups her and moves his other hand from his coffee cup to on top of her hand.
"Can I ask something...that you don't have to answer...?" the speedster asked, and Caitlin was hit with a wave of nostalgia at the question: since Barry had asked the same question to her when they had been going against Kyle Nimbus, aka "The Mist" as Cisco had nicknamed him, not that long after Barry had become The Flash. She retorted using the same response she originally gave him at that time, simply nodding without a word, but not without a small smile.
"When...when that night night came around...when Nora was forced into that...that prison...how did you react?" he asked, and the question took Cait by surprise, but she answered all the same. "To be honest...I was heart-broken. Not just because of what Nora meant to you and Iris, or because she was as much a family member to the rest of us as she was to you two...but also because of the impact it had on you, and because of who trapped her...You of all people, Barry, don't deserve to have all the bad things happen to you, considering how good of a person you are."
Barry was silent for a while, but soon he placed a couple of fingers slowly onto her hand before speaking. "You're more than I deserve in a friend, Cait...And you're a better friend then I am..." Caitlin was surprised by that admission from Barry, even if she didn't agree with it, especially since Barry had been trying to be a good friend again to her and Cisco. She could feel herself slowly inching towards Barry slowly, though if he noticed it or not was unknown to her right now...but unfortunately, for now at least, fate had other things planned...
Soon Caitlin's phone interrupted them and she took out her phone, and gave Barry and apologetic look before answering her phone, seeing that the caller ID was from Cisco. "Yes Cisco?" she asked, wondering to herself what potential reason he could have had for interrupting them now. "We need you and Barry right now! It's Joe! He was kidnapped on his way to CCPD!"
She looked to Barry with a grave and worried look on her face, and Barry instantly recognized that something was wrong. The two arrived back at S.T.A.R. Labs as soon as they could, and immediately Caitlin, in Barry's place, shouted to Cisco in concern "Where's Joe!?" "I don't know, but Ralph called and confirmed that Joe was kidnapped by a guy in some sort of cloak and mask, along with half of the people on the block at the time!"
Caitlin became concerned at that: she had liked the detective a lot, as like Barry he had been rather excepting of Caitlin on a number of occasions, and he was like a father figure to her, something she had missed a lot since losing her dad. She turned to look at Barry...and the look that he had on his face terrified her more than she cared to admit: his face was a mix of rage-stricken that teetered on the verge of exploding, and grief-stricken on the verge of breaking like a broken dam, if either were possible. And he was clenching his hands tightly whilst static electricity sparked one-and-off repeatedly from his hands.
Caitlin walked over to Barry and tried to calm him down a bit soothingly. "We'll find Joe, Barry, I promise." Barry immediately looked over to her, and as if trusting her every word immediately and without hesitation: he nodded his head slowly and began to calm down a little, but other than that he never said a word, which only added to Cait's worries for Barry. It was times like this that she wished Killer Frost was still with her...or her version anyway.
Cisco began to try and track down Joe, but was having little success. Whoever had kidnapped Joe was either precise and smart, or a professional who knew what he was doing, and this only seemed to make Barry more uneasy and off-balance then he already was. Cisco and Caitlin could both see their speedster friend was pacing around the room constantly at a slow pace as he continued to look at the monitor.
Ralph soon arrived, but Barry was the only one not to notice him enter, which given what Barry was going through right now was completely understandable, and Ralph soon asked in a whisper to Caitlin and Cisco "How's Barry holding up?" Caitlin looked over her shoulders directly to Barry, replying with obvious worry and concern in her voice. "Not well...he's been like this for the last hour..."
Ralph nodded slowly, before they soon they heard some sort of alert going off as the screens in the Cortex began to start acting strangely, as if being hacked, which in theory shouldn't be happening considering Felicity had helped to make the Cortex hack-free more-or-less in the past! Soon a strange and distorted voice began to play in the background despite the static.
"Hello Flash! I believe you are looking for your dear old foster father, Joe West. Well, if you want him, then come and find me! The clock is ticking!" Then everything went back to normal, and everyone looked towards Barry...and were scared when they saw Barry at breaking point again, his clenched teeth showing in a snarl-like look, and electricity sparking off of his entire body.
He soon then screamed in rage before speeding out in his Flash suit out of S.T.A.R. Labs before anybody could stop him and began racing incredibly fast...but something felt different about him when he left...and then both Cisco and Caitlin noticed some of the floor had been torn up by Barry! Something was very wrong!
