Chapter 6: A Night Out With Friends!
It had been a few days since Barry and Caitlin had started dating and had become a couple after Barry's near-death experience: and the two were practically inseparable whenever they had the chance to be together, and were happier then anyone could possibly imagine, which was saying something. The two seemed even more in sync with each other then they had been before Snart and Rory had kidnapped Barry and Killer Frost had taken control, and that seemed to affect their work in S.T.A.R. Labs in a positive way as well.
They couldn't be together all the time, of course, as Cait's super hero life as The Flash took up quite a fair bit of their days. They also knew when to be professional on the job as well, as both demonstrated on a number of occasions on some of Caitlin's more trickier meta-human cases when they would go either full scientist mode, full detective mode, or full doctor and patient mode afterwards.
Cisco, Joe and Wells thought it was rather commendable yet surprising that the two were able to switch between being a loving couple that seemed in sync with each other nearly all of the time, to being professional work colleagues without worry. Admittedly they weren't perfect, but then again what couple ever is, but they always talked it out and made time for each other to resolve the issue. The two though had decided to take things, ironically, slowly at first, but that didn't mean that there wasn't an annoying amount of kissing going on...or at least that was what Cisco thought at least.
Currently, "Team Flash" was working on a new case that Joe had inquired them to check out as a favour to him, and because he thought that a Meta-Human had been involved in the case: somehow one of the prisoners of Iron Heights Prison, a guy named Clay Parker, had managed to escape the supposed impenetrable and hardest prison ever to escape in Central City, yet neither the officers nor forensic teams could determine how.
Joe had managed to get written copies of the forensic analysis data, as well as some copies of the crime scene photos and written statements from the case, and currently the team were going through the evidence and details now. For Caitlin, it had been a relatively quiet day crime wise, which was a blissful relief for the speedster as it gave her both time to train and improve her speed...and spend more time with Barry whilst they worked on the case.
They had managed to determine that there was another person at the scene, and, with a little help from some DNA picked up at the crime scene and delivered to them by Joe, they had discovered that this other person was a Meta named Shawna Baez, though none of them yet knew what powers she had.
Currently Caitlin had arrived at the lab a few minutes early, deciding to not use her speak to get in despite the major temptation to do so, and she was surprised to see that Barry was already in the Cortex checking something on one of the computers. Barry Allen not being late? Now that was surprising in of itself. She smiled upon seeing him, even though his back was turned at the minute focusing on the work, but as soon as she started walking over, he turned to see her upon hearing her heels clicking on the floor and he smiled at her with his trademark Barry Allen smile that she always loved seeing.
"Morning Cait." he spoke to her, and she blushed a little at his use of that name. Barry was one of the elite few she had ever let call her that, yet now it just seemed right and even more special hearing it from him. "Barry Allen on time. I must be seeing things." she teased in response, before capturing his lips in a quick yet loving kiss when he began rolling his eyes in amusement at her playful jab at him, a kiss that he returned.
"Very funny." Barry said in an amused tone when they parted from the kiss, before sitting on a chair near the computer he was working on. Caitlin got out of her coat and put her bag down after placing her coffee down. "So, what brings you here at this time of the day?" she asked sweetly, to which Barry smiled at a bit as he pointed to the screen. "I was analyzing the particulate samples from the crime scene at Iron Heights that Clay Parker and Shawna Baez left behind. Something didn't seem right about it, so I thought I'd come in early. And the results were rather...interesting, to say the least."
"What do you mean?" Caitlin asked as she raises her eyebrow to that, moving over next to him to have a look, Barry speaking professionally as he explained. "When Parker's and Baez's cell came into contact with one another: it was if Parker's cells were adopting Baez's properties. Also..." He looked at the speedster and noticed that she seemed rather bothered, even though she had been paying attention, as she was biting her lower lip.
