The baby stayed in neonatal care for a day.

Aiden left the baby there and came back home.

When Hannah's parents came, expecting to see their healthy daughter and granddaughter, they found their daughter sleeping in a coffin and granddaughter nowhere to be seen.
"Aiden! How did this happen? When did this happen?"
"Aiden why didn't you tell us?" And they showered Aiden with their questions. Slowly, steadying himself, he told them everything. His hands still trembled and he still shivered as he recalled the whole scene in the delivery room.
After fifteen minutes, a broken father was sitting on the couch, a mother cried with her daughter in her arms and a husband was broken beyond repair.
"But where is the baby Aiden?" Hannah's father asked.
"I don't know. Nor do I want to know." He said spitefully.
"What do you mean?"
"It was taken in neonatal care. I haven't seen it since then."
"Aiden!" Hannah's mother shouted, "where is my granddaughter?"
"Still in hospital. I think."
"You think! You think! What kind of a father leaves his daughter in a hospital and comes back home? Aiden!" She shouted through a fresh batch of tears.
"The kind of father who became a widower because of his own child! I left that baby there because I don't want it in my house. It killed my wife. It is murderer!"
"Are you even listening to yourself? 'It'! You are referring your own daughter as 'it'! She is your daughter Aiden. Yours and Hannah's. And you have no right to leave her like that! You hear me! She is my granddaughter for lord's sake! Now get her back. "
"I won't. If you want it, you are welcome to take it. I don't even want to see its face again. It is a creature that killed me wife, nothing more for me. Now if you will excuse me, I need to be with my wife. Alone."
Hannah's parents looked at their son-in-law, their smart, intelligent son-in-law who was now talking like a deranged father. The whole sight was appalling. What had grief made him? It was all astonishing.
