Dings ~21
I woke up slowly, enjoying my half-conscious state. Someone poked my face, but I ignored it, laying still.
"I know you're awake, kiddo. It's time for breakfast." It was Sans. I smiled slowly, and sat up, opening my eyes.
"Heya Sans. G'mornin'." We sat at the table and everyone started on the eggs and ham.
"Thith ith great, thankth W'Dings." I said around a mouthful of food.
"What is it with you? You called me Dings last night, too!"
I swallowed, grinning. "I didn't call you Dings just now, I just had a mouthful of food. But, I think Sans is rubbing off on me." I giggled.
"Wait, when were you talking to G last night?" Ink spoke up.
"Oh, uhhhhh....... Nothing! It's nothing!" I quickly covered up.
Sans slowly raised an eyebrow. "...You're a bad liar. What's up?"
I sighed. "I don't want to worry you, but- the crack got a little bigger. Can we move on?"
I could see the worry in his eyes, but he relented. "As long as you're okay."
"Now!" I perked up. "Gaster, I've been wondering; how did you get that nickname? And why do you hate it so much?"
Gaster froze, staring at his plate. Now everyone was curious; even Papyrus. "Uh... Um....."
"Wait! Don't say anything!" He looked visibly relieved when Sans shouted. "I need to record this. This is a good story." He laughed, pulling out his phone. Gaster had betrayal written all over his face.
"Really Sans? Don't encourage them."
"PLEASE DAD? I WANT A STORY!"
"I dunno, this ruined my reputation. I couldn't show my face anywhere without getting laughed at." Gaster blushed in embarrassment.
"But back then you had a reputation as the Royal scientist. Now, you're just some guy that no one knows is alive."
He gave me a dead stare. "Thanks. That really boosts my morals."
"I'll tell it if you won't." Sans said.
"YES!" Papyrus and I shouted.
"Okay, so-"
"SHUT UP!"
"-one day, G and I were at the lab, working on CORE prototypes."
"You're not going to stop, are you?"
"When he turned away to sign some paper for an assistant, I put some pink goop into the intake valve. Pap and I had made it at school that day."
Gaster sighed. "I'll finish it. I returned to the work table, but as soon as I turned it on, it exploded in pink slime. The assistant saw the whole thing, and word spread like a wildfire. I locked myself in my office, but Sans got hungry. Being a small child, he couldn't last more than a couple hours. All the way home, Sans wouldn't shut up."
"Dings! Dings! Dings!" Sans squeaked in a high-pitched voice. Gaster groaned.
"I was embarrassed! The proud Royal scientist, covered in pink slime with their loud son. And because I waited so long to wash it off, it stained my bones. I was stained pink for months, and everyone called me 'Dings'."
"And I didn't have any more goop to play with." Sans added sadly.
"That is one of the best stories I have ever heard." I chuckled.
"TELL IT AGAIN!!" Papyrus and Ink cheered.
"Ugh..." Gaster moaned, covering his head with his hands.
"Aaand, send." Sans said. "Undyne and Alphys have already watched the whole thing and are probably on their way over."
"What!?" Gaster shouted.
Then the door slammed in, Undyne having kicked it open. "Is this for real?" She ran inside, Alphys on her shoulders. "This had better be for real! We interrupted our anime marathon right at the good part for this."
"It's totally true, and we support him a anyway, right guys?" I hugged Gaster, trying to be the good guy.
"Thank you, Y/n." Gaster nodded approval. "As for you Sans... You're just like me it's kinda sad."
"Heh, I like to think it comes in handy!" Sans and Gaster burst out laughing, and the rest of us stood awkwardly.
"What?"
"Oh. Hehe, ya see... Ya know how I told you he's kind of our creator?" I nodded, and everyone else went with it. "Well, for physical material, he used his hands." Gaster lifted up his hands, showing the two holes in the center.
"Oohhhhh, that's what that was from!"
"Sans, that is so COOL! Why did you never tell us before!?" Undyne moved to noogie him, but he teleported away.
"It wasn't relevant before, because it hadn't happened. Now that Gaster exists again, I can be a part of him." Sans shrugged.
".....I DON'T UNDERSTAND." Papyrus was making an adorable thinking face, and I couldn't help giggling.
"Then don't worry about it. You'll get it when you're older." Ink patted his shoulder.
I laughed, but quickly stopped.
"Y/n? You okay?"
I tried to cover it up, but it clearly didn't work. Sans rushed over to me.
"Y/n, if it's your soul, you need to stop covering it up. Just let me help you." Sans practically begged.
"I-I'm fine. Besides, there's nothing we can do about it."