Barry raced as fast as he could around Central City on nothing but rage, anxiousness, and full on murderous intent for anyone who tried to take Joe from him. Barry though had his attention focused on rescuing Joe and, shockingly, enacting revenge that he didn't notice something was happening to him: his lightning briefly began letting off sparks of either purple or black lightning at rare sporadic moments.
Meanwhile in S.T.A.R. Labs: both Cisco and Caitlin were trying to track down both Barry and Joe as quickly as they could...but to Cisco's surprise he soon picks up the signal for Joe's phone out in the ocean a fair distance away from Central City, on the sea itself.
"Barry! Barry, can you hear us? Joe's phone signal is coming from the sea just outside of Central City: he must be on a boat of sorts!" Barry didn't respond, but his signal on the monitors showed he had heard as he was running towards an area to run on the water...but soon Ralph came into the Cortex and said frantically "Guys! I just got off the phone with Central City Hospital: Joe was admitted there less than 20 minutes ago with mild concussions, but his phone had been taken!"
"Barry! Barry can you hear me!?" Caitlin nearly shouted into the comm, but all she got was static, and all they saw was Barry racing on the screen towards where the phone signal was coming from...it was a trap!
Frost Star's Personal Observation:
I watched the screen in my lair with a neutral expression as I saw the speed signature of The Flash speeding off towards where Detective West's phone had been left. Everything was going to plan. Truth be told using such a method that was used, kidnapping Joe West, had been unnecessary but had proved useful none-the-less. He was dad's last parental figure and was as important to The Flash as the entirety of Team Flash.
"I hope this plan works." I heard behind me, the voice of my most trusted alley. I nodded slowly in agreement. "It'll work. And if it doesn't...well, he'll wish it had worked, needless to say, and will wish he had been killed by the Negative Bomb." I continued to look at the screen, and thought to myself 'How how you come out of this, Flash, when you become your own worst enemy?'
End of Pov.:
Barry, still running on adrenaline, fear and anger, was now reaching the boat that Joe's phone had been tracked to. The rational part of Barry knew that something wasn't right, and that this could be a trap...but unfortunately, the rational part of him wasn't working right now!
Had Caitlin been there, then he would have been able to try to think things more clearly: but she wasn't here with him, not physically anyway. Mentally, spiritually, and most definitely emotionally she was with him...but he was still not thinking strait regardless. Going out as The Flash not long after what happened to Nora was definitely a bad idea, but nobody was going to be able to stop this angry speedster!
Barry soon reached the ship and managed to board it, though the ship in question was some sort of cargo ship that seemed deserted. Barry though didn't care, as he shouted out "JOE! JOE! JOE, WHERE ARE YOU!?! IT'S ME, BARRY, I'M HERE TO HELP!" He searched through all the containers on the top of the ship, but they were either all empty or full of damaged goods, which confused the speedster more...until he heard a now all-to-familiar voice on the ships speakers...Frost Star's voice!
"Hello, Barry. It's been a while, hasn't it?" Barry found it hard to keep in anger in check, feeling his rage boiling up to the surface once again. "WHERE'S JOE!?! WHAT HAVE YOU DONE WITH HIM FROST!?!" he exploded out in rage, but the only response that the Scarlet Speedster got from the Frozen Speedster was a calm and neutrally tone response. "I wasn't the one who took Detective West, nor was it my idea to take him. Though I can't say the same for one of my goons. We can both blame him for Detective West's capture and concussion."
Barry wasn't paying attention, though he had been admittedly surprised that Frost had not been responsible for Joe's kidnapping. But that to him made little difference. "WHY WAS HE TAKEN!?!" Frost remained neutral in his tone, not an ounce of humour nor malice in his voice as he spoke. "He wasn't the original target, but after what I heard happened with your precious Iris West, my trigger happy goon of an employee had to find someone else close to you to draw you out here...figures he'd go for the father instead, but the result was just the same never-the-less."
"WHERE IS JOE!?!" Barry shouted again, his temper clearly a thing in the past right now at his family being put in harms way, regardless if he and Iris were now divorced, or over as a couple. This time Frost did laugh a bit, though it lacked humour. "Someone's losing their cool...glad to see. That will make things all the more sweeter! But if you want to find Detective West...well, look underneath." And with that, it went silent: no Frost Star speaking on the speakers, no nothing except the sounds of the water crashing against the ship, and the sound of Barry seething in rage.
