3: Settling in at Cannibal Town, A Surprise Party, Nightmare

The whole situation immediately escalated than how Rosie and Abigail would have wanted. During the first year of her stay, Abigail has been settling in with Rosie's help in her new environment and is always accompanied by a cannibal with errands and to say the least, Abigail was slowly getting used to life in Hell. Sure it was much more different with a lot of violence but she slowly but surely saw Cannibal town as a sanctuary and a second home.

Rosie became a mother to her quickly and the Cannibal Overlord even helped her with her broken wings with the help of a doctor but news about Rosie having a kid quickly spread and everyone adored her immediately. Her secret as a seraphim didn't come out as peaceful as she would have liked but Rosie made sure to have everyone keep it a secret from those outside of Cannibal Town. To avoid being found out by sinners who would surely do harm to Abigail if word got out that Rosie and her Cannibals are hiding a seraphim, Rosie suggested changing her name.

To say the least, Abigail was hesitant which Rosie understands and gave her time to think on which names she can pick and after a month in the beginning of her second year, she finally agreed to have her name change to Allison and Rosie couldn't help but giggle which confused the newly named Allison and Rosie told her that her name was close to a certain friend of hers who disappeared seven years ago. When Rosie found out that Allison's birthday was approaching, she had everyone planned for her first anniversary of being in Cannibal Town which is also her birthday. They had decorations set up, even a separate cake for Allison and the Cannibals. Allison's favorite flavor was apple with a bit of strawberry.

Rosie checked the clock and she told everyone to get to their places as she went up the stairs of her emporium to get Allison who was wearing a brand new dress which was a white color that ended with red at the hem and she was reading a book while eating some fresh cookies.

"Oh, Miss Rosie, is there anything you need help with?" Allison asked once she took notice of her caretaker and guardian at the door.

"Yes, Abigail. There is. Why don't you join me downstairs? There's something I wanna show you." Rosie said in a delighted tone. She only calls Abigail by her real name when they're alone and calls her Allison around others.

"What is it?" Allison asked as she stood up from the chair she was sitting on while closing the book.

"Oh you must close your eyes. I wouldn't want to spoil it." Rosie giggled as Allison tilted her head as her ear on her head twitched curiously but she did so and Rosie held her hand and led her downstairs.

"Watch your step, dewdrop." Rosie told her and Allison carefully stepped down with Rosie as her guide. Once they made it down the stairs, Rosie motioned everyone to be ready as the lights were turned off.

"Alrighty then, you can open your eyes now, sweetie." Rosie said in excitement.

The lights turned on just as she opened her eyes.

"SURPRISE!"

Allison jumped in surprise and disbelief but her eyes widened at what she was seeing. Decorations, balloons, streamers and a banner saying 'Happy Birthday, Our Little Angel' with food on the table. Tears started to well up in her eyes and everyone grew worried and Rosie was immediately in front of her and wiped her eyes away.

"O-Oh, dewdrop! Is everything okay? Did we do something wrong?" Rosie asked in concern and panic but was surprised to see a bright smile on Allison's face whilst tears were falling from her eyes.

"N-No, Miss Rosie. I-It's just..." Allison sniffed as she tried to wipe her tears away before smiling up to her caretaker.

"T-Thank you." She said tearfully yet joy was in her eyes.

Rosie smiled down at her and pulled her into a hug which Allison returned with a shuddering breath as she slowly calmed down.

The party began without a problem after and it was a big celebration throughout Cannibal Town. Allison enjoyed the party, especially the cake which she loved very much. The party was slowly coming to a close and everyone slowly but surely left to get some rest after the birthday party.

Allison was helping Rosie with the dishes as they waved goodbye to the last guest.

"How did you like the party, sweetie?" Rosie asked her as she washed the dishes with Allison drying them.

"It was very beautiful, Miss Rosie. T-Thank you again." Allison said softly and Rosie smiled at her.

"It was no problem, dear. Anything for my little dewdrop." Rosie pinched her cheek which caused Allison to giggle.

They bid each other good night and went to bed after that. But when it was midnight, Allison started to experience nightmares again. She tossed and turned while clawing her shoulder as if she could still feel what happened to her.

"No... Please... I won't tell anyone..." She cried softly in her sleep.

"You think you can get away from trying to tattle on Emily about what we do? Guess what, Avvy. You won't be seeing her or your sister again."

She cried out in fear and pain as if she was experiencing it all over again and tried to fight the hands that were reaching for her.

"No! Please! I promise!"

"Allison!"

She gasped loudly as she sat up on the bed but she was hyperventilating so bad that she was having a hard time breathing. She flinched violently when a hand rested on her shoulder and she looked at who the hand belonged to. Rosie was looking at her with worry and concern in her eyes and new tears started to fall from her eyes as she lunged for Rosie who held her in her arms as she sobbed softly in her arms.