"Something bothering you, Cait?" he asked, causing her to snap out of her thoughts as she looked over towards him with a blush. "Why would you ask...that?" she responded, albeit a little confused, to which he responded with a teasing smirk. "You're doing that biting your lower lip thing that you do whenever something is bothering you...which, by the way, is rather cute."
She blushed at that more, though tried to hide it a bit, before beginning to stand up straight crossing her arms across her chest. "Cisco said that I don't have a life." Barry had to resist the urge to not laugh, but he couldn't stop the smirk that appeared on his face, a smirk that the speedster noticed, yet her seriousness was over shadowed by a smirk she was unable to keep away. "I do have a life! I cook, I eat, and I read...and I save the world...and I'm dating you."
Barry couldn't help but tease her on that. "So, what you're saying is: you do almost everything that has nothing to do with having a life?" The speedster playfully hit his shoulder at that, even if she knew he was only teasing her. "You don't have to be rude about it."
He chuckled a bit at that. "Hey, I'm not doing any better than you. I was practically dead for years, and now my social life consists of helping you guys and Netflix. And most importantly dating you too." "We are quite the pair, Mr Allen." Cait soon said with a smirk, with Barry nodding in response and smiling back. "Yes we are Dr. Snow."
They smiled at each other, before Caitlin walked closer to Barry and hugged him briefly, which he returned with one arm. "I'm glad you're here, Barry." she whispered...but unfortunately, before Barry could respond, they were rudely interrupted by their computers by a new crime going down. "Looks like there's an armed robbery in progress: 2 suspects, male and female in their 20's." Barry said as he looks to his speedster girlfriend with a knowing smirk.
"Looks like our Meta-Human "Bonnie and Clyde" are at it again." he finished, before Caitlin giggled a bit as she responded to that "Time to ruin their social life." She planted a quick kiss on Barry's cheek before using her speed to change out of her heels, into her suit, and off to stop both Parker and Baez, with Barry monitoring her progress from the Cortex as she went to work.
By the time Caitlin had returned to S.T.A.R. Labs: Barry was patching her up and, somehow, managing to remain slightly professional in front of Cisco and Wells...despite the fact that Caitlin had been shot at and the bullet had grazed her neck, barely breaking the skin because she was just fast enough to catch the bullet, and despite Barry wanting to worry over her and fuss over her like mad for nearly getting killed!
"This is a bullet wound! You're lucky it barely broke the skin." he said in as much of a professional, yet still worried, tone of voice as he finished cleaning up the blood as her speed help with the injury. Barry wasn't the best when it came to patching up, as Caitlin and Cisco had found out when the 3 of them were still students, but he still knew enough to do a decent job.
Caitlin felt bad for making Barry worry so much, though she couldn't help but take a page out of his book as she resorted to teasing him with a teasing smirk. "I guess I'm a lot faster than a speeding bullet, aren't I?" Barry rolled his eyes at that a bit, though he did appreciate her attempt at deflating the situation with humour for his benefit. Soon Cisco entered the Cortex from the hallway as Dr. Wells entered from the lab within the Cortex.
The speedster noticed this and looked to hers and Barry's Meta-Human friend and boss whilst Barry began clearing up the med kit, and she then began to speak on what happened. "Shawna Baez can teleport. I saw it when I tried to stop her and Clay Parker." Barry and Cisco were confused yet, in Cisco's case, equally surprised by that before Cisco asked "As in "Beam me up" Shawna!?", his Star Trek geeky knowledge showing through, much to the amusement of the others in the room.
"Of course! Quantum Entanglement!" Dr. Wells soon said as he realized how this was occurring, though at the confused looks of Barry and the intrigued looks of Caitlin and Cisco, he explained it further, rather eagerly and excitedly, through both his hands movements and his words. "The ability to move interconnected particles across an infinite distance! Or, as Einstein put it: spooky action at a distance."