The angry speedster sped down into the lower levels of the cargo ship, calling out to Joe as he went along...but that's when things went to hell! As soon as he entered near the lowest levels of the ship: he soon saw a strange device at the end of the room, and device that looked as if it was concealing someone, or more specifically something in this case, within itself.
This immediately grabbed Barry's attention, as within his less-than-rationally-thinking mind he assumed that Joe was within it and he immediately sped into the room to try and open it up...and then the door to the room itself shut behind him before sealing itself and becoming locked, trapping The Flash within the room! He immediately noticed this and bashed his hands against the window of the door. "HEY! LET ME OUT OF HERE!" Barry shouted as he smashed his fist against the glass...only to receive a maniacal laugh in response as someone began to appear from the shadows.
"You know, I always did love hearing supposed super-heroes trying to escape from certain death!" the voice said, before a person came out of the shadows: he was dressed exactly like Barry's Green Arrow friend, Oliver Queen, back during Oliver's days of being a vigilante, only difference was that he was wearing a mixture of dark blue and black hooded and combat-based clothing, and his right arm was entirely cybernetic, making him a cyborg if you will, and looked like it could also double as a bow if needed. He also wore an ordinary bow on his back as well alongside multiple arrows. He definitely wasn't someone that Barry had seen before though, that much he did know.
"Who are you!?!" Barry shouted, though not as loudly as he had done when speaking to Frost Star over the speakers, and the archer simply smirked with a sadistic smirk on his face, even if only his lower jaw could be seen through the hood, before responding. "My name is inconsequential, Flash, all I will say however is that Mr. Queen's descendants don't all fight for the side of justice!"
He then pointed towards the device behind Barry as he spoke. "Oh, by the way, just a suggestion but...you might want to look behind you!" And Barry did, turning his head as the device began to activate, and began opening up...revealing a bomb-like device that was glowing a mix of dark purple and black colours sporadically, much to Barry's shock. The archer just laughed again as he turned his back to the speedster.
"I may have kidnapped your precious little adoptive father, Flash...but I never brought him here! My bosses let me keep the phone to draw you out and left him at the hospital, for whatever boring reason. And YOU fell for the trap!" Barry turned towards the archer as he began walking away, showing a trigger switch in his left hand as he said "This is were we say "ta ta" now, Flash! I'd say it was a pleasure...but that would be a lie!" And with that he pressed his finger down on the trigger switch, and the bomb began to go critical as the archer ran off.
"HEY!!!" Barry shouted after him, before trying to faze himself through the door to get out...with no success at all! And then...it went off!
The archer made his way quickly to the top of the ship and onto the only boat that the cargo ship had just as the explosions began to cascade throughout the hull of the ship. The boat dropped down into the water, and then he got its motor to work before driving the boat began to speed away into the distance as the ship became enveloped in multiple explosions of dark purple energy. The archer just smirked a sadistic smirk, savioring every explosion and the results that came from it with sick pleasure!
"All too easy!" he said as he continued to watch as he from the distance, seeing a giant maelstrom of dark purple energy where the ship had been, and it remained there when he reached land and within seeing distance, and the archer just gave a sick smirk.
"Hey, ass-hole!" He heard, and he turn briefly...before his cybernetic arm became impaled by three icicles! "Son of a...!" The archer grimaced, somehow able to feel the pain despite it not being an arm of flesh and blood...and then when he looked over at who fired it, he saw 2 pissed off people having appeared from a Rift portal: one was Cisco in his Vibe getup...and the other, to the shock of the archer...was Killer Frost!
A few minutes previous at S.T.A.R. Labs:
Cisco and Caitlin had managed to get through all the static just minutes before the bomb off, both praying that they had gotten through with enough time to contact with Barry, Caitlin more so out of the two because she couldn't bare to lose another person she cared about: but as soon as they brought up a feed of the cargo ship, somehow, and attempted to contact their speedster friend...the ship began to explode in multiple areas, starting from the bottom of the ship where Barry had been, not that they knew it!
Caitlin felt her hands clasp over her lower jaw and tears begin to fall from her eyes as they saw the explosions go off all over the ship. Barry was still on the ship, and he hadn't gotten out! No words could be formed from Cisco, how could they? He was seeing a ship with one of his best friends blowing up in strange purple explosions, and there was nothing they could do to stop it!
