{XX.} Metallic Silver.

Vanessa and the others rose up above the surface of the middle of the Atlantic. Vanessa pushed her hair back, "The water seems a bit different in this part."

"You'll get use to it after a while. It's the same salt water but you can always tell the difference between the locations." Ninda said.

"Are you sure we're going the directions?" Raphael asked.

"Yes, of course." she said. "I've been swimming around this world for hundreds of years. It's gonna take a bite more time but we're close."

"We should keep our eyes open for any of the girls." Kyoko said, looking around nervously.

Ninda nodded, "Yes. Queen Vanessa and I will lead the way while you four keep a watch out in all direction. They girls are sneaky, so if there's anything suspicious don't hesitate to let us know. We gotta take no chance."

"And when that happens, what?" Raphael asked. "We fight? You all might be but me and Vanessa aren't fighters."

Ninda swam over to Raphael, "Well you better start now if you wanna protect her." she said. Raphael gave her a slight hard look but nodded his head. "Our main goal is to get Queen Vanessa inside so she can find the Elixir, it's most likely still in that box of hers." She turned to look at me, "It's a very old wooden box, it's not very big. She keeps the liquid in a small vial, it's a silverish-gray color and very thick looking. She use to wear it as a necklace so it might have a chain."

"You should get it since you know what it looks." Vanessa said, biting the inside of her cheek.

She shook her head, "I'm the strongest among the girls. I have to fight allot of them off as I can. You can do this." she said. She looked up at the sky, the sun turning the sky a mixture of red, pink, and purple as it started to drop. "We should be quick. Lets go."

"Wait." Vanessa said, grabbing her arm before she could go under the water. "We look for Adalyn also before we leave. She's in trouble."

"If she's with Queen Severina, that's a lost hope-"

"We find her." Vanessa said sternly as she pressed her lips together. "I was so mean to her and all she ever has done was be there of for me. She was just letting her feelings get the best of her. We don't leave without her. Not matter. . . no matter what stage she is in. Okay?" she said, looking at all of them and they stared at her for a moment before nodded but Ninda so she turned her attention to her.

Ninda sighed heavily, "Okay."

They went back under the water and kept heading towards the island that Vanessa still wasn't sure what to expect. She was already feeling tired and this all was worried her. She could feel her heart racing inside her chest because she knew going against Queen Severina was possibly the worse thing to do. She knew going inside this there was so many risk but what could she do? This wasn't just about James anymore but Adalyn. Yes, they had an argument but Adalyn has always been there since the beginning.

She wasn't gonna abandoned her now.

Something deep down inside of her knew she wouldn't have the guts to even think of doing this if it wasn't for Ninda and the girls. They talked her into doing this-even though she knew she had to do this-and she was risking everything. Mostly her own life but she had to at least try. If she wasn't gonna be human anymore, she can't wait hundreds of years like the girls need to teach Queen Severina a lesson.

Vanessa turned her head to look at Ninda for a second and knew she should be known as Queen. Ninda was strong and confidant, she knew how to be a mermaid. Vanessa was a child, she hardly knew how to handle things in her human life. What were they really expecting from her? That's why she let Ninda take control of how things go because Ninda truly deserved to be leader.

One of the girls grabbed Vanessa by her waist and pulled her away. They all stopped and Hasina pointed down at the bottom of the ocean floor where five Mermaids were with one of them holding a bow and arrow. Vanessa mouth dropped because she hadn't even noticed and if Hasina hadn't pulled her away that arrow would have gone through her heart.

Vanessa looked at Ninda concern and Ninda raised her hand. Vanessa knew what she was trying to say and she turned to look at the girls who were swimming towards them. She held her hand out quickly and pushed the girls down onto the ground, locking them there.

It was a serious, expected, and tough to getting towards the island. They all hide behind a large rocks and Vanessa climbed up to look over it to see an island that wasn't very big but it was surely abandoned. At least that's what Queen Severina wanted people to think. Especially fisherman and sailors.

There's a rock tunnel on the east end." Ninda said, pointing where Vanessa had to go. "It leads to her den."

"It's quiet." Raphael said. "Too quiet."

"That's because their waiting for us to do something first." Ninda said. "Come on, lets go."

"How do know if she's in there or not?" Vanessa asked, looking at Ninda concern.

