Chapter 91 Annabel MacKenzie

Zoe

---

Harry was even younger than before. He sat at a table, and from looking around the room, he was at school. There were neat rows of desk and a blackboard in the front by which the teacher stood and called for attention, but Harry kept looking down and doodling in a notebook.

"We have a new student joining us today," the teacher said. "Why don't you introduce yourself to your new classmates?"

"Hi everyone," the voice of a girl sounded and Harry finally looked up. "I'm Annabel MacKenzie. I just moved here from Dallas, Colorado."

She went quiet and looked over at the teacher, who had an expectant look on his face.

"Oh, you want me to say more?" she asked. "Well, my proudest achievement is making a basketball game into a soap basketball game."

"Come again?" the teacher asked with a frozen expression.

"I got soapy water all over the PE-hall right before a basketball match. Purely accidental, of course."

She had a wide smile on her face as she looked at her fellow classmates and Harry looked at her with a bright light in his eyes.

Annabel MacKenzie. Without a doubt, Felix's mother.

The memory ended, and I didn't hesitate as I jumped into the next one with the same combo of colors. The red and gray but a thin gold mixed into it.

Harry was pushed up against a locker by a boy who looked to be twice his size. There were two other boys standing to the side with their arms crossed over their chests and smirks on their faces.

"You're so fucking weird, Jackson. Your weird face makes my fist itch," the boy holding Harry said and raised his hand.

"So you're only hitting him because he's weird?" a girl said to the side, and I didn't need to look at her to know it was Annabel.

"Annabel!" the boy exclaimed, and he lowered his hand and his grip on Harry seemed to lessen. "What... How are you?"

The boy's face had gone slightly red and I could imagine why. Annabel was pretty, but it was more than that. From the personality she had shown during that first day, there was no doubt in me that she was popular.

"I asked you a question," she said and put one hand on her hip.

"Wha... what?"

"Are you only hitting him because he's weird?" she repeated herself.

"Ehm... ye... yeah," the boy stammered.

"Do you want to hit me too, then?"

"Of course not!"

"Didn't you say that you think I'm weird Tuesday last week? What was it? Weird, but cute and funny?"

The boy opened his mouth, but no words came out. After a ridiculously long time of him being stunned, he let go of Harry and walked off with his friends. Mumbling an excuse as they left.

"You alright?" Annabel asked Harry. "Let me know if they ever give you problems again."

I went straight for the next memory.

Harry and Annabel walked next to each other in the school hall.

"Attention everyone," a voice came from speakers set up all around the school. "Three of the four pigs have been caught. If anyone has seen the last pig or knows who is responsible for letting them into the school, please contact a teacher immediately."

Annabel stifled a giggle and turned to Harry.

"Can you keep a secret?" she asked, but didn't wait for an answer before leaning in and whispering in his ear. "I'm the one that let the pigs in."

Harry's eyes widen as Annabel smiled brightly.

"You're crazy!" he hissed at her. "What if someone had caught you? And where did you get four pigs from?"

Annabel put a hand over her mouth to stop the oncoming giggle before leaning in one more time.

"Want to know another secret? It's only three pigs. I just put the numbers one, two, and four on them to confuse everyone."

Harry looked at her with a mixture of admiration, amusement, and disapproval. It got her to laugh even harder, but quickly she collected herself and kissed his cheek.

"You're so adorable. That's one of the reasons I love you," she said.

Harry's face was bright red as he looked down and mumbled: "I love you too. And I've been wanting to ask. Do you... Do you want to be my girlfriend?"

"Am I not that already? Come now! I want to swing by the principal's office to see how angry he is."

She took hold of his hand and ran through the corridor.

Next memory wasn't in the school, and they looked older. I doubted that much time had gone by, it was just that they didn't look like teenagers anymore, but adults. It was night, and they stood on a hill, looking up at the sky. There were no clouds, and the stars shone brightly.

"There!" Annabel exclaimed suddenly. "Can you see it?"

Harry looked up quickly and saw the streak of light that moved across the night sky. But his eyes went back to Annabel almost immediately.

"It's so beautiful," she whispered.

"Couldn't agree more," Harry mumbled before he took a deep breath. "Annabel, I want to ask you something."

"Go for it," she said, but her eyes remained on the sky.

Harry went down on one knee and took out a ring from his pocket.

"Annabel MacKenzie. Will you marry me?"

Her eyes finally left the sky to land on Harry. They shone as brightly as the stars in the sky.

She fell to her knees and wrapped her arms around Harry before kissing him with such a force that they both fell to the ground.

"Yes, silly," she said. "A thousand times yes."

Next, they stood facing each other. Harry wore a suit and Annabel a wedding dress.

"I hereby pronounce you husband and wife. You may now kiss your bride," the priest said and to cheering from the watching crowd, Harry planted a kiss on Annabel's lips.

In yet another memory, Harry walked into the living room of the house he still lived in, but it looked so different. Photographs stood here and there. Flowers both in the windows and on the coffee table. And it all just looked much brighter and warmer. Brightest and warmest of it all was Annabel, though, sitting on the couch with a blanket wrapped around her and a book in her hands.

"How was your day, darling?" she asked and put the book down.

Harry let out a sigh and sat down next to her. "Dad is pushing relentlessly about me learning more about witches. But I still don't know if I want to follow that path or do something else."

"I'm sorry," she answered and moved closer. "Try not to let him get to you. Focus instead on finding something you will be happy doing."

He kissed her forehead. "What would I do without you?"

"Drown in misery," she said in a joking tone. "I got a present for you. Maybe that'll cheer you up even more."

She reached to under the table and pulled out a small but long, rectangular gift. Harry gave her a suspicious look but took the present and unwrapped it. There was a box inside, a box that clearly read pregnancy test on it.

"You... you're..." Harry looked up with shining eyes and opened the box. A positive pregnancy test fell out.

Harry let out a jubilant sound before first kissing Annabel on the lips and then her stomach while she giggled happily.

I moved on and the next was in a hospital room.

"He's a healthy little boy," a nurse said before handing over a baby to Harry. He in turned handed over the baby to Annabel who laid on the hospital bed looking exhausted but still as bright and happy as always.

"A boy," she said in a weak voice.

"Yes, our little boy," Harry smiled brightly.

Annabel stroked the baby's tiny fist with a finger. "Hi, my angel. I love you so, so much. My perfect little Felix."

The memory ended, and I was so wrapped up in everything that I almost went straight into the next one without a second thought. But the change in colors froze me in place and I felt my insides plummet to the ground.
