8.1 Feelings Come and Go, A Heart's Song Part 1 (Alastor x Allison)
It's been two months since Alastor rescued Allison from Flask and his Loan Shark. Since then, they've been secretly exchanging letters which were delivered on both sides via Alastor's shadow. The first time she received a letter was when she was working on a commission for a customer. Just when she was sewing in the last part of the embroidery, a shadow in a familiar shape appeared in front of her and scaring the daylights out of her and prompting Rosie to barge in with her umbrella but when the overlord saw what scared her dewdrop, she reprimanded Alastor's shadow like a disappointed and angry mother and shadow felt ashamed and apologized to Allison in his own way and both of them forgave him. She got the letter from the shadow after that and it was in a poem which was very sweet and romantic that it just made smile. She wrote a response to his poem and gave it to the shadow who disappeared.
The next day, she received another letter and she wrote a response. This went again everyday where it became a routine. Sometimes the letters were accompanied with gifts such as a bouquet of roses that aren't surprisingly withered, a new set of sewing kit which she loved immediately, even a new dress. She responded to those gifts with one of her own. A very simple yet beautifully handmade scarf in a red color with a black stag head embroidery and when they meet up during one of her errands, he seems to always wear it. Sometimes, Alastor would accompany her on her errands outside of Cannibal Town while making sure that no one tries anything like those loan sharks that kidnapped and harmed her.
Alastor just couldn't understand it. He was known as a feared overlord by all and yet the blue demoness that he met since day one in that fabric store has been haunting his mind lately. Tried as he might, he can't help but be drawn to her. Her beauty was nothing compared to the female sinners and overlords he knows. She doesn't fear him when they first meet, even forgave him when he explained to her about who he is. He couldn't help but try and solve her like a puzzle but she's such an enigma that nothing seems to piece themselves together. But what he does know is that she's secretive. He got that impression due to her shy and timid nature and how innocent her aura is despite what she went through two months ago. Deciding to get to know her better, he wrote her a poem and sent his shadow double to Rosie's emporium. He got a response a bit later since his shadow was scolded like a child by Rosie but he couldn't help but read the contents of the letter that she sent back.
This became his routine. After or during his work and breaks everyday, he always sent letters to her and got responses in return which delighted him. There was one time when he came back from the garden with a bouquet of roses that Husk had asked him and what got him in such a good mood. Alastor told him that it was none of his business and just exchanged letters with a friend but Husk knows better. The rose bouquet signifies another thing. Alastor sent the bouquet with the letter to his special friend. He sent her gifts or should he say courting gifts such as a new sewing kit since he found out she likes to tailor even a new dress made out of the finest of silk. There was one thing that surprised him and that was when she sent a response to one of his letters with a package neatly sealed in the box and when he opened it, he was surprised to see a very well made scarf with the head of a stag on it.
Niffty asked him about it when he started to wear it around, he told her that it was a gift that he received. Niffty is a chaotic little gremlin yet sweet to those close to her. Alastor couldn't help but wonder what her life was like but he couldn't ponder on it now, he's going stir crazy with these unknown and unfamiliar feelings that have been brewing inside him for days for the past two months now and he thought that he was going crazy but the feelings were making him feel all warm and fuzzy inside. He gotta ask what these feelings he has developed after getting to know Miss Allison. He knows he can't ask Husk. The gambler-now-bartender would surely laugh at him for this and he wasn't sure about asking Niffty about his dilemma. So the only person he can ask is Rosie.
Getting up from his seat of his office in his radio tower, he sank into the shadows and reappeared just at the outskirts of Cannibal Town. He walked through the streets and Cannibals greeted him kindly with smiles and he just returned the sentiments with his own. He stood outside the emporium before opening the door. He could see a lot of cannibals inside and buy what appeared to be new clothes which were well made.
"Oh my stars. Alastor, is that you?" The voice of Rosie called in excitement and he smiled widely. As if his smile couldn't get any bigger.
"Greetings, Rosie! It is so good to see you again." Alastor greeted kindly as Rosie approached with a friendly smile.
"Ah, such a sight for sore eyes you are, my friend! What brings you to the Emporium?" Rosie asked him.
"Ah, yes. I've come to you for some advice. For your ears only, my dear friend." Alastor said as Rosie raised an eyebrow with an intrigued glint in her eyes.