Ninda was quiet for a moment before shrugging, "One of us become a decoy."

"Not it." Raphael said, making Ninda grin for a second before her look turn serious.

"Come on, lets go." she said as they jumped back down into the water. They swam all the way over towards the east end of the island.

"Ahh!" Tavia scream and they all stopped. They turned her head around to see Tavia being pulled away. Soon Alia was pulled away and Ninda grabbed Vanessa arm, pulling her further towards the underwater cave. They all swam inside the entrance of the cave and Vanessa held her head out, making an ice wall, making it thick and hard.

Vanessa saw shadows on the other side of the wall and her heart beat quicken as she saw. She swallowed a hard lump in her throat as she watch them try to break through the glass. She pressed herself against the wall of the cave and Raphael came over, wrapping his arms around her.

Ninda swam over and pointed for her to go down the tunnel of the cave. Vanessa looked one last look at the ice wall before she turned and hurried down the tunnel alone, leaving them there just in case. Vanessa saw a light coming from the end of the tunnel and she swam up to the open surface where she saw inside the cave.

Vanessa eyes widen as she looked around the large open cave where the walls were covered in crystal in many different colors. It was amazing and breathtaking that she didn't wanna look away. The room was fit for a Mermaid queen.

She looked around seeing random things probably taken from abandoned ships. What made her mouth drop was the pile of coins around the floor. Vanessa swam over to the edge of the rocks and lifted herself out of the water, changing her tail back to her legs.

She looked around the beautiful crystal cave and wished so badly she could see to admire the beauty of it.

"Vanessa." she heard from the pond and her blood turned cold as she turned around. When she saw it was only Raphael she breathed out in relief but he had a concern face. "You have to hurry and look for it. Their breaking through the ice." There was smashing sound that made them jerk roughly. He turned his head around looking under the water before he turned to look at her with a panic one. "Hurry." he said before going back under the water.

She nodded and looked around, not sure where to really start so she just went over to the closest trunk and opened it up but only found humans stuff from the eightieth century. She went over to another one and another one, not finding any small wooden box.

Closing the third trunk with frustration she ran her fingers through her hair in pure frustration. She threw her arm around in randomness and lot of things around the cave was thrown around. In the corner of her eyes she saw something old and broken on her right. She turned her head to see a long chain necklace with a crystal made vial hanging on the bottom. It shimmered, the color was metallic silver.

Her eyes widen as she walked over and bent down, picking the necklace up gently by the chain as if it would break if she touch the crystal. There was a cork at the bottom of the crystal vial and she knew this was the Elixir.

She felt this strange feeling was behind her and her back stiffen roughly. She looked in the corner of her eyes to see blonde hair and she quickly stood up turning around to see Adalyn coming to her with a knife in her hand. She lunged her arm out towards Vanessa and Vanessa cried out dodging her by throwing her body to the ground.

She held the necklace close towards her as she looked up at Adalyn. Her eyes were widen and panicked as she looked at Vanessa. She held the old ancient knife up, her hand shaking violently in her hand. Actually, her whole body was shaking and she looked like she was in pain as she stood above Vanessa.

Adalyn didn't want to do this, someone was making her.

"Adalyn, what's happening to you?" Vanessa asked, throwing the necklace around her neck. Adalyn cried out as she threw her body down to the ground and her hand holding the knife came towards her. Vanessa cried out as she pushed herself away, "Adalyn!" Adalyn sat on her knees as she gasped and brought the knife up towards her neck so Vanessa quickly got up and reached for the knife, "No!" she yelled, taking the knife was her.

"Human blood is made of mostly water." she heard Queen Severina voice behind her and her blood turned cold. She gripped roughly onto the knife since it was the only weapon she had other than her abilities that might have no chance of standing against Queen Severina abilities. "This the biggest offence that I ever received, Vanessa."

Vanessa didn't want to turn around. It was like watching a scary movie and trying hard not to cover your eyes. She forced herself to slowly and carefully turn around to face Queen Severina. She stood five feet away from the Mermaid Queen who didn't look angry. She actually looked more disappoint. Her head was tilt, her hair hanging in waves all the way down her back. She wore a long white dress and looked more like an Angel than mermaid.

