Chapter 41

While leaving the restaurant, Bhargavi playfully asked Prabir, " So, how did you threaten the henchman, who had called you?" and in a child like voice continued, " please don't call me again, Mr. Henchman.

Oh! My God! You are so scary."

"Hey! Bhargu...stop teasing me", Prabir mumbled as all the others rolled out in hysterics.

They were on their way back, when Prabir received a call from Parul. He immediately received the call and heard a panicked voice from the other end, " Bhaiya...Sarvesh" she sobbed horribly, and paused before continuing.

"Paru ...what happened?" Prabir enquired concerned.

"Bhaiya...Sarvesh is not receiving my calls or replying back and he has left his home.

Ritvik uncle had called me up and he is equally worried about him", Parul informed.

"But why did he suddenly decide to leave?" Prabir asked tensed.

"Bhaiya, he has overheard Ritvik uncle speaking to his father on the phone", Parul replied snivelling.

"Don't worry Paru, I'll find him", Prabir assured his sister.

"What is it? What's wrong?" Bhargavi enquired curiously remarking the tension on Prabir's face as she was seated beside him in the car, on their return journey, while earlier this seat had been occupied by Ms. Nalini.

"It's Sarvesh, he has stormed out of his house and may be strolling somewhere alone. He has heard Ritvik uncle speak to his father and must have felt like being deceived and cheated", Prabir informed.

"But...where and how will you find him?" Bhargavi asked anxiously.

"I don't know, Bhargu", he replied sadly.

"Maa, please can you let Bhargu stay with Paru for tonight, at least till I am able to find out Sarvesh's hideout", Prabir pleaded with Ms. Nalini.

"Umm..Okay!" Ms. Nalini agreed in an instant.

Bhargavi snatched away Prabir's phone, which he still held in his left hand and called up Parul, " Paru..when Sarvesh took you out for a dinner, did he take you somewhere else apart from the Minchox restaurant?" she quizzed.

"He had taken me to the ghats of Baitarini river", Parul replied sobbing.

"Look, I know that you are probably freaked out but dear Paru..you whimpering like that and crying out a river, doesn't make me feel a bit warm in my hollow tin chest.

You are not writing an eulogy for a dead person, are you?

We'll find the coconut head, okay! " Bhargavi said annoyed and disconnected the call.

"Prabu..you can start your search from the ghats of Baitarini. Is crying one of her favorite hobbies or something?" Bhargavi sighed, as Prabir held a smirk on his face.

As soon as they reached, Parul darted out in frenzy towards Prabir and desperately insisted, "Bhaiya, please let me come with you."

Mr. Banerjee was finding it difficult to chase her, and after sometime reached her, panting and gasping for air.

"Noooo! You dummy little creature, you're staying back with me.

He doesn't need a grand search party, parading throughout the city looking out for Sarvesh; especially pretty girls like you toiling out late at night inviting trouble", Bhargavi said ruefully.

"Bhargu...please take her in", Prabir said brusquely without even getting out of the car and turned on the engine again after, Ms. Nalini and Bhawani had finally got down following Bhargavi, who had immediately got down once the car had come to a halt.

*******************
Prabir parked his SUV near the ghats of the Baitarini river and Sarvesh was flummoxed at first, watching him step out from the car but then realized instantly that it must have been Parul, who had sent him there to look for him.

Prabir slowly paced towards him and Sarvesh turned around to look at him, standing up and dusting himself on the steps of the ghat.

Sarvesh said tersely, " I beg your pardon for having spoilt your date.

Well, I have to admit that you look smoking hot!!" glaring at the formal black suit worn by Prabir.

"Let's go back home", Prabir uttered stifling a yawn.

"I am not going back to that backstabbing lier.

YOU may be a SAINT, who never gets enraged but I ...I am a SINNER, A MONSTER...A DEVIL..who killed his sister and was abandoned by his own father", Sarvesh yelled.

"Enough of that Shit! Neither am I a saint nor are you a sinner and you are coming with me now.

I have been dealing with a lot today and am not in a mood to keep on arguing with you.

If you don't want me to beat the hell out of you, please do as I say", Prabir growled threatening him and dragged him towards his SUV grabbing his arm.