"Oh? Come, come. We'll talk in the back." Rosie said before the two of them went to the backroom of the Emporium.
"Now, what seems to be the issue, dear?" Rosie asked as the two sat across from each other.
"I've come to you for some... romantic advice as one would say." Alastor said though he hesitated when he mentioned romance.
Rosie looked at him in surprise. Alastor? The famous and feared Radio Demon came to her for some love advice? Well, that's a surprise and she couldn't help but take a closer look at his face and almost smiled giddily. Despite how hard he tried, she could clearly see that he was smitten and she already has an idea on who had smitten the feared Radio Demon to where he seeks her out for some advice.
"Oh? What type of romantic advice would it be, dear?" Rosie questioned him curiously and she had to hide her knowing smile while sipping some blood tea when she saw his face obtain a shade of red. Yup, he is definitely smitten with the person she knows. So who was she to deny him with some friendly advice?
Alastor fidgeted slightly in his seat while trying to find the right words. How does he ask about seeking to court someone that he's only known for two months?
"I'm looking for advice on how to ask someone on a date as one would say but I can't seem to find the right moment or time to ask her to go out tonight with me." Alastor said and saw the look in Rosie's eyes as she was smiling knowingly at him.
"Alastor, dear, I know what this is about and I'll be happy to tell you." Rosie said kindly as Alastor felt a bit of relief.
"But..." Rosie said as her cheerful personality disappeared and gave him a look that he'd only seen with his own mother when he was still alive and it made him freeze like a deer in headlights.
"If you do anything to hurt or break her heart, just know that you'll be in big trouble, mister." Rosie warned him and Alastor nodded quickly, not wanting to ire Rosie more.
The next set of moments is where Alastor and Rosie talk with Rosie giving Alastor tips on how to woo Allison even though Alastor never mentioned a name but she had a good guess who Alastor was talking about. Around afternoon, Alastor was sure he was ready and bid Rosie goodbye before returning to his radio tower and got to work on making a letter that's a poem and hope he gets a response.
Though it was proven harder than he thought. There were so many things he wanted to say that he couldn't figure out which ones to use. So he wrote, rewrote, rewrote again and again until there was a pile of discarded paper in his trash. He'll probably get Niffty to clean and burn those but he rather not have her asking questions with what were the contents of those papers. So after doing one last rewrite of the poem he wanted to use, he summoned his shadow double to send the letter to Miss Allison after adding a singular red rose to it before his shadow went off to do the task and all he can do now is wait.
Allison returned after doing some errands for the emporium. Rosie seemed particularly cheerful today and when she asked, the cannibal overlord just told her that something interesting happened today while she was out and there's something waiting in her room. Her ears twitched as he went to her room and found a letter on the bed and a rose attached to it.
Picking it up, she immediately knew it was from Alastor. She doesn't know why but she felt nervous for some reason and the answer to her question would be in the letter. She took the letter from the envelope and saw that it was a poem but what was in it made her flush heavily as she started to read the contents of it.
"From the moment we've met
It feels like we connect
A pure rose surrounded by a thorn
Unknown to me, yet I mourn
Stars above the night
Nothing could hear thy plight
As blue as the ocean's wave
Nothing can replace your gaze
Your eyes shine like a pair of diamond
Rough yet softened
A smile as bright as the sun's ray
You made my day
Not a day goes by
When I think of your smile
I ask of you this, my dear sweet darling
So you and I, can enjoy our first meeting
-Cannibal District Cafe
7 pm, Mon Chére
Sincerely Alastor-"
She finished reading and it didn't take a genius that Alastor was practically asking her out and it was making her heart go crazy and do flips.
"Miss Rosie!" She shouted as she ran out of her room, letter in hand.
Rosie was enjoying some blood tea when she heard the shout. She looks over to see Allison running out of her room with her eyes wide and a piece of letter in hand.
"Oh my, what's the problem, dewdrop?" Rosie asked as Allison came to her.
Rosie took notice at how flushed she was as she was handed the letter. Curious, she started to read it and her eyes widened slowly as she realized why Alastor came earlier. He was gonna ask Allison out on a date!
'Oh my stars. He's really gonna ask her out!' Rosie mentally squeals but withholds it after seeing the nervous and anxious expression on her pseudo daughter's face.
"Oh, sweetie, why the nervous face? You should feel excited and happy that he's asking you out." She said warmly.
