Chapter 31
Dedicated to ashona2
The man driving the car parked the car at a side and walked away. Parul noticed in a shimmer of the headlights of another car passing by, his eyes were moist and face was soaked in tears.
Sarvesh was still whimpering. Parul placed her arms around his neck and gently placed his head on her bosom. Calling out softly, "Sarvesh," she patted his back lightly.
In a deep coarse and choked voice he whispered," Parul.I tried to kill myself many times unable to bear the pain and agony of having killed my own sister, but each time...I was saved by Ritvik uncle.
He or his people follow me like a shadow. I don't live with my parents, instead I live with him."
Parul instantly realized that Sarvesh was talking about the man driving the car, as he had had to park the car, unable to control his emotional outburst on noticing the miserable plight of Sarvesh. She had been thinking he was a mere chauffeur, but now he seemed to be an important part of Sarvesh's life.
The unendurable vice-like torturous pang of guilt, that that developed in Sarvesh's chest and made him feel suffocated and choking, was all washed away as Parul uttered the most precious three words, he had been yearning to hear for almost about an eternity.
Parul mumbled softly, " Sarvesh..I love you. You are my Paradise and I will happily get stranded on you for a lifetime."
Lifting his head he intently looked into her sea green eyes, flabbergasted. He draped his arms around her, embracing her tightly as if he would never let her go.
Overwhelmed with emotions, tangled in a web, Parul was now in tears. She had always thought that she was dealing with so much pain in her life, all because of her obesity but ...
Sarvesh, he had lived his entire life repenting and lamenting; being hated by his parents and even self- loathing for a crime he never committed, it was a very unfortunate accident that had led to Shivani's death.
Regaining some grip on his emotional state now Sarvesh whispered,
"Parul...please don't cry" and she started to cry even bitterly. He rubbed his left hand on her back and mumbled, " Hey! Parul, please stop these water works before both of us drown."
She giggled out happily, and he sighed in relief.
" I'll call Ritvik uncle, you wait. I need to drop you back home in time," he said tenderly wiping off her tears with his left hand.
Sarvesh walked back to the car with Mr. Ritvik, and formally introduced him to her, " Parul. This is Ritvik uncle and he raised me since I was eleven years old."
"It is nice to meet you Parul. I and his mother Suhani were classmates. It is very unfortunate that we lost her in a road accident. The only thing she wanted me and Ayush, his father to do ...her last wish ...was to take care of her child and I have failed miserably.
Parul. Please never leave his side, I have never seen him so happy before," he pleaded.
"Uncle please let's go. We need to drop her off," Sarvesh gently reminded.
*************
It was around 9.30 when Sarvesh dropped Parul at her home. Prabir was extremely excited to know if things had gone well, between these two youngsters after Sarvesh's apology.
He was disappointed with the look on Parul's face as he opened the door buoyantly. Her hair which had been tied in a messy bun, now looked like a complete mess. Her makeup was ruined and he could easily tell with a simple glance that she had been crying her eyes out.
Parul just threw herself into her elder brother's arms carelessly. "Is Baba home?" She enquired politely.
"Yes, Parul, he just returned home," he answered back.
Parul went upstairs to her room and got refreshed and slid into comfortable clothes.
The dinner table was set by Prabir and Parul narrated the entire story from the start, but omitting a few instances that she felt devastated to be speaking about, before her father, though she would never mind letting Prabir know every miniscule detail of her life.
"So Sarvesh is banished from his own house. How could they not forgive a child for an accident even after so many years?
If their child died due to some major illness then who would they blame for her death?
Having already lost a child due to an accident, they should instead try to keep the other child close to their heart with all fervour, rather than abandon him," Mr. Banerjee said in dismay.
"Prabir. You look after that child Sarvesh. He's only fifteen years old and there is no reason on Earth why he needs to continue feeling like a sinner throughout his life," he instructed Prabir.
" Baba...I have only one question. May I speak to his parents and try to convince them?" Prabir quizzed.
"No...there is no need. Their hearts are made up of stone, gravel and silt. Why else do you think his own father couldn't forgive him, leave alone his step mother?" Mr. Banerjee retorted.
"Baba what if he believes that his son Sarvesh wilfully killed his daughter Shivani, because she was his step sister? His step mother treated both differently and being a child Sarvesh grew immensely jealous and took this drastic step.
He himself might be living a life of remorse and repentance, blaming himself each and every day for having remarried after his wife's death. A father can never have mental peace knowing that his own son killed his daughter, due to his envious nature," Prabir said thoughtfully.
"Do you think you can make him believe Prabir?" Mr. Banerjee inquired.
"I need to bring Sarvesh and his father to the same table, they themselves will resolve each other's queries regarding the incident that took place years ago, taking away an innocent life,"Prabir admitted.
"Bhaiya...I don't think this will work, Sarvesh might not agree to meet his father. I think you should first speak to Ritvik uncle," Parul added thoughtfully.
"Yeah! I will do that," Prabir said zealously.
Later at night Bhargavi called up Prabir and was given a brief of the entire past life of Sarvesh.
"I'll dig up his past don't worry! It has become my favorite pass time now," Bhargavi said gleefully.
"Bhargu. Are you still digging your nose in Mayank Sinha and his MLA father's old cases related to money laundering and forgery?" he asked sarcastically.
" Yes! It's hard to find evidence against them. I can't rely on witnesses.
Inspite of all this, I have a few things in hand, Mr. Nishwas Sinha has a construction company and they have been illegally looting poor people's money, I have gathered some evidence and will be leading an agitation of people from the back, with media from all over the nation covering it.
I have Mayank Sinha's confession recorded where he admitted having killed Dhruv's father in a road accident for which an innocent man was imprisoned. This recording is kept cautiously in my phone since a long time back.
He also has a jewellery company, and presently I am looking into it. I think it's a wonderful place to turn black money white. He also runs some casinos illegally," she concluded.
"Don't overwork yourself to such an extent that you collapse due to extreme fatigue. You are also writing some blogs and news articles, then you have your own studies, you need to help your Maa. From your voice itself you seem so tired,"he said concerned as she stifled a yawn.
Prabir disconnected the call and was on his way, jumping off the terrace and swiftly moving into Bhargavi's room. In the meantime she had already dozed off on the floor, where she was sitting with her back against the side of the bed, with five to six note books having some notes roughly scribbled on them and two fat big text books, along with highlighters, pens, pencils, and an eraser.
Picking up all the notebooks, books and other items, he arranged them on her study table, then he lifted her in his arms and tucked her in her bed, caressing her face tenderly.
Prabir knew writing blogs and articles were just as important to her as her studies, as this was a source of income for her but her mind always being filled with the thoughts of Mayank and Nishwas Sinha was what troubled him the most. She was chasing them for years, and now would not step back no matter what.
She was shoving herself into unknown dangers every other day, and even leaving Prabir in the darkness, with absolutely no knowledge of her whereabouts.
