Gwen's scream bounced off the trees and though it was cut short by the sudden pull of the fin wrapped around her legs, she was hopeful Harry had heard her. It was the loudest she had ever screamed in her life and even after she was plunged beneath the water, she could feel the aching of her throat from it. Water invaded her nostrils and mouth while bubbles scattered her vision. She thrashed her body as best as she could, throwing her arms out blindly to hit whoever had a hold on her. Her hair was whipping past her and her ears began to ache so she fought to catch a glimpse of what was happening. Her eyes were burning but she managed to see that she was being pulled down to the floor of the lake.

She began to panic, trying her hardest to get out of the fin wrapped around her. She reached down and dug her nails into the slimy fin, feeling scales slipping under her fingernails. A high pitched painful scream filled her ears through the water and the fin released her subconsciously. She took the opportunity to escape, hurriedly swimming her way up back to the surface. Legs kicking profusely despite her night gown weighing her down. And it was as if one of the mermaids had read her mind, because the next thing she knew there was a hand gripping the end of her gown and pulling down on it. She felt part of it rip but ignored it, forcing herself to fight her way back up because she was choking on water and wasn't sure how much longer she'd be able to swim. She needed air desperately so she kicked the mermaid's hand away hard, before hurriedly moving closer to the surface. Hands dug into her ankle, nails sharp as claws scratching at her skin and with out thinking opened her mouth to scream in pain. Bubbles clouded her vision as she did while another hand pushed down on top of her head.

Hazel eyes locked with brown ones and she almost screamed again in fear when she saw Venus's sharp sharklike teeth. It was a sight she hadn't been expecting to see so she flinched back and became momentarily distracted, giving the mermaids the upper hand again. Venus shoved Gwen down, her teeth on full display and brown eyes now looking golden. Gwen snapped back to reality and reached up to push Venus's hands off her head but it seemed so useless. It was three of them against one of her and they were made for the water. There were hands pulling on her from every direction, ripping at the skirt of her gown and clawing her skin. She could feel the strong sting of it each time they scratched her and her head ached from all the hair pulling. Gwen was at a huge disadvantage being a normal human and as much as she wanted to fight back, her muscles were tightening up and she felt lightheaded.

Positive that she was going to be killed by these three mermaids, her hands weakly tried to push them away. Her eyes fluttered as she fought to keep them open just as she heard another loud scream of pain through the water. It was so loud it made her ears ache more and she tore her tired eyes open to see Venus being dragged away from her. She couldn't see who was pulling her away, but whoever it was must of done something to scare the rest of them because the other two mermaids instantly released Gwen.

A short burst of adrenaline ran through her veins at the fact she was free and she forced her tired limbs to kick her way to the top. Her lungs were begging for air and the closer she got to the surface, the more they ached. Her heart was pounding in her ears and the moment she reached the top and her head was above water, she let her body go limp knowing she would end up just floating. She was gasping and coughing up water before she let her body move to float tiredly on her back. It wasn't until she finally had enough air did her surroundings register to her ears.

There was shouting and then someone was gripping Gwen's arm and wading her to the edge of the lake. Arms tucked themselves under her armpits before they hitched her up onto the rocketed floor, lying her body down carefully. Gwen's eyes lazily moved around the lake and then she finally saw the source of all the commotion.

There by the cliff, Peter was floating above the water and holding up Venus against the rock. His hands were pushing her shoulders against the rock hard as her fin thrashed where it hung. Just the tip was in the water and she was gasping for air, her razor sharp teeth on full display. The other two mermaids were still in the water, but Gwen could see Will and Earl had them in a choke hold where they squatted at the edge of the lake. They had their makeshift knives held up against their throats and the mermaids looked terrified.

Once she had taken in what was going on around her, she finally noticed that it was Harry who pulled her out of the lake and was now brushing some of her hair back. Her hazel eyes flickered up to meet his green worried ones and she gave him a faint smile.

"Are you alright?"

She couldn't find it in her to talk at the moment so she merely gave him a small nod. Harry pressed his hand to her cheek once more before suddenly shooting up to his feet and barking an order to another lost boy. The boy moved to stand over Gwen protectively and Gwen looked further to the edge of the trees to see not only several fairies surrounding the lake but all of the lost boys as well. Each and every single one of them with their swords withdrawn.

Harry stormed down the edge of the lake to where Peter floated in the air, his hands tightly grasping Venus's shoulder. She was still struggling but the moment her eyes fell onto Harry past Peter's shoulder, her face paled and she froze. Harry only stopped once he stood right at the edge where Peter was, his hands fisted at his sides. "Release her."