"I-It's not that, Miss Rosie. It's... It's just..." Allison muttered timidly before mumbling something not above a whisper.
"What was that, dear?" Rosie asked her curiously.
"I-I said this is my first and... I don't know what to wear." She admitted with a hint of a blush on her pale cheeks and Rosie just finds it adorable.
"Don't worry, darling, I know just how to help." Rosie smiled and led her out the door. They went to a boutique where a cannibal named Royalty Boutique.
"Royalty Boutique?" She asked in confusion as Rosie opened the door.
"There's a friend of mine that can bring out that beauty of yours further with the right dress." Rosie said as both of them entered and inside were rows upon rows of racks with very fabulous dresses made for special occasions. There were also fabrics and sewing materials.
They went to the counter and Rosie rang the small bell.
"Coming~🎵" A voice sang and out came a butterfly sinner with colorful wings varying in light green, pink and purple, has purple hair, bluebelle colored eyes, alabaster white skin and dark purple hair.
"Oh my roses! Rosie, it's been a while. How have you been?" The sinner greeted in delight.
"Oh I've been well, Rachel. I've come to you for assistance for someone." Rosie said as she stepped to the side to let her friend, Rachel, see Allison who waved shyly.
"This is my little helper and someone I took under my wing. Allison, meet Rachel. The talented seamstress on the edge of Cannibal Town and Rachel, meet this sweet little dewdrop with a golden heart, Allison." Rosie introduced them.
"H-Hello, Miss Rachel." Allison greeted shyly.
"Oh my, she's quite shy, Rosie. Makes her very adorable!" Rachel gushed as she punched Allison's cheek and made the blue doe to flushed lightly in embarrassment.
"Yes, she is, which makes her a delight to be friends with. Now onto business, we're here so she can get ready for the night." Rosie said and Rachel immediately knew what she meant.
"Ooh! Someone's got a date tonight? Say no more! I'll help bring out the beauty within you with the right dress!" Rachel guides them to the changing rooms.
Rachel brought out a rack of dresses as Allison looked at them curiously.
"If you want to get ready, you need to look fabulous!" Rachel said as she gave her dress while starting to sing.
Rachel: 🎵Salagadoola menchicka boola🎵
🎵Bibbidi-bobbidi-boo🎵
The first dress was a bit too princess-like and Allison was given another.
🎵Put 'em together and what have you got?🎵
🎵Bibbidi-bobbidi-boo🎵
The second one was a bit much due to the frills on the length of the dress.
🎵Salagadoola menchicka boola🎵
🎵Bibbidi-bobbidi-boo🎵
The third and fourth were a no no with Rosie trying not to smile in amusement as Allison tried on what looked like a ballerina themed gowns and one hugged her figure too well. She couldn't help but feel worried since this might take longer but she doesn't want her little dewdrop to be late for her big night.
🎵It'll do magic, believe it or not🎵
🎵Bibbidi-bobbidi-boo🎵
The next one was a kimono with floral patterns but it's not the one Allison was looking for.
🎵Now salagadoola means menchicka boolaroo
🎵But the thingamabob that does the job is🎵
🎵Bibbidi-bobbidi-boo🎵
Rachel was having a hard time with Allison since she doesn't know which dress fits her. Allison was sitting on a chair after trying the tenth dress only for a dark maroon, pastel red and white fabric to catch her attention.
She suddenly had an idea and asked Rachel if she could do something. Rachel was curious but agreed and Allison immediately got to work and started to make the dress that fits her.
🎵Salagadoola menchicka boola🎵
🎵Bibbidi-bobbidi-boo🎵
🎵Put 'em together and what have you got🎵
Rosie and Rachel watched in amazement and surprise as she was quickly making the dress. She showed it to them and Rachel excitedly gestured for her to put it on and try it. Allison got into the changing room and immediately changed into her new dress.
🎵Bibbidi-bobbidi🎵
🎵Bibbidi-bobbidi🎵
🎵Bibbidi-bobbidi-boo🎵
She pushed the curtains aside and Rosie clapped in amazement while Rachel practically swooned at the sight.
"Oh my stars, dewdrop! You look absolutely fantastic!" Rosie gushed.