For Caitlin, it was the complete opposite, for she could find words to say...but they escaped her for the majority of it, only managing to say one word in this instance "Barry...!" They both noticed out of the corner of their eyes the smaller boat that the archer had occupied leaving the scene, and soon Cisco's facial expressions hardened alongside Caitlin's...and that's when Cisco noticed the temperature of the room getting surprisingly colder.
"Caitlin...?" He began, as he turned his head to look to the said person, only to be left shocked and slightly fearful when Caitlin's hair turned icy white, her skin went an icy shade paler, and her eyes changed to the icy white that he knew all too well: somehow, someway, Killer Frost was back! And boy, did she look ready to kill!
"I'm going to enjoy killing whoever took Barry from Caity!" she said coldly, pun very much intended, before looking to Cisco with a look that spoke of her wanting to enact vengeance and revenge that he had not seen in months. He nodded to that simply with the same feelings in mind, before tracking down the boat.
Present Time:
"I'm going to enjoy watching you die!" Killer Frost spoke as she used her powers to create sharp icy daggers in her hands, one of which she threw to Cisco for him to use, which he caught. The archers pained expression soon morphed into one of blood lust and eagerness for violence, if that's even a thing, before smashing his cybernetic arm into the ground, surprisingly shattering the icicles embedded deep inside of it and causing the arms mechanical bow to appear as well.
"I just killed The Flash! Killing his meta-human buddies won't be hard!" He said as he pointed to the dark purple maelstrom of energy far off in the distance for clarification, which only served to enrage both Killer Frost and Caitlin more by that as Killer Frost began to charge at the archer with murderous intent, Cisco following behind moments afterwards!
The archer launched two arrows at the two meta-humans in rather quick succession one-after-the-other, but Frost was able to dodge out the way and Cisco got rid of the one aimed at him with a smaller portal, sending the bow god knows where! Soon though he had to resort to going on both the defensive and the offensive with his mechanical arm bow once Killer Frost got close enough to strike at him and started taking swings at him too.
He was able to either dodge hers and Cisco's swings at him, Cisco's more easily than Killer Frosts as the former didn't seem too skilled with his icy dagger compared to the latter, or block and parry the attacks with his bow somehow as if it were a make-shift sword, but Killer Frost was relentless still and did not hold back!
The archer though appeared to be just as good in melee combat as he was at kidnapping and trapping people: when he wasn't able to block and parry his foes attacks: he was inventing techniques to counter them and get out the way, and when he was able to attack: he was precise and knew exactly where to strike to deal the most damage, even though the likelihood of his mechanical bow killing Cisco or Killer Frost was slim unless done the right way, something he wasn't doing currently.
Killer Frost though was even more vicious then normal, and with good reason: he and Frost Star had messed with Barry, hers and Caitlin's Barry in her mind: and she wasn't about to let the archer get away with that! And she soon managed to get her message across to the archer in a big way: as her icy blade sliced across his shoulder when his guard was briefly down: cutting deeply into his shoulder and causing blood to be spilled and for him to grimace in pain.
"First blood to us." Killer Frost spoke with a triumphant smirk before continuing on with her attack, managing to force back the archer and gain a lot of ground against him...but soon they heard something in the distance that caused the three of them to look where the dark purple maelstrom began to fold in and collapse on itself, before vanishing completely, making Killer Frost, Caitlin and Cisco assume that something worse than what they had seen earlier had happened...if only they knew...
But the distraction was enough for the archer: with his foes distracted, he smashed his cybernetic fist over the back of Killer Frosts head, knocking her down on the ground with a concussion, even if she somehow managed to remain conscious, before smashing Cisco in the face with his flesh and blood fist and knocked him down too! He then glared at the icy meta-human who had caused his blood to be spilled, and pointed an arrow at the back of her head as he armed his bow.
"Time to die!" the archer said, and he prepared to fire...before suddenly he heard something approaching from the sea, and just as he turned to shoot in its direction: he was tackled down to the ground with an almighty thud by something running at him at super-human speeds...or should I say, someone!
Cisco and Killer Frost looked at where the person had stopped, and to their shock, as well as Caitlin and Killer Frosts relief, there in front of them was Barry, alive and well! But, their smiles faded quickly when they got a better look at him...something was wrong with Barry, because he now looked a lot more different than earlier...and he had the look of a predator hunting his prey on his face!