Peter gave no warning as he did exactly what Harry said, leaving Venus to skid her back against the rock as she fell back down into the water. She didn't bother swimming away, her eyes were still trained on Harry and Gwen watched as her sharklike teeth retracted back into her gums. She blinked to make sure she wasn't seeing things but nope, her teeth really disappeared into the gums of her mouth.

"What the hell do you think you are doing Venus?" Harry said loudly, tone filled with anger.

"We were only having a small quarrel." Venus lamely tried to defend herself, looking up at Harry through her eyelashes. "It was innocent."

"Innocent?" Harry asked incredulously and in the blink of an eye, he was floating in the air and flying right for Venus. She didn't have time to understand what he was doing before she was suddenly pinned to the wall where Peter had her just moments ago. Except this time, Harry had his hand clasped around her neck while the other hand held his extremely sharp knife to her bare stomach. "Just like this is, right? You were trying to kill her!"

Venus's eyes were wide with fear and something wild; she was getting off on this. That much Gwen could tell but her fear seemed to be overpowering everything else because she was gasping for air again and trying to pry Harry's hand away from her neck. She coughed out her next words. "She's changing you. I just wanted you back."

"You never had me to begin with." He spat then released her, flying back into the air to dodge her body from hitting him as she fell back into the water. "You and I were only ever friends, Venus. But we are no longer even that."

"Harry," she gasped and swam closer to where he floated, batting her eyelashes at him sadly. "I'm sorry. I won't ever harm her again, please just forgive me."

"No." He said sternly and flew back to the edge before he landed on his feet. "You're a despicable person for trying to kill her out of your own jealousy. I don't want someone like you in my life." He said so coldly that even Gwen flinched from his words. "Never come to this side of our land again. I'll be sure to speak to your queen and let her know I hold no grudge to the rest of the mermaids for what you've done, but you? You can go straight to hell." He hissed before turning his head swiftly to the other two mermaids that Will and Earl still held a sword to. "I never want to see you two here again either. If I see any of you three on our side of land, I won't hesitate to kill you myself."

The two mermaids nodded vigorously before Harry stared at the three of them a moment longer and jerked his head. "Let them go."

Earl and Will released them and the moment they did, the two mermaids plunged beneath the water and hurriedly swam off. Venus still floated where she was, her eyes glistening with unshed tears and her bottom lip quivering. "Harry." She whispered pleadingly. He turned to look back down at her and his eyebrows were pinched together tightly, lip curled in disgust.

"Leave, Venus."

"Please." She said again and swam closer to the edge. "I'm sorry. What more can I say?"

"Nothing. You've destroyed whatever trust I had in you. And with out trust there is no friendship so go. Get out of here before I give in to my urge to kill you."

Venus stared up at him for another brief moment before she turned and dipped down into the water. Her fin left a little splash, leaving ripples in her wake and then she disappeared.

Harry's shoulders rose and fell once as he took a deep breath in an attempt to rid some of the anger built in his chest. It only worked a little but he managed to clam himself down enough so he could go back to Gwen. She was his priority at the moment so after he had taken another deep breath he turned on his heel and moved back to where Gwen laid. He fell to his knees beside her, dropping his knife to the floor as he looked over her.

Her once put together gown was ripped up, the hem of it now stoping in a slanted angle at her mid thigh. There were some small torn parts where her torso was but what made Harry frown, were the bright red scratches on her arms. Some bled a little while the others were just screaming red. There was one distinctive scratch just below Gwen's collarbone that was bleeding much more than the others. It looked a little deep to Harry and he stared down at it worriedly, hoping it wasn't the kind of cut that would need expert medical attention.

"Are you hurting?" He asked her once he finished looking her over. He frowned down at her when he saw the tired look on her face and heard the way she was breathing. "I'm so sorry she did this, Gwen."

"It's alright. You saved me anyways." She gave him a small smile and he bit his lip, shaking his head down at her.

"I didn't, actually. We all heard you scream but I didn't know where it came from. Peter was already running to come for you when he shouted for me to go to the lake. He pulled Venus away from you."

At Harry's revelation, Gwen's tired eyes slid from him to Peter who was approaching them. He had caught the last of what Harry said and stopped behind him, pressing him lips together and stuffing his own knife back into the belt around his waist.

"Thank you, Peter." Gwen said wholeheartedly, smiling up at him as best as she could. He hated to admit it but he liked Gwen's smile. It reminded him of his older sister he barely remembers anymore, but just by seeing Gwen's grin it had given him a little piece of his memory back.

He shuffled his foot and shrugged. "I never liked her anyways. She was always a damn savage." He muttered and lightly shoved Harry's back. "I told you she was untrustworthy. Should have listened to me when I told you she looked at you like a piece of tuna."

