chapter 3
Sorry for the extremely short chapter. To make it up to you guys, I made the Tonituum.
"And!?!" everybody said.
"I'm too tired to finish telling the story," Marland said. "When we get back to town, I'll tell the rest. But before that, get to work!" Everyone sighed and got back to work. It was a long day and we got nothing. Except for a broken net. We are about 20 miles from the shore, we use deep-sea nets. I take us an hour to get to shore unless there is a storm. Unfortunately, there is one and were about to be in it. I was taking the nets to the ship's storage. I opened the door to get inside the ship. I looked to the right and saw the ship's name painted in black. It is "Tonituum" (authors note: it's Latin for thunder). As I was walking down the hallway, I saw a partially open door and heard Porter say,
"Uh oh." I opened the door with my free hand and walked in.
"What?' I asked.
"I look on the sonar." He answered. I looked and I saw a giant splotch on the sonar screen.
"What. Is. That." I said gravely.
"I don't know."
"Let's get James and see what he thinks it is."
"Good idea," Porter said. He then grabbed the intercom and said, "James, please com to the sonar station right now." When James came, there were two curious sailors behind him.
"What is it?" James asked. Porter told him to look at the sonar. James looked and then said, "what is that?!?" The splotch was now circling us. Like a shark getting ready to attack.
"It's half the size of the ship!" the smaller one of the two sailors cried.
"it's probably a submarine," James said. "Right?"
"Even if it is, why would they be circling us?" I pointed out.
"Could they be doing an exercise?" Porter asked.
"in a storm? They'd have to be crazy!" James said.
"I'll go look outside." They sailor bigger sailor said. He walked outside. We waited about a minute before became back in.
"did you see anything?" I asked.
"nothing except a shark."
"A shark?!?" I cried. "which side was it on!?!"
"portside," he said.
"Are you positive that it is a shark fin?" Porter questioned.
"Positive." The sailor said. James and I looked at each other. We then ran to the outside of the ship and headed to the left side of the ship. Then I saw it. A tall black fin. It was bigger than any shark fin I have seen in my life.
"that's no shark," I spoke.
"Could it be a whale?" Porter said.
"Nope. We got ourselves a Crisher." Marland said. I didn't even notice him walk up. James and porter were so startled that they practically jumped a mile high. "Grab the harpoons and a rifle. We are going to take this thing down."