Allison blushed shyly as she smooths down her new dress with the skirt. The dress looked similar to her suit but was a lot different. The skirt was a pastel red color, the vest was a dark maroon color and the long sleeved shirt that was a bit puffy at the shoulders was white. All in all, it was a perfect dress for her date but Rosie couldn't help but feel like something was missing.
"Hmm, there's something missing." Rosie stated and Rachel recovered from her swooning.
"I know just the one." Rachel went through the accessories box and took out a rose clip and a hair brush.
"Let's put in the final touches." She said.
She led Allison to the vanity where the blue doe sat down and Rachel started to brush her hair, removing the tangles and knots along the way. After her hair was groomed, Rachel clipped some of her hair at the back in a simple style and clipped the rose hair clip on her.
Rosie decided to join in and started to add light makeup on Allison. Just a bit of eyeshadow and lipgloss. Allison looked at herself in the mirror and was surprised at the results.
"Now you're ready, my dear." Rosie said excitedly and Allison smiled softly and nodded.
That night, Alastor waited outside of the cafe in Cannibal Town as he looked at the slowly darkening sky. He wasn't wearing his usual coat which was a surprise but still has his staff as he had his hands behind his back. He couldn't help but feel nervous for some reason and it just made his ears twitch slightly in agitation and anxiousness. He just hopes he doesn't mess this up. He plans to confess to her tonight but he wants it to be perfect.
"Alastor?" The voice of the one he's waiting for has arrived.
"Ah, Miss Allison, right on-" Alastor started as he turned to her only to freeze as his ears stood rigged at the sight with the sound of a record stopping can be heard with light static as the words died down in his throat.
He couldn't help but drink in the sight of his date's dress in a simple yet stunning outfit. He couldn't help but feel his face heat up as Allison tilted her head. The eyeshadow contrasted against the color of her eyes and her lips looked like it was painted. She was a beauty to behold alright.
"Um, am I right on time?" She asked nervously and Alastor snapped out of his slight shock, regaining his composure and smiled widely at her.
"You look absolutely stunning, ma chére." Alastor gently took her hand in his and kissed the knuckles, receiving a cute blush in return.
"Shall we, ma chére?" He offered his arm to her and she smiled and looped her arm around his as they entered the cafe.
They were given a table reserved thanks to Alastor. Being a gentleman, he pulled the chair back for his date and she sat down first as he pushed the chair before sitting on the chair across from her.
"I'm curious, ma chére, where did you get such a stunning dress?" Alastor asks in curiosity after they give their order.
"Oh, Miss Rosie took me to a boutique called Royalty Boutique where a friend of hers, Rachel, helped me with the outfits but... none fit me until I found the right fabrics to make a new one and... Rosie helped with my makeup." Allison said as she played with a lock of her hair.
"Ah, Rosie, how is she, ma chére?" Alastor asked her.
"She's doing quite well, Alastor." She smiled sweetly at him to which he returned with his own.
Allison finally took the time to look at Alastor and to say the least, it brought a blush on her face as her face heats up. She didn't think it was possible for him to look even more handsome. Without his usual pinstripe coat, he looks more casual yet formal. His hair was well-groomed as it was shining a strawberry red color and the way his eyes stared at her earlier made her face heat up more.
"It’s a bit hot in here don’t you think? It feels like we're in an oven." Allison laughed nervously while fanning herself a little, making Alastor to grin in amusement.
"Perhaps some drinks might help you get refreshed a tiny bit." Alastor suggested before he snaps his fingers.
"Waiter." Alastor called before a waiter, a lizard sinner, came up to them in a waiter outfit.
"Yes, sir?" He asked.
"Two of your best drinks, please?" He ordered and the waiter bowed his head.
"Of course, sir, right away." The waiter left to fetch the drink. Allison couldn't help but feel flattered by that.
"Oh, that wasn’t necessary, Alastor, I could’ve settled for some cold water." Allison told him but Alastor waved her with a kind expression. He wants this date to be perfect so only the best for himself and his date.
"Nonsense, ma chére. Nothing cools you down like a fresh drink, and please call me Al, there isn’t that much need for us to be formal toward one another." Alastor told her as he watched her ears twitch a little in embarrassment. How can someone like her be so innocent ends up in Hell of all places?
The waiter came back with a tray and a bottle of what looks like wine and wine glasses.
"Here you have, two Crimson Hell Burning drinks. Enjoy." The waiter said as he poured the drinks into the glasses as Allison looked at it in awe and curiosity. She's never seen or tried alcohol before because she's not allowed to drink anything alcoholic due to her physical appearance.