"Every time I tried to catch her she disappeared. It was almost as if we were playing a game of..." Caitlin began as she remembered what she experienced...before to hers and Cisco's surprised, though more Cisco's annoyance in this case, Barry came up with both the game she was thinking of, and a Meta-Human name for Shawna. "Peck-a-Boo." At both of their looks, and Wells's amused look, Barry simply says with a smirk and a shrug. "What? Come on, can't I name one?"
Caitlin restrained herself from giggling at that, but still smiled all the same at his attempt. "How am I supposed to catch her, though, if I don't have a clue where she'll be?" she asked, to which their boss gave a knowing smile before responding "Everyone has limits, Caitlin. Now that we know that she has powers: we can work to figure out those limits." And soon Wells headed off as Cait began to stand up as Barry put away the med kit. Caitlin saw that Cisco had a mischievous smirk on his face.
"Okay, Cisco, what's going on?" she asked, crossing her arms across her chest as she looked at him with a serious look, and Barry looked over as well with a confused look on his face. Cisco's smirk only grew before finally speaking. "Okay, so I was thinking "When's the last time that the three of us spent time together as a trio outside of S.T.A.R. Labs or school?", and then it hit me: we should all totally head out and have a night out at the bar! Especially since you two are now a couple!"
Caitlin rolls her eyes a bit in amusement at Cisco's mindset, but Barry is the first to answer, and his answer surprises them both. "I can't get drunk, Cisco." They both looked to Barry, and Cisco had a look of disbelief whilst Cait had a look of just surprise, before Cisco asked as if not believing him "Come again now?"
"I can't get drunk. And, trust me when I say this: both me and Killer Frost have tried. Frost more so than me, admittedly. Might be a side-effect of his powers, but...yeah. I literally feel nothing when I drink alcohol." The speedster smiled a bit at that, knowing the feeling, whilst Cisco said as he face-palmed into his hands. "So, let me get this straight: you're what, 25? And your drinking days are over like Caitlin's?"
Barry nodded to that, before confusion washed over his face and he looked to his girlfriend. "You can't get drunk either, Cait?" Caitlin shook her head biting her lower lip. "Apparently my hyper-metabolism prevents me from getting drunk or feeling any of the effects of alcohol, besides the taste of course." Barry couldn't help but smirk at that, but Cisco soon says. "Well...at least I'll have two people sober enough to get me back home."
Barry and Caitlin rolled their eyes simultaneously, both feeling like parents looking after their kid in regards to Cisco, even if, in hindsight, this was the farthest thing from the truth and was more-or-less normal when it came to the three of them. Barry was the first to speak, though. "You know what? What the hell, it might be fun. I have no plans tonight." He looked to the speedster in front of him with a small smirk, and she relented as she smiled and nodded in agreement. "Okay, I'll come too."
Neither Barry nor Caitlin noticed Cisco celebrating his little victory as he left the room, before Barry looked to Caitlin and smirked. "Don't tell Cisco this...but he actually did have a good idea then, at least from a trio standpoint." Barry said as he crossed his arms across his chest, which Caitlin rolled her eyes at that. "He normally does. It's just we're either too busy to do anything...or they end up with him going off on his own to flirt with somebody without us knowing or him getting drunk." she responded, much to the amusement of Barry.
A few hours later: Barry and Cisco were already at a nearby bar, one that was picked for a number of reasons: 1. It was one that Shawna Baez and Clay Parker used to hangout at, so they could attempt to kill 2 birds with one stone if they appeared, 2. Cisco insisted that a bar was a good enough place for his meta-human friends to have a date, even though they disagreed with that, and 3. It had a karaoke event going on, and both Cisco and Caitlin were determined to get Barry to sing on the stage if it was the last thing they did tonight...though they may have forgotten to mention to Barry that the bar had karaoke...
Cisco was getting the drinks in whilst Barry was sitting and waiting at the table for him to get back and for Caitlin to arrive, watching someone attempting to sing on stage, though the key word there was "attempting". Cisco soon came over with the drinks and sat next to Barry, noticing his slight impatience. "Dude, she'll be here soon! You know how she is when it comes to going out. She always wants everything to be perfect...especially when it came to impressing you..."