Rosie shushed her gently while petting her hair. It was nights like this that worried her. Allison still hasn't told her how she was injured but it was clearly something that scared her precious dewdrop deeply.

"Allison, I know this is a very sensitive topic but you need to understand that you must tell me what's wrong." Rosie told her softly as Allison's sobs quietened into soft sniffs as she pulled away.

"I-I'm sorry if I'm such a bother..." She said sadly as Rosie wiped her tears away.

"We have plenty of time. Now, tell Auntie Rosie what's the matter." Rosie told her gently and Allison nodded. She can trust her with her secret now.

"It was... It was a year ago before I was... kicked out from heaven..."

Flashback starts;

"Sera told me to get some books for mine and Emily's lessons when I overheard Lute and Adam celebrating about something."

(In the flashback, a happy and carefree Abigail was hovering by a bookshelf and gathering some books when she heard voices. She looked from where she was and saw her friends Adam and Lute drinking sodas. Smiling, she flew down and was about to greet them when Adam said something.

"Oh man. Did we get her good or what?" Adam laughed as he drank from his soda.

"That traitor has no place here after sparing that sinner from extermination." Lute snorted which confused Abigail. Extermination? Traitor?)

"I didn't know who or what they were talking about but I noticed that one of them is missing. They were always accompanied by another but they were supposed to be three of them."

(Abigail was confused on what they were talking about but she covered her mouth to stop a gasp at what she heard next.

"Ha! Well, Vajjie deserved being in Hell with those other sinners. So next time, we're gonna go down there and destroy those so-called sinners." Adam laughed with Lute.

That made Abigail backed away from fear, shock and disgust. So all those times, every year when Adam and Lute with the others leave? It was to go down to Hell and kill the sinners who were once human souls?! She has to tell Emily and Sera about this.

"And where do you think you're going?" A voice asked her suddenly which made her freeze.

"Aww, Avvy! It's so good to see you, bitch! Why didn't you tell us you were here?" Adam asked as he and Lute looked at her but all Abigail could see was malice in both of their eyes.

"I-I was getting b-books." She trembled and an anguished keening cry escaped her throat when she was suddenly grabbed by the throat.

She stared in fear as Adam was the one holding her by the throat.

"I swear I didn't hear anything! Honest!" She lied as she tried to get Adam to let her go.

"Oh? That's weird. It felt pretty strange when I felt eyes on us earlier." He said maliciously.

"I bet that she heard everything. So why don't we punish her for it, sir?" Lute asked him and Adam seemed to like the idea which scared her even more.

Abigail didn't know what happened next but she felt a hard blow on the side of her head and the next thing she knew, she was being held down and cried out in pain when she felt four of her wings popped out of place.

"Be quiet or else we'll get caught, eavesdropping bitch." Lute sneered down at her.

Abigail sobbed softly in fear and pain as she felt a rough hand on her not injured wing and keened in pain and fear when a harsh tug pulled some of her flight feathers. She begged them to stop, promising not to tell anyone but they didn't listen. She felt Adam grabbed her halo and she practically begged him not to do anything but he just tore the halo from her head as she keened loudly in pain and agony. She curled into a fetal position, cradling ruined wings close to her as she looked up to see gold blood dripping down from the feathers that Adam pulled as they smiled down at her evilly.

"We can't let you tattle on us, girlie. So guess what? You're going straight to Hell. Hopefully some nut job will finish you off." Adam sneered as he snapped his fingers and a portal opened up below Abigail and she screamed once she fell through it as it closed up, leaving her in Hell.)

"After that... I've been so scared that they'll hurt me or anybody if I tell anyone what happened..."

Flashback ends;

"... and the rest is history..." Allison finished as she looked down at her hands.

Rosie has her mouth covered in shock as she listens to Allison finally admit her pain. For some reason, she felt anger and hatred coursing through her. How dare those angels hurt her dewdrop! Rosie calmed down when she saw the frightened look on Allison's eyes, even her wings were out and covered her like some kind of shield or protection.

"Oh, sweetie..." Rosie pulled the scared, terrified and exhausted seraphim on her lap and rocked them back and forth in order to comfort the younger one.

Allison just hid her face on her caretaker's chest while feeling gentle fingers comb through her feathers. She twitched a little but didn't stop Rosie. Weird. When was the last time she cleaned and preened her feathers? She can't remember how long but the way Rosie is running her fingers gently through each feather made her relax and slowly fell asleep.

Rosie listened to the soft snores of her little dewdrop. She can't leave her alone for now due to knowing how frequently she has nightmares every hour. The only time she can sleep peacefully is when she's with Allison or when jazz music is being played on the radio. Shifting down to settle down on the bed, she lays them down while holding her pseudo-daughter in her arms as she also falls asleep. She just hopes that she'll heal from the scars and nightmares that haunt her mind.
