"She's just like every other princess, all sparkle no substance" 

The First Ones. The first to settle Etheria. Or at least, from what we know. They spoke of a legend, a myth if you will, that would always appear in their hour of greatest need. A warrior named She-Ra, princess of power. But there was another legend, one not even the oldest still remember, the legend of the first princess, Ember. Born to King Grayskull and Queen Marlena, she is the last first one. Our story begins on a cool September night, not like any other.

3rd Person POV
"Gray, we need to send her away!"
"Marlena, don't you see? We don't know what's out there! We could be sending her to her death for all we know!"
"Hordak is coming for us Gray! And we both know we will not live to fight another day! There is no choice. She must be sent to the future."
King Grayskull gently cradles his daughter before looking up to his wife with determination. "Open the portal." He says, his voice cracking with every syllable. Marlena walks over, tears forming in her eyes. "Little one, don't be afraid. For someday, we will meet again." She sings, before slipping a small metal bracelet onto her first and only child's wrist. She glances up at her husband, and her child's father, before gracefully moving her hands in a circular motion, opening a blinding blue portal. King Grayskull places his daughter through the portal as a loud "BOOM!" Rocks the entire building. "They're here." He whispers, looking at Marlena solemnly. He grasps his wife's hand and they begin their final march out of their once beloved home. Marlena gives one last glance at the sky before she and her husband are blinded by a green light.

Meanwhile, 10 thousand years later on the outskirts of the whispering woods, a strange shadowy figure approaches the seemingly unmoving infant. She bends down to inspect the lump, before gently picking it up and floating back to her runestone.