Cisco made no attempt at mumbling or speaking quietly at the last part, so Barry heard it and had to fight back a blush. But Cisco's fun at his friends expense was not done yet: because soon Caitlin began to walk into the bar and over towards the two of them in a black dress that revealed a lot of her legs and a little above, and some high heels that were more for going on a night out then for everyday wear like the ones she wears at home.
Barry was the first to spot Caitlin, and upon seeing her his jaw dropped and he looked like he was eyeing her up, much to the amusement of Cisco, and causing Cait to blush in embarrassment at how her boyfriend was looking at her as well. "What?" she asked nervously, hoping that the look Barry was giving her was one that said that he liked her look and nothing bad, but Barry was quick to reassure her with a smile. "Wh-Nothing, you look really nice!" he said, causing Cait to blush more and smile at the compliment.
"I don't always dress as a high school principle, as you both know." she responded, sitting down on a chair right next to Barry, and kissing him on the cheek as she did so. She was glad that, even with them dating, she could still surprise Barry even now. Cisco handed her the drink he had bought her, and Cisco smirked to his speedster friend with a knowing smirk as he pointed to the stage with his fingers. "It's karaoke night here. You know what that means, right?"
Barry rolled his eyes at Cisco's question. "I should have seen this coming..." he muttered under his breath, and his two meta-human best friends laughed at that briefly. "Oh, come on, Barry! We haven't heard you singing in years!" Caitlin said as she nudged his shoulder playfully, trying to spur him into doing it, however he just rolled his eyes again before saying, to the surprise of his friends "I haven't sang in front of an audience in years."
"Please tell me that's just your alter ego making a bad joke!?" Cisco said in disbelief, before being smacked roughly on the shoulder by Caitlin. "Hey! What was that for!?" he asked as he rubbed his shoulder, before Caitlin indicated to Barry with her head and a look that said 'Really Cisco?', and Cisco saw that Barry was looking down at his drink bitterly, swirling it around a bit aimlessly.
Cisco then realized his mistake and immediately felt bad: Killer Frost's numerous appearances were not something Barry enjoyed speaking about, and still brought up bad memories with him too...and it was clear that Cisco's words had hurt him a lot! "Barry...hey look, I'm sorry man. I shouldn't have said that." Barry simply looked up a bit and smiled a small sad smile. "It's fine...And, I wasn't lying. Only Joe, Iris and Wally have heard me sing since the prom...and even then only when they had to beg me to sing..."
Caitlin felt saddened by that more so than Cisco had for bringing the subject up unintentionally, because she figured out quickly why he stopped singing outside of his foster family begging him to...because she was the reason. She slowly moved her hand to Barry's and placed it on his, which Barry immediately responded to when his fingers and hand enclosed fully around hers, and he pulled it up to his face before kissing the back of her hand.
"Don't be sad, Cait. Please?" she smiled a bit at that, a small smile, before leaning towards him and kissing him on the lips. Barry smiled a bit before soon saying as he picked up his drink "Tell you two what: we have a few drinks first, THEN I'll go up...providing Caitlin comes with me." Caitlin nearly did a 180 at that, looking to Barry with a look of disbelief, but Barry simply smirked coyly and teasingly, giving her a certain look that made her heart melt and made her fall into his hands, metaphorically in this case.
"Oh, okay." she relented as she picked her drink up, Cisco doing the same with one of his drinks before they all clanged their drinks together as Cait said "Here's to liquid courage."
A few more rounds of drinks, cheerful conversations, catching up on things that Barry still hadn't yet or that even Caitlin wasn't aware of due to her job as The Flash, and even laughter the likes the trio hadn't done as a trio on their own in a long time: and now Barry and Caitlin were looking on with amusement as they watched Cisco attempting to sing on the stage, completely drunk might I add.