"Wow… that looks, way too refreshing… and... red." Allison admitted as the waiter left them the bottle and went to serve another customer. Alastor took his glass and handed Allison hers, who held it in her hand.
"We should give it a try, I doubt it’s as bad as it looks." Alastor told her before taking the first sip and felt his ears perked up at the taste. It's surprisingly good. He's not much of a drinker but he appreciates it when a drink is very good for the quality and taste.
"This has to be the best drink I ever had in my entire life." Alastor said as he looked at Allison to see how she liked it.
Curious, Allison gave it a try as she took a small sip. Since she wasn’t used to drinking alcohol or wine when she was in heaven and when she took her first sip, the taste of it was both sweet and strong. So strong that it made her cough a little.
"It’s-It’s good. Just a bit strong is all." She coughed a little as she set her glass down and used the tissue on the table to cover her mouth as her coughing calmed down.
"Are you okay, ma chére?" Alastor asked in concern. Allison gave him a reassuring smile.
"I’m fine, I’m just… not used to drinking that kind of beverage. Call me a first timer in the alcohol department." She admitted and it made Alastor chuckled with a slight laughter soundtrack which her ears perked up a little.
"Well it seems that tonight is a first for both of us. Our first date, and your first time having alcohol." Alastor said as he set his glass down before he looked at her.
"Yeah." She nodded shyly as she played with her sleeves.
"I hope you don’t mind me asking but, how did a fine lady like yourself end up in a dreadful place?" Alastor asked curiously and Allison almost gulped at that.
She looked at Alastor who was looking at her, expecting an answer as his ear twitched a little but she could see there was genuine curiosity in his eyes. She may need to spin the tale of her origins a little. She doesn't know if he'll like it if she reveals to him where she really came from.
"Oh that… it’s rather… a long story. I was in a certain place at a very wrong time, bad people... caught me… they hurt me… badly… and that is how I ended up here." Allison said as she looked down at her sleeves.
Alastor has to try and reign in his anger so as to not ruin their date. He could practically feel his anger and blood boiling from what he heard. Who dares to harm his blue doe?! Plans to mutilate, murder and consume the ones who hurt his little doe flash through his mind that static can be heard slightly from his brooding but looking at Allison, how her ears were down and was looking at her sleeves, made his anger die down a notch to where the static stopped. He won't push her to reveal much about her past since she doesn't seem to want to talk about it.
"It sounds like it… not something you like talking about much is it?" Alastor asked her while resting his hand on the table as she nodded.
"It’s not. Sometimes I feel like… I messed up… I wanna try and fix things but unfortunately, I’m stuck here. With no way back." She said as Alastor tilted his head a little with a smile.
"It’s not that bad in my opinion. If it were, we would not have met." He said as Allison looked at him in surprise. That was...
"Wow… t-that’s…" She stuttered only to play with a strand of her hair, feeling her face heat up. That was true.
"That’s really sweet of you, Alastor, I mean, Al." She smiled shyly as Alastor chuckled softly.
"My pleasure." He said. Now that she told Alastor half the truth of her past, she's curious about what he was like before he came to Hell.
"So, now that you know most things about me. What about you? What makes you tick? Uh, sorry that was wrong." Allison asked curiously but cringed at the last part but Alastor didn't mind. It just made him laugh slightly. She's an interesting gal.
"It’s alright, ma chére. There isn’t much to tell about little old me, except for the fact that back when I was alive I had my own radio show." He said. That made Allison look at him in curiosity.
"Really?" She asked. So that would explain the radio effect in his voice.
Alastor sighed a bit dramatically with melancholy music playing from his staff to add effects.
"Yes, but unfortunately that didn’t last due to my unfortunate demise. As I got here, I started going from one place to another, doing business, meeting lots of people, bad people, strange people, crazy people, all kinds of people in hell. I had to go away for a long while to take care of some personal business." Alastor told her before looking her in the eyes
"And after all this time I can only say that it’s good to be back, and for the first time, I get to meet a new face that is not only beautiful, but totally different from what I’ve seen in my whole life." He said which made Allison blushed lightly at the fact that he called her beautiful.
"And what kind of business did you do while you were away?" She asked curiously and Alastor felt his smile straining a little. He really doesn't want to reveal that he was a serial killer when he was alive but he could indulge her.