"I let you off from being in the Coven. I let you off for taking the girls out of the Arctic. I won't let you get away with stealing from me." she said. She shook her head, "Vanessa, you are such a bad, bad girl."

She brought her hand up the Elixir, "We need it."

She stepped towards Vanessa so Vanessa stepped aside, "I found it, it's mine. It belongs to me, not you. You will not take what's mine anymore." Queen Severina opened her palm and Vanessa palm open, making the knife drop from her hand.

"Please." Vanessa said, ready to beg for it. "He needs this or he'll die. You changed it, you did this to him. You should do this."

She snorted, "I was giving you an example. I knew those two boys won't ever get along. Men never get along. Lessons need to be learn and bringing males into the Coven-biggest mistake ever."

Vanessa stepped more away as Queen Severina tried to get closer, "He wants to be human again. If she doesn't, he's gonna die. This is the only thing that'll save him."

She sighed heavily, "I don't care. You've broken too many rules, Vanessa. I made a mistake thinking you could start the new generation. You prove to be nothing but rebellious. That good girl is nothing but an act."

"You took my life away." Vanessa said, pressing her lips together roughly. "I wasn't even asked, you forced this onto me. Adalyn was just doing what you said."

She chuckled, "You act as if this life is so horrible. Answer me," she said, her amusement gone. "What was your old life before? You were plain, ordinary. Your life was boring. I gave you everything you have now. Beauty, abilities, a chance for adventures. All I wanted was your loyalty but you decided to be a selfish brat."

"You did give me that but I was fine with my old life." she said. "What's worse, I wasn't even giving a chance to stay human. I'm forced to be like this for the rest of my life." She gripped her hand around the necklace roughly before it hit her, "Unless I take this."

Queen Severina sighed heavily, "I would rather kill you than let you even get a lick of what's inside. It's a shame, you would have been my favorite."

She held her hand out and Vanessa was pushed into the water. She was pushed further down and her back hit the ground roughly. Queen Severina dove into the water and came towards Vanessa. She grabbed Vanessa by her throat and squeezed. Vanessa eyes widen as she looked up at Queen Severina who eyes burned with fury. The disappointment was gone and nothing but anger was there.

Vanessa pressed her hands against Queen Severina shoulders and pushed but Queen Severina wouldn't budge. Vanessa cried out, pushing all her strength until Queen Severina was flown off her. Queen Severina flew back against the wall of the tunnel but she caught herself. She growled at Vanessa as she got up from the surface.

Queen Severina started to push herself off the wall when Adalyn dove into the water above Queen Severina. Adalyn jumped on her back and Adalyn saw the knife before Adalyn forced into Queen Severina chest.

Queen Severina cried out in pain as she grabbed Adalyn by her hair and threw her aside like a rag with a growl of anger. Adalyn was holding her breath as she fell at the bottom of tunnel and Vanessa swam over, grabbing her and wrapped her arms protectively around her.

Mermaids swam past Vanessa and Adalyn over towards their queen. They grabbed onto the Queen Severina helped her out of the water. Vanessa took Adalyn hand and quickly swam them down the tunnel, closing it off with a crystal shield this time.

Adalyn gasped for her when they reached the top. She gasped heavily as she attached herself to Vanessa before she started crying, begging Vanessa to forgive her about trying to kill her. Vanessa hugged her as she looked at Ninda, Raphael, Hasina, and Kyoko who was bruised and cut up.

"Do you have it?" Ninda asked. Vanessa reached between her and Adalyn, grabbing the crystal vial, and showed them. Ninda nodded, "Good. Good, now lets get the hell out of here."

Vanessa breathed out heavily, "Adalyn stabbed Severina in the chest. Please tell me that got her. Right?"

Ninda shrugged looking unsure, "I don't know. With your abilities, you both can heal fairly quickly. That's why we must go, now."

Raphael grabbed her wrist gently, "Want me to carry her?" Vanessa looked at the cut under his cheek and she touched it, making him jerk but he pulled his face away, "I'm fine, really." He took Adalyn by her arm and she went onto his back.

"What about Tavia and Alia?" Vanessa asked.

"They knew the risk, we all did." Ninda said. She frowned, her eyes watering up but she held the tears coming, "They would want us to keep going, not waste time looking for them. We need to go. Now! Before Queen Severina sends the hundreds for us."