Now, Barry and Caitlin knew that Cisco was not by any means a bad singer when he was sober, just as Caitlin was, in Barry's and Cisco's opinions, could sing really beautifully whenever she wasn't drunk either...but that let's just say that hearing Cisco singing drunk was one of the funniest things they'd heard, and that was a tough list to crack for them.
Barry soon gave a knowing smirk to his speedster girlfriend, one that she responded with one of her own, as both knew that Cisco was in no way able to get himself back home without help. "Looks like we'll be walking him back tonight. Or hailing a cab for him." Barry chuckled as he inclined his head towards Cisco as he paid for their tab for the whole evening, something Barry insisting on despite Caitlin offering to and the fact that the night out was Cisco's idea.
"Perhaps. But...but I think he'll still be aware if you don't go on the stage." Cait pointed out, laughing a bit when she saw her boyfriend roll his eyes at that comment. Soon Cisco had finished and staggered over towards the bar, much to the amusement of his two friends and some of the people in the bar. Fortunately, Barry and Caitlin had gotten Cisco one last drink before the duo had closed the trios bar tab, and they were looking at their friend with an amused smirk.
Cisco began speaking in, what could only be described as, the language of the drunk as he had his drink, and Barry smirked a bit before Caitlin went to sort out the song that they were going to sing to. She knew for a fact that Barry would be surprised by her choice, but even so she wasn't half nervous about how he might respond.
As she sorted out the song that she and Barry were going to sing, one that she knew he liked and years ago had been surprised by the fact she liked this song in particular too, and she made her way to the stage: she noticed how cheerful Barry seemed to be this evening, even despite having to deal with a drunken Cisco. He was calmer, more cheerful, and more at peace than he had been in a long time. Granted, she didn't know that their relationship was a major key to that, but she did know that this entire evening had brought out a side of Barry that had been locked away since the three of them were students.
He didn't have to worry about work, he hadn't been worrying about their recent meta-human case tonight, and not once had he worried or even spoken about Savitar, or Killer Frost as Cisco still knew him as, taken over at any given time. Barry was just Barry. She soon got one of the two microphones and shouted out "Barry Allen! Come on down, or up!"
Barry had immediately turned his head towards the stage upon hearing Caitlin calling his name out, and he mentally rolled his eyes in amusement as she spoke. He soon began running up as Caitlin got the crowd to chant his name, and he took the other microphone before smiling towards Caitlin whilst giving a look that asked 'What have chosen?'
Caitlin remained tight lipped on that, but still smirked as the music began...and the look of surprise and awe on Barry's face lightened up her evening even more. The song in particular was "Summer Lovin'", which Cisco would no doubt find cheesy whenever he sobers up, but the song in their opinion seemed to resonate within them in a positive way. Caitlin, feeling adventurous, lead the way.
"Summer loving had me a blast, Summer loving happened so fast." she began, her voice sounding angelic and, in Barry's opinion, divine like an angel. Cheesy I know, but that's how he felt, and he'd argue without a moments hesitation if somebody argued against it. "I met a girl crazy for me." Barry continued, looking directly into Caitlin's eyes as he sang that line, and his voice was the same as it had been years prior, and Caitlin was happy that out of all the things that may have changed with Barry in the years: his singing and his singing voice wasn't one of the things that changed.
"Met a boy cute as can be!" Caitlin sang, and just like Barry had: Caitlin looked directly at Barry and into his eyes as she sang that line, before both sang at the same time as the music continued, neither fully needing to look at the words since they both knew the song well enough by heart. "Summer days drifting away to oh oh the summer nights."
When the song had finished, they had gotten a massive pop and reaction from the crowd, no doubt their singing had been the best in the evening from the bar that night, even if neither of the two would admit it out of embarrassment. Cisco teased them in his drunken way upon them returning to the bar to collect him. "Sooo, you're fast AND you can sing!? What can't you do?"
"Stop you from drinking, apparently." the duo responded in sync as their friend tried to down the remaining contents of his drink down, both laughing a bit when they noticed how in sync they were that time. Though admittedly Barry couldn't figure out why Cisco had said they were both fast considering Cait was the speedster of the two.