His suit was now a darker shade of red, his once red gloves and boots with yellow lightning bolts on the end of the sleeves were completely black and looked like they fit tightly to his hands, most of the yellow parts or lightning bolts that were on his suit and mask were completely black now, and his white emblem with the yellow lightning bolt in the center of the suit was white in the background with a pitch-black lightning bolt in the center and yellow trimmings around the emblem...but what was most shocking was that Barry's skin was now charcoal grey, his eyes were now dark red, and the lightning coming off his body was a mix of black and dark purple!
"Barry...?" Cisco asked slowly, but Barry didn't hear him! The archer tried to fire multiple arrows at Barry in rapid succession...but Barry either caught and snapped them with his hands with little ease, or his speed lightning disintegrated them to ashes before they could even connect!
"You...are going to pay...for what you did to Joe...and what you did to ME!!!" Barry roared angrily, his voice sounding deeper, more throatily and harsher than before, before he grabbed the archer by the shirt and began to speed off across the water whilst smashing one of his fists into his face, blooding him more, whilst simultaneously creating waves on the water as he sped fast on the water! After a few moments: he returned to the shore and smashed the archer down into a nearby tree, before furiously snapping his mechanical arm in half with ease, much to Killer Frosts and Cisco's shock!
Barry soon raised his hand into the air and it began vibrating quite fast...but soon he was stopped when he heard an all too familiar voice behind him: Killer Frost's voice. "Barry, stop!" Barry heard that instantly, and immediately looked over to where she was...and the look of fear and concern on her face, Caitlin's face, hit him instantly, and immediately caused him to stop what he was doing, and drop the now passed out archer down on the ground.
Killer Frost managed to get up and walked over slowly towards Barry, saying as she did so. "This isn't you, Barry: you're not a monster, and you're not a murderer like he is. You're better than them." Barry felt himself backing up a bit, in fear of hurting her if she came closer, but Frost didn't stop, and soon she wrapped her arms around him and pulled him into a tight hug that normally only Caitlin ever gave him, but the result was the same regardless: as Barry felt himself wrapping his arms around her instantly in response.
"You're a good person, Barry." she said, and like Caitlin: her words were like honey to Barry, and were resonating within him instantly. "Cait..." he said, barely audible but something she still heard regardless...and Frost managed to smile a bit regardless, even if she was a different side to Caitlin. He soon felt himself feeling quite faint though, and slowly he felt his legs give out and his eyes become heavy as he fell onto the ground, passing out in Killer Frosts arms as they fell to the ground.
"Barry!" both Frost and Caitlin said at the same time, as Caitlin suddenly regained control, mostly because Frost knew she needed to in order to help him, before Cisco walked over to the archer and cuffed him before running over to his two friends: concern all over Cait's and Cisco's faces as they tried to wake up Barry...unaware that, somewhere else, someone was watching....
Frost Star's personal observation:
I watched everything that had gone down: from the ship exploding with dad on it, to the archer trying to kill mum and Cisco, despite the fact I had given him specific orders not to, and I know for a fact he has seen what she looked like...and, most intriguingly, Flash had been changed by what had occurred with the Negative Bomb. Admittedly he had anticipated that this might have been an eventuality...but he hadn't expected the results to be as they were, and he had to admit he kind of liked it.
"I've got to say...even I liked what I saw with Flash just now...if he can even be called 'The Flash' any more..." I said with slight amusement, crossing my arms as I looked to my ally who nodded in agreement. "It wasn't what was planned, but it is certainly...effective. What now?" she asked, to which I shrugged a little. "Now we wait, and see how they respond to this."
I began to walk off, but I soon heard her asking as I did "And our little archer 'friend'?" I stopped at that briefly and looked over to her from across my shoulders. "What about him? He broke from the plan: he gets what he deserves." And with that I began to walk away, smirking a bit as I said to myself silently "How will your respond to this now, mum and dad?"
Author's Side-Note: With Killer Frost back and Barry alive, things look brighter for Caitlin...but things are not all as rosy as they seem: Barry does not have full control of his new powers, and they appear to be affecting his health badly as well. Can Caitlin and Killer Frost help Barry and help him regain control? And when two speedy friends return to S.T.A.R. Labs, can they help Cait become whole again too? Only time will tell....