"Let’s just say that… it got quite bumpy. Believe it or not, sometimes my business isn't that good. And not many people like what I do." Alastor admitted as he looked to the side, missing the understanding and sympathetic look in Allison's eyes.
Allison feels like she and Alastor are both alike in certain ways. She looks at his hand that was resting on the table before resting her hand on top of his hand gently, which surprises Alastor as he looks back at her in surprise. He doesn't like being touched and only lets certain people touch him but with Allison, her hand holding his, she was warm and soft. His hand looked a bit bigger than hers which made him want to hold her hand and not let go. She gives a sense of comfort and understanding just by spending time with her.
"At least we have something in common. We’re both outcasts. Just like you, people didn't like me back in my old life." She said softly and Alastor's eyes softened as he held her hand in his and gave it a gentle squeeze.
"That’s… quite sad, yet it feels good… to know that you’re not alone." Alastor spoke softly and this time Allison heard his voice without the radio filter.
It made her heart flutter at hearing his actual voice which made her smile softly as she and Alastor stared at each other deeply into their eyes, getting lost in the moment. They realized that they've been staring at each other, Alastor released Allison's hand from his, feeling his face heat up as he turned the other way and Allison was looking down at her lap with a heavy blush on her face.
Alastor then cleared his throat as his voice returned to sounding like a radio.
"Right, ahem, how about a toast?" Alastor suggested and it made her smile.
"Sounds good." She agreed as both of them grabbed their drinks and raised their glasses up slightly.
"To new friends." Alastor said with a smile.
"To not be alone." Allison said before they both clink their drinks together before drinking it a little.
They both ordered something to eat and they had fun and shared stories of their time before they came to Hell. It was the most fun that Alastor has had before he died. He never realized what love was like until he met Allison. He definitely felt love when he was with his mother but that was a love a mother has for their child but with Allison, this type of love is on an entirely new level which made his heart ache in a good way and it made this fluttering feeling in his stomach. He thinks Rosie said something about a figure of speech that it was butterflies flying around his stomach.
They finished dinner and Alastor left a tip as thanks for the delightful dinner. He has plans to show Allison the rose garden which he knows that she would love. She has her arm looped around his as he took them to the garden.
Allison couldn't believe how the night was for her. She was nervous at first but getting to know Alastor more makes her feel more at ease in his presence that she leaned her head on his shoulder as they walked somewhere. She wished that this night would never end as Alastor took her somewhere. He then stopped and prompted her to stop as she looked at him curiously.
"Is there something wrong?" She asked in concern.
"Nothing to be concerned about, ma chére. I just need you to close your eyes until we get there." Alastor told her.
She raised an eyebrow at him with a curious smile which made him smile softly at her.
"It's a surprise." He simply said.
She looks at him a bit more before closing her eyes. He waved his hand in front of her face, satisfied that her eyes were closed. He then gently took her hands in his and led her into the rose garden. Once they're at a particular spot, he stood behind her.
"You can open your eyes now, ma chére." He whispered softly.
Allison blinks her eyes open before letting out a soft gasp escape her. She was seeing a lot of roses. Bushes filled with lots of roses, a small pond, a bridge and trees.
"Alastor, where... where are we?" She asked in wonder as she went to one of the bushes. She's never seen flowers like these in heaven or any flower at all and they're beautiful.
"The rose garden, ma chére. Just at the border of Cannibal Town. This isn't what I wanted to show you. Look up." He said as he looked up. She followed his gaze and her eyes sparkled in wonder and awe. The night sky was filled with stars, the sky has a purple hue to it, the Pentagram in the sky gives a soft red glow.
"It's... It's beautiful, Alastor." She smiled as she stared at the sky.
Feeling a hand on her hair, she looked at him as he put something on her hair. She put a hand on it to feel that it was a rose which made her smile shyly.
There was silence between them as Alastor looked down at her as she looked up at him. They both start leaning towards each other as Alastor pulls her closer as he tilts his head down towards her. Allison pressed her hands on his chest as she tilted her head slightly. Their lips just brushed against each other only for a voice within Allison's mind to speak up.
"We'll kill those you love and care for once we find you, Avvy!" Adam's voice cackled loudly which made her gasp loudly in fear as her eyes snapped open and pushed Alastor away from her on instinct.