"Come on, we'd best get you home!" Barry soon said as he moved Cisco's arms around his shoulders and walked their drunken friend out of the bar, since Barry had already paid for the tab before Cait had called him up to the stage. Caitlin rolled her eyes amused as she took Cisco's other arm around her shoulders and helped Barry carry Cisco out as well. Had she not been wearing high heels right now, the speedster would have considered using her speed to get Cisco back to his place and then rejoin her boyfriend.
Barry soon gave her a knowing look and she understood immediately what he was planning and simply nodded. They soon called a cab and helped Cisco into it, and they gave instructions on where to go to the cab driver, who was rather sympathetic to their predicament. They soon arrived at Cisco's place and, after paying the cab driver and thanking him, Barry and Cait walked Cisco to his place and Barry put him to bed whilst Caitlin got him some water and medication for the no doubt massive hangover their meta-human friend would have in the morning.
Afterwards, they left his place and walked hand-in-hand back to the speedsters apartment, laughing and joking about everything and anything under the moonlight sky. They even messed around a bit when they got closer to her place when they tried to run to her place like children placing chase, though Cait didn't use her speed at all and Barry was able to catch up to her, in no small part due to her heels.
They soon reached the apartment and smiled at each other before Barry began to speak with a teasing smile, even if the meaning behind it was only for joking purposes. "Sooo...I guess this is were I say "See you tomorrow"?", however Caitlin just smiled sweetly and kissed him on the lips with a chaste kiss before responding nervously "You could always stay the night. If you want, that is. We don't have to do anything other than sleep. God do I sound like Felicity right now?"
Now it was Barry who smiled amusingly at her and silenced her with a quick kiss of his own. "No, you do not. And I'd like that Cait." The speedster smiled at that, trying to restrain the giddy school-girl side of her that was present, before Barry held his hand out in front of her, which she instantly.
They walked into the apartment and Caitlin opened the door to let them both in, she soon went into the bathroom as she went to change. Barry sent Joe a text to say that he was staying at a friends house, though he suspected that Joe was either working late at CCPD, driving back home, or at home. He wasn't too worried on if his foster father did respond right away, no doubt they'd talk at S.T.A.R. Labs at some point.
Barry was just about to put his phone in his pocket when he felt a gust of wind spin him around rather quickly briefly, which he quickly surmised as Caitlin using her speed powers, before stopping and showing Barry dressed in, what could only be guessed, as spare pajamas, whilst she herself was in some herself. Barry raised his eyebrow to that a bit, before Caitlin giggled a bit and responded "Before you ask, consider this: I wouldn't be much of a hero if I did."
It wasn't hard to guess what she had thought he would ask or insinuate, but he rolled his eyes in amusement regardless and kissed her on the lips briefly before saying teasingly "There you go again: saving me from those "evil" clothes." He began to move towards the sofa-like chair in the room, before Caitlin gently grabbed onto the arm close enough for her to grab and asked "Where do you think you're going?"
Confused, Barry pointed wordlessly to the chair, which brought a coy smirk on his speedster girlfriends face before she shock her head and pulled him away from the chair. "Oh no! Come on, Barry, we're both adults. I think we can share a bed without anything happening, can't we?" she teased, almost daring him to argue back at that...though the baffled and surprised look that he gave as a response instead was far more humorous instead! He was such a gentleman, if a bit cautious.
Caitlin soon pulled open the bed covers and got into bed first; getting herself comfy in the bed before turning on her side to look at Barry before patting the empty space of the bed that was now in front of her. Barry rolled his eyes amusingly at this almost child-like, if not rather cute and romantic, display from Cait, but he soon entered the bed without a complaint and made himself as comfortable as possible as the cover was pulled over the two meta's.