Harry rolled his eyes and shook his head while Gwen tried to stifle a laugh but ended up in a coughing fit. Harry instantly began to fuss over her, petting her hair and moving to hold one of her hands. "Are you alright?"

"My throat just hurts." She told him once she calmed down and he nodded, eyes flickering to the bleeding scratches.

"Will, get me some water to clean her cuts." He called over his shoulder before moving her so she could rest her head in his lap. He gave her a small smile as he looked down at her but then looked up to see all the lost boys still surrounding them. "Go back to camp, thank you for standing by to help Gwen."

Gwen nodded and mumbled a quiet 'thank you' back. Some muttered 'you're welcome' while the rest just turned and left with out another word. She finally noticed Tristan, who had been standing at the other side of the lake with another group of boys. He was staring at Gwen worriedly but she sent him a smile in an attempt to assure him she was okay. He must have bought it because he smiled back before one of the boys ushered Tristan to follow the rest of them back to camp. He disappeared moments later and Will appeared with a bowl of water along with what looks like the end of Gwen's gown that had been ripped off. He hands them both to Harry before looking down at Gwen, eyes scanning her worriedly.

"I'm glad you're alright, Gwen." He said quietly and Gwen's eyes widened slightly at his words. She was shocked to say the least; she assumed all the boys had disliked her. Sure Will never really showed whether he did or not, she also had never really spoken to him so she assumed he didn't like her. Either way, she was happy to hear that he cared.

"Me too. Thank you, Will."

He nods then turns around, Earl following close behind him. Peter still stood behind Harry, looking over his shoulder as he poured the bowl of water over each cut. They were quiet as he worked but it wasn't until he got to the deeper cut near her collarbone, was the silence interrupted.

"We have honey back at camp. I suggest you put some on that cut. It looks a little deep." Peter said, crossing his arms over his chest. Harry paused, eyebrows pinching together before he pressed his lips in a line and looked over his shoulder to glance at Peter.

"Thanks mate. I'll do that." He said gratefully. Peter nodded and with out another word, walked back towards the trees before disappearing behind them. Harry stared after him in confusion but then turned back to Gwen with a sigh.

"I thought he hated me." Gwen said after a moment. Harry poured the water over the deep cut, watching as the blood mixing with water sped down over her skin and onto the floor.

"If I'm being honest, I thought so too." He shrugged and his gaze flickered up to meet hers. His mouth tugged into a smirk. "Maybe he's starting to like you just like I am."

Gwen's heart fluttered and she felt her mouth twitching into a grin. "I guess you've got competition then."

"Do I?" He asked teasingly, bending down until his lips were close to her ear. "You think a fourteen year old boy can make you feel the way I did last night?" He whispered and Gwen's cold body immediately warmed up. Goosebumps rose over her arms as Harry pulled back enough to look her in the eye.

"You're just a boy too." She pointed out quietly and Harry gave her a small smile.

"Maybe so, but I'm a bigger boy." He answered but there was a small part of him wondering if it was a man Gwen wanted. Harry despised the thought of becoming a man but for some reason, the thought of becoming one for Gwen, didn't seem so scary. He wanted to be whatever she wanted him to be.

"I don't know if that's true yet." She whispered, her eyes pointedly looking down to Harry's overalls. He bit down on his lip before placing the bowl down and cupping her face in his hands. He ran his thumbs over her cheeks, catching drops of water that still slid down her skin.

He bent his head until their foreheads were touching. "Someday you will, love."

He brushed his lips against hers before finally sealing his mouth over hers. He kissed her slowly and gently, lightly sucking the water on her lips off. It was just a short innocent kiss but it left Gwen's heart beating erratically all the same as he pulled back. His eyelashes fluttered open when their noses bumped, holding Gwen's gaze as he stared at her. His hands that still cupped her cheeks loosened slightly as he continued to run his thumbs over her skin.

"I like you, Gwenevieve." He bravely whispered to her, moving his hand to run his hand over her hair in a comforting motion. "Venus said you were changing me and maybe she's right, but I like who I'm becoming with you."

If it were any more possible, Gwen felt her heart beat faster as butterflies filled her stomach. Harry had just said the words she had been wondering early on in the day. He confirmed that whatever they had done last night, was not for nothing. It meant something to him. Just like it meant something to her.

"I like you too, Harry." She told him quietly and he grinned, dimple deepening in his cheek. She weakly raised her hand to run her finger over it and he caught her hand, kissing the inside of her palm once he did. She melted.

"Good. Now let's get you back to camp so we can put some honey on that cut."

"Okay." She said but held her hand out to stop him when he tried to pick her up. "Wait."

"What is it?"

She blushed deeply and silently cursed the mermaids for putting her in this predicament. "I think I've lost my knickers."