Alastor looked confused and hurt by that as he saw that she looked scared for some reason.
"I-I'm sorry. I just... I need to go back to the emporium." Allison weakly said as she started to head back.
Alastor watched her. No, he can't let this night end too soon. He needs her to see that he has feelings for her. He manifested his staff and turned on the mic and started to sing as music started to play.
Alastor: 🎵You know I want you🎵
That made Allison stop in her tracks as she turned to him in confusion and sadness. He walked towards her.
🎵It's not a secret I try to hide🎵
🎵I know you want me🎵
🎵So don't keep sayin' our hands are tied
He made the staff disappear and the music continued as he pulled her into a dance.
🎵You claim it's not in the cards🎵
🎵And fate is pullin' you miles away🎵
🎵And out of reach from me🎵
He looked at her in the eyes and Allison could see emotions that she held within her shining in his eyes.
🎵But you're here in my heart🎵
🎵So who can stop me if I decide🎵
🎵That you're my destiny?🎵
He led her into a swing only to pull her back and led her to a dip before helping her back up on her feet.
🎵What if we rewrite the stars?🎵
🎵Say you were made to be mine🎵
🎵Nothing could keep us apart🎵
He held her close as he led the way into the dance as tears welled up in Allison's eyes but they didn't fall.
🎵You'd be the one I was meant to find🎵
🎵It's up to you, and it's up to me🎵
🎵No one can say what we get to be🎵
🎵So why don't we rewrite the stars?🎵
🎵Maybe the world could be ours🎵
🎵Tonight🎵
He dipped her down again before pulling her up again and Allison pulled away from him as she looked up at the sky as she started to sing and Alastor felt his ears perk up at her beautiful voice.
Allison: 🎵You think it's easy🎵
🎵You think I don't wanna run to you🎵
She looked at him sadly as she started to walk with him following her.
🎵But there are mountains🎵
🎵And there are doors that we can't walk through🎵
When he tried to hold her hand, she pulled away before growing a small mischievous smile as she started to run and prompted Alastor to chase her with an amused glint in his eyes.
🎵I know you're wondering why because we're able to be🎵
🎵Just you and me within these walls🎵
She hid behind a tree but Alastor found her easily.
🎵But when we go outside, you're gonna wake up and see🎵
🎵That it was hopeless after all🎵
He was able to catch her again as he led her into another dance again as she continued to sing.
🎵No one can rewrite the stars🎵
🎵How can you say you'll be mine?🎵
🎵Everything keeps us apart🎵
🎵And I'm not the one you were meant to find🎵
🎵It's not up to you🎵
🎵It's not up to me🎵
🎵When everyone tells us what we can be🎵
🎵How can we rewrite the stars?🎵
🎵Say that the world can be ours🎵
🎵Tonight🎵
Alastor summoned his staff and a shadow tentacle appeared beneath their feet and sent them into the air and Alastor summoned more to catch them and send them flying as their voices harmonized when they both started to sing together as they were enjoying the night.
Allison+Alastor: 🎵All I want is to fly with you🎵
🎵All I want is to fall with you🎵
🎵So just give me all of you🎵
Alastor landed on one shadow tentacle and Allison didn't hesitate to jump off the tentacle and Alastor was there to catch her.
Allison: 🎵It feels impossible🎵
Alastor: 🎵It's not impossible🎵
Allison: 🎵Is it impossible?🎵
Allison+Alastor: 🎵Say that it's possible🎵
Alastor holds her close as they free fall from the shadow tentacle.
🎵How do we rewrite the stars?🎵
🎵Say you were made to be mine?🎵
🎵Nothing can keep us apart🎵
🎵Cause you are the one I was meant to find🎵
They were caught as Alastor slowly sent them down as he offered his hand for Allison to take and she accepted as he led her into one more dance.
🎵It's up to you🎵
🎵And it's up to me🎵
🎵No one can say what we get to be🎵
🎵And why don't we rewrite the stars?🎵
🎵Changing the world to be ours🎵
Allison and Alastor looked at each other but Allison looked away, regret and sadness in her heart. She can't... She can't get close to anyone. Rosie is already in danger but Alastor would be in more danger if they found out. She slowly pulled away from Alastor as she sang sadly as her voice shook yet stayed steady.