Sarvesh gazed at Prabir in stark astonishment. He had lost all his cool demaneour, the beguiling charm, the comforting warm smile.

His eyes were stone cold. He wasn't trying to convince, persuade or compel him rather threatening him wildly.

Sarvesh's heart was in a monstrous turmoil, he was given a clear, and unpleasant warning with careless cruelty. He had never even imagined that Prabir could be so furious.

He now couldn't compare and examine who was actually scarier - Prabir or Bhargavi.

He felt his mouth and throat dry up quickly and felt a huge lump in his throat and swallowed hard as Prabir was emitting smoke from seven orifices.

Prabir flung the front passenger side door open and shoved in Sarvesh, taking care that his head does not bang, then slammed the door shut and jogged to the driver's side door and sank in, behind the steering wheel.

Within twenty minutes they arrived at the Banerjee residence, Prabir had completely skipped the promise he had made to Bhargavi, he drove savagely making Sarvesh enjoy the ride and be scared like freezing to death at the same time.

Prabir walked out of his car and dragged Sarvesh upstairs to his room. He took out his two t-shirts and two pajamas. He hurled a pair at Sarvesh and held one in his hands.

"Change and go to sleep", he blurted out enraged and left.

Bhargavi followed Prabir upstairs up to his room but waited outside. Parul was extremely shocked, seeing Prabir drag Sarvesh like this, and waited downstairs in the living room quietly.

"Bhargu ...I'll lock him up in my room tonight, so that he can't run away again.

I don't have the patience or the energy to speak to him right now. Can you please call up Ritvik uncle and inform him. You too should go back home now, it's quite late", Prabir whispered.

"Then you'll be sleeping downstairs? I'll explain everything to Paru and uncle, don't worry.

You go and get some rest, you look extremely fatigued and exhausted", Bhargavi mumbled softly. She slightly overlapped her thumb and index finger into a heart shape, making two tiny hearts with both her left and right hands and ran downstairs gleefully, smiling at him.

Prabir's happiness knew no bounds, the breathtaking beautiful sweet smile on Bhargavi's face had almost turned all his exhaustion and fatigue into something else, he was treading on the air. The only thing that he wanted now was to hold her in his arms but that would have to wait.

He walked downstairs to find Bhargavi explaining the situation to his father and sister.

Parul seemed to be unhappy with Prabir's decision and walked up to him and exploded, " Bhaiya....you can't do this to him".

"I can and I will Paru", Prabir retorted back.

"He may feel offended and obnoxious", Parul argued.

"Fine! I'll speak to him", Bhargavi interrupted.

Parul was reminded of the time, when Bhargavi had broken Sarvesh's index finger and her face turned ashen.

"Noooo...please let Baba speak to him", Parul pleaded.

" There is no need to lock him up, he is not a pervert or a criminal. I'll talk to him, he'll not leave", Parul said innocently fidgeting.

Prabir chortled out and said, " you crazy little...Paru... I'll lock him after  he's fast asleep, and he'll not even know that he had been locked. I'll unlock his room early in the morning. I just need to ensure that he doesn't run away, in between the few hours, while I sleep like a dead log.

I am not trying to offend your love", Prabir mocked.

Parul's face turned crimson red as she felt shy and embarrassed.

"That's a good idea, let uncle speak to him Prabu", Bhargavi adjoined.

"Let it rest for today please, Baba can talk to him tomorrow and I too will talk to him tomorrow.

All of you please go and get some rest now.

I'll not lock up his room, now go and rest Paru...

If that boy again runs away I'll again find him and bring him back", he concluded and walked towards the sofa and laid down resting his back, even without changing the formal clothes he had been wearing.

Mr. Banerjee had never seen Prabir get so tired before, he started to feel pity for his boy, who always was boisterous and lively.

Bhargavi walked up to him, and pulled him up, making him sit straight, " Prabu at least change your clothes and take off these formal clothing", she whispered.

Weary and tired, Prabir stood up and paced slowly to the guest room. Bhargavi bid goodnight to Parul and Mr. Banerjee and left for her home, knowing that her Maa would be patiently waiting for her.