Caitlin readjusted herself in the bed once Barry was comfortably laying down with his back against the mattress, soon laying her head on his chest where his beating heart was, and so she could snuggle into him more and either rest or wrap her arms as best as she could around him or on him in anyway possible. Barry responded as such by wrapping his arm closest to her around her waist in order to cuddle her and comfort her whilst they slept, a feat that was not at all unappreciated by the speedster.
"Thank you for tonight, Barry." she managed to mumble sleepily as she began to feel her eyelids grow heavy, and herself about to fall into the realm of sleep. Barry smiled his usual Barry Allen smile as he kissed the top of her hair and whispered to her "Anytime." "Goodnight, Barry. I love you." Cait said sleepily, but with a happy smile on her face; to which he responded "Goodnight Cait, I love you too." before they both began to fall into a state of pleasant sleeping at the same time: neither one of them uncomfortable with how close to where, and both were very pleased and smiling at how well the evening had been.
The following day: both Caitlin and Barry were waiting by the lift with cups of coffee in their hands, waiting with smirks on their face for their drunken friend Cisco to arrive, as he was late today as they knew he would be, and they knew well what the reason was for that. He soon arrived wearing sun glasses, and holding a big bottle of water, much to the amusement of Barry and Caitlin.
"Hi!" they both said at the same time in sync, and Cisco immediately looked over saying in a hushed and pained voice "So loud!" To say that the couple weren't amused by the clearly hungover Cisco would have been a lie, as they moved over to him and walked with him before Caitlin spoke "We just wanted to make sure that you were okay." "Let's just say that I now envy both of you for your inability to get drunk. I don't remember much from last night..." Cisco responded as they walked towards the Cortex.
"Yeah, that's probably for the best!" Barry responded with a cheeky smirk, before both Caitlin and Barry smirked evilly as they sang in sync briefly "Summer loving..." before Cisco groaned in annoyance "Oh god, that I do remember!" before both of his friends laughed a bit at Cisco's drunken misfortune.
After that they spent most of their time working to find and capture Shawna Baez and Clay Parker, and they managed to get promising leads. Eventually they did manage to capture Shawna by using her one weakness against her: turning off all lights in the area that they cornered her in so she couldn't see where to transport to, as Wells had figured out that she could only teleport providing she could see where she was going to. It proved effective, and both Caitlin and Cisco managed to capture her, however Clay Parker had managed to get away without a backwards look for Shawna.
Even though Shawna was a criminal, Barry and Caitlin couldn't help but feel sorry for Shawna after she was locked up in the Pipeline, as she had admitted that even now she still loved Parker despite how crazy it sounded and how heart-broken she sounded. Both meta's knew how their new captive meta felt, in some way shape or form from their personal history.
"Crazy is right." Caitlin said as the two walked out of the Pipeline together, which Barry responded with "Some people are worth being crazy for. Like us." Caitlin looked to Barry surprised a bit, but saw his serious smirk and she smiled a bit. "I'm...sorry if the other night was awkward, staying over at my place I mean." she said, referring to the two sleeping together, but Barry was quick to wave off her concerns.
"Why are you sorry? As you said: "we're adults", and we are also dating, so it shouldn't be awkward...plus, I actually liked spending time with you." he clarified, winking cheekily, causing a blush to appear on Caitlin's head before she planted a chaste kiss on his lips, one he responded to. When they did part, Caitlin whispered to Barry in his ear "You're welcome around my place anytime." before pulling away and Barry blushed this time and they walked away, neither seeing the smile that Cisco had on his face at his two friends...or aware of the trying time that were to come, times that they would face together.
Author's Side-Note: I know this didn't have any fighting scenes between The Flash against Shawna Baez and Clay Parker, but the reason for that was because I wanted to focus more on Barry and Caitlin's closeness and relationship for this chapter than anything. I hope that my next chapter will make up for the lack of action, if you don't like this one, but I'm hoping you do enjoy this one and liked my own version of 1x12. Anyway, I hope you have a nice day, and I will see you in the next chapter!
