8: Three Months Later

It had been three and a half months since Pitch threatened Elsa with hurting Anna. It was now the middle of December--eight days until Christmas to be exact--which meant that Jack has been flying back and forth between Arendelle and other places in order to bring winter to the Northern hemisphere.

Pitch sent nightmares here once every week or so to try and scare them, but they defeated them easily every time. Sometimes Jack felt like it was too easy to kill the nightmares. It seemed almost as if they are being lead into a trap.

they hadn't found traces of Pitch anywhere. None of the guardians were able to help them because they were either preparing for their holidays, collecting teeth, or sending dreams. But when he wasn't painting eggs the warren, Kangaroo helped to track Pitch down a little bit. His holiday was farther away than North's, after all.

Jack sat on the window seat in Elsa's bedroom, watching her and Anna sleep. He knew strange, but he had to make sure Pitch didn't give them nightmares.

Both Anna and Elsa had been getting nightmares for the past months. Kristoff was starting to get really worried, and so was Jack. But Kristoff was also getting sleep deprived so last night Jack promised him that he would watch them at night so he could sleep. Anna was laying in Elsa's bed with her and Kristoff was sleeping on some blankets on the floor. He refused to stay anywhere else, so here they are, the four of them in this room, three of which were sleeping.

Jack thought about how he and Elsa had gotten close these past few months along, with Hiccup and Merida. He didn't know exactly what was going on with Hiccup and Merida, one second they're laughing and the next they were arguing about something irrational. However, he did know that whenever Elsa wasn't signing treaties or having diplomatic meetings, she was spending her time with the four of them and Anna.

She and Jack, well usually Jack, started snowball fights in the ballroom, and eventually all the palace occupants would be playing in the snow.

Elsa always lost herself when they had fun, and her smile seemed to glow brighter. She was beautiful no matter what, but it wass in those moments, when she forgot all of the pain she had been through, that her true beauty and innocence shine the brightest. And it usually happened to be in that magnificent smile of hers.

Jack's thoughts were interrupted when Elsa thrashed around. She shot ice at the mirror across the room and it shattered, "Ja--Anna--No!" She screamed. She jolted awake and he rushed to her side.

Anna and Kristoff surprisingly didn't wake up with all the noise.

Elsa's hair was falling out of its usual braid and her baby blue nightgown was crumpled.

Elsa tried to back away but she realized that he wasn't going to hurt her. She hugged him, "Pitch, Anna, everyone..." She cried on his shoulder. He didn't know what he was supposed to do so he hugged her back, pulling her closer to him.

"Shhh... What was it about?" He asked calmly once she calmed down.

She took a deep breath, “Pitch, he kidnapped Anna. The five of us, and Kristoff tried to go save her but..." Her breath hitched, "We were too late." Elsa broke down crying and hugged him tighter.

He held her close to him, gently stroking her hair. He waited a few minutes to talk to her again. "Elsa we won't let anything happen to Anna. You have to know that, right?"

It took a while for her to respond but Jack thought he could feel her smiling, "Yes. Thank you, Jack." She pulled away and her beautiful blue eyes were staring at him.

Another thought crossed his mind. It probably wouldn't help but it was worth a try. "Do you think you'll be able to fall back asleep?" He inquired.

Elsa shook her head, "No. there's no way I'll be able to go to sleep after that."

Jack smiled, "Then let's go have some fun instead." Before she could protest, he picked her up in his arms and flew down towards the ballroom.

"Jack!" Elsa yelled. Her arms wrapped around his neck, and she buried her head in his shoulder.

"I won't drop you," He laughed, then turned serious. He looked into her icy eyes again, "I promise that I will never let anything bad happen to you Elsa."

Elsa stared at him as they came to a stop in front of the ballroom doors. He placed her feet gently on the ground but her arms stayed around his neck. "Thank you, Jack," she hugged me, yet again, then pulled away and smiled, "Now let's go have some fun!"

She opened the ballroom doors and they stepped inside. Elsa rushed to the middle of the room and smirked at me. She stomped her foot on the floor and a sheet of ice spread across the ground. Next she waved her hands and it started snowing.

"I wanted to do that!" Jack complained. He wasn't really upset, he just wanted a reason to say something. She glided over to him, grabbing mhisy staff. "Hey, I need that!" He followed her as she slowly backed away.

Elsa giggled. She tossed the staff to the corner of the room and taunted him, "If Jack Frost wants his staff he's going to have to skate with the Queen of Arendelle." She held out her right hand.

"Why not, your Majesty?" Jack took both of her hands and they stopped on the ice. They started skating around the ballroom. What felt like hours went by. They discussed anything, everything, and the most random of things.

Elsa yawned. "Is Queen Elsa, of Arendelle, getting tired?" Jack teased.

"Yes," Elsa gave in easily. Her skating had also been slowing down a lot in the last ten minutes.

He tripped them on purpose and they fell onto a pile of snow. "Jack!" She attempted to scold him but soon yawned again.

"Get some sleep, Snowflake. You  need it."

Elsa didn't say much more after that. She rested her head on his shoulder and wrapped her arms around his waist. Jack drew her closer to him, putting his arms around her shoulders. She soon fell asleep. He kissed her cheek, "Goodnight, Elsa. Sweet dreams."

Elsa's eyes fluttered open, "Were we in here all night?" She asked sleepily. She sat up and looked around the snow covered ballroom.

Jack laughed lightly, "Yes we were. Did you know that you talk in your sleep?" He was floating on his staff above her.

