Chapter 7 Impossibly black

Lamech

-----

I suppressed a sigh as I heard a woman's voice. It had taken me long enough to find the girl, and being interrupted was such a nuisance.

I took my eyes off the girl and turned to the woman that thought she could take on a vampire. It was pathetic really, how many that thought they were smart enough to best a vampire. Very few creatures had the strength and speed that it took. Of course, I had heard the rumors that such a creature existed in London. Rumors had reached the clan of vampires going missing. But as I laid my eyes on the woman in front of me, I knew she couldn't be the one.

She was beautiful, there was no denying that. Possibly she was the most beautiful woman I had ever seen. But she had her long, thick raven hair hanging loose, so she couldn't be a proper fighter. No proper fighter had their hair loose.

She was dressed for the part, I had to admit. Black, tight clothes that seemed easy to move in. The clothes also gave me a good opportunity to appreciate her body. It was a body that I definitely wouldn't mind having fun with. She clearly worked out a lot, but she also had proper curves. Nothing like the size zeros that was the day's ideal for a woman. I had never understood that ideal. The curves on the woman in front of me was much more attractive.

Her eyes though. Her eyes were all black, as if the pupil was all that there was. A part of me registered that it made her look somewhat creepy, but I also didn't think that at all. They just intrigued me.

She was beautiful, sexy. My mind imagined her without her clothes and underneath me. I couldn't remember the last time anyone had managed to stir me in such a way and I could feel that my primal side started to take over.

But doing anything of the sort, was not a good idea.

"You should leave while you can, little girl," I said, needing her gone. I didn't notice that I took a step towards her until after it was done.

"I won't let you hurt her," she answered.

I had a moment of bewilderment over what she meant. I had completely forgotten about the girl I had just turned my back on. The beautiful creature in front of me had driven all other thoughts away.

Then I noticed the stake in her hand. Anger flashed through me.

"I do not want to hurt you, but if you attack me I will," I warned, hoping that she would turn and run away. I didn't want to have to lay a finger on her, didn't want to see her hurt, much less by my hand. But of course, I would protect myself if she attacked and then it would be inevitable that she got hurt.

"Right. You'll just kill an innocent girl."

My anger intensified. The hatred in the woman's voice was clear and I loathed hearing it there. In general, I hated the bad reputation that vampires had, but for some reason it felt even worse hearing it from her lips.

"I have no intention of killing anyone," I said to try to convince her and because I didn't want her to think badly of me.

She laughed and I almost flinched back. The deadness in her laugh was heartbreaking.

"Manipulation and lies like that might work on some, but not me."

A snarl built up inside of me, but I didn't get a chance to get it out before she attacked.

She definitely wasn't a mere human. She clearly was magical somehow considering her speed and strength. But it also didn't make sense. She wasn't any type of shifter, she didn't smell like one. And they were the most common of the creatures that could somewhat match a vampire's speed and strength. A witch, I guessed. A powerful one that somehow had cast a spell on herself.

I tried to catch her over and over again, to restrain her so I could talk some sense into her, but she kept on getting away. Her knife stabbed me several times, created wound after wound that would refuse to heal until properly taken care of because of the iron. If I had been just any vampire she probably would have won easily.

For a moment I thought I had her as we fell to the ground, but once again she was much quicker than I thought possible. So quick that I barely had time to register the stake as it fell towards my heart. I could feel it pierce my skin, but then nothing more. She stopped. She had me, I should have been on my way to be burned. But the stake didn't go further in.

I didn't give myself time to reflex over her weird behavior. I threw the stake away before flipping her over and sinking my teeth into her neck.

When the first drop of her blood hit my tongue, a moan left me and vibrated towards her skin. In that first drop, I only felt the strength of her blood. By how she fought, it had been obvious that she was strong, but the strength of her blood told me she was much stronger than I had imagined. It made me even more curious as to what she was.

Then came the taste.

It was the most amazing thing I had ever tasted. Nothing could compare to the taste of her blood. It was like whiskey and grapes and dark chocolate, all mixed into one delicious taste but also all clearly separate.

Once I had calmed my mind from the strength and taste, one finally thing registered in my mind that broke any type of self-discipline I might had had.

She had her legs around my waist and I could feel her grinding herself towards me. Her arms were around me as well and her nails pressed so hard into me that they managed to cause me a slight amount of pain. And her voice, her moans. It was the most beautiful sound I had ever heard.

I couldn't think properly anymore. Her arousal made my own desire explode. One arm went around her waist, the other grabbed hold of her hair. I moved my body in rhythm with hers. Felt my cock grow and press into where it wanted to be. If it hadn't been for our clothes, I would have fucked her right then and there.

"Please." The single word escaped her lips in between two moans. For a second, I came back to my senses, assuming that the plead was for me to stop. I was about to pull away, but then another word escaped her lips. "More."

My hand holding her hair let go and moved to her breasts. Felt them and played with them. But I could feel how that wasn't enough for her, feel how she was getting frustrated and desperate. And it wasn't enough for me either.

My hand traveled down her body, but before it reached its goal, I became aware of that something was terribly wrong. I cleared my head, not wanting to let go of her I simply strained my ears to hear if there was any danger around. But it was all quiet.

All quiet.

I tore myself off her, as I also felt that almost no blood came out of her anymore, and stared at her completely still body.

"Fuck," was the only word that left my lips.

I had been completely honest with her. I hadn't wanted to hurt her, I sure as hell hadn't wanted to kill her. But I had lost control. Completely lost control.

When I had bitten her, I had only meant to drink enough to weaken her. I didn't kill. I hadn't killed to feed for about four hundred years. But the strength of her blood, the taste, her reaction... I had lost my mind in the moment, gotten too wrapped up in both sexual pleasure and the pleasure from the blood, and there she was. The most beautiful woman I had ever seen. Dead, because of me.

I just sat there and stared at her for a really long time. I would never know who she was, not even her name. I would never see those impossibly black eyes again. She hadn't deserved to die. If only she hadn't noticed me and the girl.

The girl.

I looked around, but wasn't at all surprised that the girl was gone. I would have to find her again. But that would have to be tomorrow, because the sun was on its way up.

I looked down at the woman again. I couldn't leave her there. She was too beautiful to be alone in such a grim place, even in death... Especially in death.

I picked her up in my arms and shock froze me. A weak sound, but definitely there. The sound of her breathing. I listened even harder. Her heart was also still beating. It was an odd and weak beating, caused, I was sure, by the fact that she basically had no blood in her. I had all but emptied her, but somehow she was still alive.

Fear spread through me. I couldn't remember the last time I was afraid. But the woman in my arms was not normal. Not even for a magical creature. By all logic, she should be dead. And she was without a doubt the one that was killing vampire after vampire throughout London. A clear threat to my people, to my clan.

Whatever she was, I knew she couldn't be allowed to walk free.