Allison: 🎵You know I want you🎵
🎵It's not a secret I try to hide🎵
🎵But I can't have you🎵
🎵We're bound to break and my hands are tied🎵
She turned away from him and wanted to leave but Alastor didn't let her hand go.
"Don't go... Please..." Alastor pleaded softly but she choked back a sob.
"I-I'm sorry..." She pulled her hand back hesitantly and slowly.
She pulled her hand away fully from him and started to run back to the emporium and left Alastor standing there, watching her run until she disappeared from his sight. His hand fell to his side as he looked at it before sinking into the shadows and appeared in Husk's bar, making the cat sinner jump in surprise.
"Fucking Hell, Al! You almost gave me..." Husk hissed but stopped slowly after seeing Alastor. He doesn't have his usual coat yet his eyes and smile were filled with sadness.
Sighing softly, he poured him a drink as Alastor sat down and downed the whiskey immediately. Husk decided to leave the bottle with him and Alastor appreciated it and started to drink the contents of the bottle before resting his head on his arm.
"So what's got you down in the dumps, boss?" Husk asked as he wiped a glass clean with a rag.
"It was supposed to be a splendid night, yet..." Alastor slurred, the strong whiskey already kicking in.
Husk just raised an eyebrow at him, waiting for him to continue.
"Husker, how can you deal with this pain...?" Alastor suddenly asked which made the cat sinner to look at him in confusion and curiosity.
"What pain?" Husk asked.
"This pain..." Alastor lamented as he pointed at Husk's chest.
It didn't take a genius for Husk to connect the dots.
"Shit..." Husk cursed. He realized that Alastor must be feeling a heartbreak. He knew him when he formed a contract with him and Alastor writing letters to someone was new but seeing Alastor down and heartbroken made him feel bad.
"Uh, there, there." He awkwardly patted his back only for his hand to be swatted away.
"I never should have met her..." Alastor slurred drunkenly.
Husk wanted to ask who the 'her' was but soft snores came from the red overlord. The cat sinner found that his boss fell asleep with only a half consumed bottle of the strongest whiskey beside him. He better get Alastor to bed and leave painkillers and water by his bed.
In the emporium, Allison was in her room and was crying on the pillow. She ditched the vest before she collapsed on the bed, crying her eyes out. When she came back on the verge of crying, Rosie wanted to ask her how the date went but she just ran past her and went straight to her room to cry her eyes out but it's more of a heartache.
Outside the door, Rosie couldn't bear the sounds of sobs from her dewdrop. She opened the door and sat down on the bed before pulling Allison to her as the fallen seraphim sobbed on her chest. Rosie can only guess that the date went great but the fear of those that harmed her would go after the ones she loves. Rosie just hoped that Alastor and her dewdrop's second suitor understood that Allison only rejected them not to play and break their hearts but for their own protection. That she can't be in a relationship with them as much as she wants to.
The next day, Rosie gave Allison a week off to rest up after what happened and to try and heal but knowing what it was like, it will be a while before she heals.
Allison was in her room, looking out the balcony as the window blew against her hair. She couldn't help but think about what happened last night and wondered what would have happened if she didn't leave. She felt tears fall from her eyes as she started to sing softly and sadly.
Allison: 🎵I've always dreamed🎵
🎵That my life could be🎵
🎵Like a fairy-tale🎵
🎵A perfect fantasy🎵
She choked back a sob as she remembered the small moments she had with Alastor when they were eating dinner together.
🎵Every day a new adventure🎵
🎵On some undiscovered shore🎵
🎵Was it nothing more🎵
🎵Than a dream?🎵
She wiped her eyes but tears kept falling as she remembered the dance and singing they did at the rose garden.
🎵Then one magic night🎵
🎵With a single dance🎵
🎵I found more than just a storybook romance🎵
🎵And for once my life was perfect🎵
🎵As we glided 'cross the floor🎵
She closed her eyes as her tears dried up a little as her heart ached for Alastor. She wanted to apologize but he might hate her right now after last night.
🎵And it was so much more🎵
🎵So much more than a dream🎵
She finished singing as she covered her mouth and sobbed softly as a single rose by her dresser was left behind by a shadow.
Alastor opened his eyes after his shadow left the rose and after it came back. He felt the familiar sting of tears in his eyes as he closed his eyes to stifle his tears but a few escaped. What did he do wrong...? Can he make up for her?
