Chapter 22
Lilisa was walking to the garden to meet with Thranduil. She walked outside and started heading to the garden. She was so excited to see what Thranduil had planned for tonight. When she got to the garden she was surprised. She saw the pathway lit by lanterns and it even hard arches made out of plants. Lilisa thought it was so beautiful. She couldn't believe Thranduil did all of this for her.
Lilisa walked down the path and was even more surprised to see what was at the end. There were flowers everywhere. Some were in pots, while others were planted in the ground. And under a small tree was a bench. Lilisa walked over to the bench slowly, so she could look at every flower she passed. Then she sat down on the bench.
Lilisa had to wait a little bit before Thranduil showed up, but she didn't mind. Everything he did for her was beautiful. She couldn't believe he went through all of this trouble for her. She was really happy right now. Thranduil walked closer to her.
"I can't believe you did all of this." said Lilisa. "It is beautiful."
"I'm glad you like it because there is something I would like to ask you." replied Thranduil.
"And what would that be?" asked Lilisa.
Thranduil didn't answer her question. Instead he walked closer to her and kneeled down in front of her. Lilisa's eyes just looked at him. Thranduil pulled out the pouch and looked up at Lilisa. He took a couple of minutes before saying anything because he want to think about what to say to her. Then he began speaking.
"Lilisa, before you came into my life I was hurting inside. I was not the best king or father. But when yo came into my life that all changed. I fell in love with you. Your character was what grabbed my attention. I have never met anyone like you before. And now that I am sure that I want to be with you for the rest of my days, I just have one more thing to ask you," explained Thranduil. "Lilisa, will you marry me?"
Thranduil pulled out his wife's wedding ring and held it in front of Lilisa.
Lilisa was shocked. She was not expecting this at all. Everything he did to the garden was wonderful. The wedding ring was beautiful. But yet, something was wrong. Lilisa didn't give Thranduil an answer right away. Her eyes went back and forth from Thranduil to the ring. She needed to think before she would give him an answer. She knew in her heart that she loved Thranduil, but something was wrong. Lilisa could tell that Thranduil was waiting for an answer, but she didn't even have an answer for herself. It was like everything went by fast, when it really didn't. After all of her thinking, Lilisa finally had an answer for him.
"I-" started Lilisa.
Sorry for the short chapter. And I apologize for the cliff hanger, but I thought it would be good to tell you the rest in the next chapter.
