Confrontation ~8
Sans' POV
I woke up and stumbled down the stairs, expecting to smell Papyrus' breakfast spaghetti cooking. Instead, I was greeted with a pleasant, sweet smell.
"What's cookin'?" I found everyone in the kitchen; Papyrus and Frisk sitting at the table, and Gaster cooking? "What's this? Since when did you cook?"
"Oh, this? I found that my scientific background helps me find the perfect proportion of ingredients in cooking!" He hummed a little tune and turned back to his pan.
"Huh." Gaster has changed a lot since before. I thought as I sat at the table. I glanced at Frisk, and noticed dark lines under her eyes. "Kiddo, what's with your eyes?" I rubbed my thumb under her eye.
"Wha-? Oh, I didn't sleep well last night, after, uh, things. So I probably have dark circles under my eyes. I guess that's just something humans do." She shrugged, and rested her head in her arms on the table.
Glad skeletons don't do that. My eyes would be totally dark. Oh wait, they already are. I glanced at Gaster, who was putting pancakes on a big plate, with a pained look, occasionally glancing at Frisk. Clearly he's changed, and just wants Frisk to trust him. Poor guy.
"Breakfast is ready!" He smiled and brought the plate to the table.
~Quick time Skip~
"That was good, thanks G! Imma head out." I stood up, stretching.
"Wait! Sans, may I speak with you outside?" Gaster stood up quickly.
"Uhh... Suure..." I stepped out front suspiciously. He shut the door behind us, grinning. "What's got your bones in a rattle?"
He sighed, smiling like crazy. I'd never seen him grin like that before. "Do you like Frisk?"
"W-What!?" I exclaimed. I felt blush spreading across my skull. Did I like Frisk? I always felt weird around her, but I figured it was because I'd never met a human before.
He laughed. "You do! That's so cute! It's like Romeo and Juliet! Forbidden love, a monster and a human.~" He hugged me, laughing like crazy.
"N-No I don't, you numb skull!" I shoved him off of me. "What's with you? You never cared about anything but science before, not even the lives of innocent monsters."
His face fell. "I- I know. I spent a lot of time thinking in the void, and I realized I was a terrible father. I'm so sorry for how I acted." He began to tear up.
"Aw, c'mon, you were a fine father! You just didn't make the best choices sometimes. I know you've changed, Dings." I patted his back, but he didn't react.
"After all these years... YOU STILL CALL ME THAT!!?"
I fell in the snow, laughing my metaphorical guts out. He just sighed.
"Let's make a deal, alright?"
"What kinda deal?"
"You stop calling me Dings, and help Frisk trust me again, and I will help you go on a date with Frisk." He held out his hand, and on instinct, I took it.
I instantly pulled my hand back. "No! I don't need or want your help! I don't have a crush on Frisk!"
"Too late, you already shook! Hahaha!" He ran inside.
I shook my head, chuckling softly. "You're such a child now." And followed him in.
Your POV
When Gaster and Sans went outside, I threw away my pancakes. I felt bad, but I was a little cautious about Gaster. I felt a lot better after Sans comforted me last night, but it felt like he wasn't telling me something I should know.
"WHY DID YOU THOW AWAY DAD'S PANCAKES? THEY WERE DELICIOUS!" Papyrus had already accepted Gaster as his father, and already loved him very much.
"I- I wasn't hungry." I lied. "I think I'm gonna go on a walk. See you later." I went out the back door, knowing Gaster and Sans were out front. I strolled through Snowdin, watching the monsters going about their business. Eventually, I found myself in a wet, cool place. I wandered for a while, until I came across someone I almost forgot about.
"Punk! I told you the next time I saw you, you were mine! Here we are! Ngaaahh!" A glowing blue spear appeared in her hand, and she charged at me.
"Aaaaa!" I threw my arms up in defense, and there was a huge bang. I looked up and Undyne was on the ground, her spear thrown across the cavern. Oh yeah. I have magic now!
"Wha- Are you even human?" She stared at me.
"Y-Yeah. It's a long story that I don't feel like telling you, since you just tried to murder me!" I cried.
"And I still am!" She sprung up, spear magically returning to her hand. She was already kinda close to me, and I couldn't react fast enough. I thought I was a goner, but the final blow never came.
"Wha-?" I saw a black coat, and realized Gaster had stepped in between us and stopped Undyne.
"Madam, please. If you don't stop, I will need to forcibly stop you myself." Gaster said sternly.
"And who do you think you are?"
"Does it matter? You are trying to hurt my friend."
"Tch. Whatever. I'll just go get the Royal guard to back me up. You can't beat all of us!"
"I wouldn't do that if I were you, gill-girl." Sans appeared next to Gaster, eye glowing.
"Wha- I can't believe you guys are siding with the enemy of all our hopes and dreams!"
"If you don't wanna be sushi in five minutes, I suggest you make friends with Frisk."
"Ngaahhhh... Fine. But don't expect us to be best pals or anything." She huffed.
"Nah, I didn't expect you to. You couldn't be friends with her anyway." Sans shrugged and took my hand, ready to go home.
"W-Wait! I can be friends with a lame human any day! I'm coming over tomorrow." And with that, she stomped off.
I released the breath I had been holding. "Thank you Sans. And- Thank you Gaster." I said bashfully. I had avoided him all morning, because of the nightmare I had, and now I felt terrible.
"It's quite alright. How about we head home?"
I nodded, and walked between the two skeletons all the way home.
Love you, my little stars!