Elsa gasped, "Oh, no! What did I say? Was it bad?" She pulled on the collar of his shirt to make him face her. He thought about last night how Elsa said his name, several times, and there were a few other interesting things. She said she loved him. "Jack, what did I say?"

"My name," he answered simply, "several times." He left out her saying that she loved him. Mainly because it could never happen... she's mortal, he kept telling himself.

Before Elsa could question him further, Anna burst into the ballroom, "There you two are! We were all worried that something happened to you!" Kristoff, Merida, Rapunzel, and Hiccup followed behind.

Anna hugged Elsa.

"Do you think I would let anything happen to the queen?" Jack joked.

"We all know tha', Jack. Yoou're veery... protective," Merida rolled her eyes.

"What?"

What the hell is she talking about?

"Elsa you promised that we could go for a walk in the village today! Can we go now pleeeeease?" Anna begged.

Elsa sighed, "I don't think that's a good idea, Anna. Pitch is still out there, and we have no idea where he is. And--"

"Please?" Anna interrupted.

"Enough, Anna."

But she continued, despite Elsa's warning. "Please you promised that we would never close the gates again, But you did! So please just let me do this! What are you so afraid of?"

Elsa lost her temper and shouted, "You know what I'm afraid of! I'm afraid of you getting hurt! By me, by Pitch, even by Kristoff!" She pointed at Kristoff who looked confused and hurt by Elsa's words, "I don't want you getting hurt, Anna!" It started to snow in the ballroom... Jack knew he wasn't doing it so it must have been Elsa.

"I'm not going to get hurt by going for a walk through the village!" Anna screamed.

The storm was swirling around Elsa, "You don't know that, Anna! Pitch could be in the castle right now! But we don't know that because we don't know where he is! We--" Jack put his hand on Elsa's shoulder, the storm immediately pausing. She jerked around to face him, anger, hurt, and confusion evident in her voice, "What, Jack? What do you want?" Elsa asked, more annoyed than anything.

He leaned closer to her and lower his voice so that only she could hear him, "Can I talk to you in the hallway... just for a minute?" She stared at me but nodded in agreement. "We'll be right back," Jack told the others.

He and Elsa walked out of the room and he shut the door. "What is this about, Jack?"

"Close your eyes."

"What?"

He sighed, "Just do it." Elsa did as he said and closed her eyes. "Take a deep breath in," She breathed in, "Now let it go," and she did. He stepped right in front of her--their faces inches apart. "Pitch already told us your fears, and you told us how they started... Elsa I want you to try and forget all of the pain you've been through."

Elsa's eyes stay closed, "What does this have to do with Anna and the village?"

"You'll understand in a minute, I promise. The pain that you have been holding onto is clouding your judgement--"

She opened her eyes, staring at Jack angrily. "No it hasn't," Elsa protested stubbornly.

"Don't deny it because you know it's true. As I was saying--wait, close your eyes again."

Elsa hesitantly closed her eyes.

The usually 'fun' me is about to turn very serious... what's happening to me?

"Your pain clouds your judgment, Elsa. I know it's hard for you to think that you, or anyone else for that matter, won't hurt her. But Anna's an adult. She can make her own decisions... So Elsa, get rid of your pain, let Anna make her owns choices, and--most importantly-- live your life without fear and regrets. Try to have some fun because it won't last forever."

After being in the village for several hours, they headed back towards the palace. Elsa, Anna, and Kristoff were leading to way as Rapunzel, Hiccup, Merida, and Jack followed them. Merida and Hiccup were arguing about what was more useful: books or a bow. Rapunzel awkwardly tagged along, which was kind of what Jack was doing too. Elsa left Kristoff and Anna as she turned around and walked next to Jack.

"I want to thank you for what you said to me earlier. I really needed that; someone to tell me, tell me to forget." They stopped, facing each other. Elsa smiled, "Thank you, Jack."

"It was--" He was cut off by someone shouting.

"Anna!" Kristoff yelled. They looked ahead of then to see Pitch holding Anna by her neck above the ground. Kristoff and the others were surrounded by nightmares, unable to do anything.

Elsa didn't even try to hide her anger, "Put her down, Pitch!" She demanded. Her small figure stormed over to him with her hands raised, ready to strike. Jack came behind her with my staff ready.

Pitch grinned, "Oh, alright..." He let go of his grip around Anna's throat and she fell to the ground. Elsa and Jack ran to her. "I'll just take a couple other friends," Pitch shrugged, disappearing into a shadow.

Elsa panicked, "Anna? Anna, are you okay?"

"I'm fine..." Elsa sighed in relief, "Elsa, where is Kristoff?" Anna asked innocently

Elsa and Jack looked to where Kristoff was surrounded by nightmares just a few seconds ago. He and the nightmares weren't there. But Kristoff wasn't  the only person gone... a certain girl with long blonde hair was missing from the crowd as well.

Hello Guardians!

Sorry it took so long to update, but this chapter took a really long time to write... because it's so long! Hope you like it! I know you all thought that Anna was going to be the one to get kidnapped, but I felt like that has been done WAY to often. So Kristoff and Rapunzel were taken... I'm evil, I know. The vote for Merricup vs Hiccstrid is on in the comments until the end of this book. TALLY SO FAR: Merricup9--Hiccstrid 5. Remember that I might not actually care about your opinion due to the fact that it might mess up my plot for the third book. Sorry ;D And please read the book called "New Story Options" in my works to vote for what story I write next.
