He was only seventeen, nearing the age of eighteen when he ran away from home. He was afraid of the upcoming responsibilities that would come at the end of his last adolescent school year. It was expected of him to become a man now. To work. To marry. To have children and slave his life away doing hard labor so he could provide for them. It was every mans' duty to take care of their family, and make sure they were well fed. Harry didn't want that. He was sick of all the adults asking him what he wanted to do with his life, knowing the answer they desired wasn't the one he truly had. What did he want to do with his life? He wanted to have fun, be adventurous, spontaneous, and live. He saw how the grown ups never smiled, never laughed or did anything remotely entertaining. They didn't know the meaning of lighthearted pleasure, all they had were permanent scowls on their faces and rules. So many rules, and laws they had to live by and Harry hated being told what to do. He despised it all, the posh clothing, the manners, the expectations society put on him to be a man and he wasn't ready. He never would be.
So he left, and in the midst of running through the streets of England late at night he spotted a ship floating along the docks of the English Channel. With having no where else to go, the boy snuck onto the ship and fell asleep, only to wake up and find it had taken him to a place called Neverland. He was lost, confused with the beauty and land surrounding him. His leaving home wasn't supposed to be permanent, he didn't have a plan but he only wanted to go away just for awhile. Yet Neverland was calling to him. It was a place he discovered that had everything he had always dreamed of, where there was magic, fairies, and mermaids. Though he was alone for years, he still found some way to entertain himself. He made friends with the fairies, and the mermaids, but it wasn't long until he found another boy near the age of fourteen lost on the island. His name was Peter, and Harry was quick to befriend the boy, teaching him everything he had learned so far on the island. One by one Harry and Peter found more boys as time passed and slowly they formed their own little pact, Harry easily named the leader with him being the oldest of them all.
He was happy, and so content with the life he now lives. Neverland. It was a place where he could be juvenile, a place he could be mischievous with his new friends, a place where he could have all the fun he wanted with out anyone telling him what to do or what was acceptable. Where he never had to become a man.
It was everything he had ever wanted.
Until, he stumbled upon a beautiful lost girl lying unconscious underneath the tree of pixie dust.
Then everything he ever thought he knew, changed.
