Chapter 1
Nodus Tollens
The realization that the plot of your life doesn't make sense to you anymore—that although you thought you were following the arc of the story, you keep finding yourself immersed in passages you don't understand, that don't even seem to belong in the same genre...
(Genos POV)
My world wasn't always like this... no infected lumbering around the streets waiting for their next meal, no looking over you shoulder every ten seconds. No, my world was bright and colourful I had a brother and parents and friends.
My best friend reaper... you know what never mind their gone now. I have to keep thinking forward not behind I can't help but wonder if he escaped down like he said he would. And what would have happened if I went with him instead?
I could feel a over bearing sadness wherever he is I hope he is okay, I hope Ink and all my other friends are alright too.
Sighing I dropped the pen on to the note book, why was I even writing it again? Oh yeah I wanted proof that I was still alive or somthing I don't know what some dilemma I had at the time.
Shutting it I stuffed it in to my backpack and got up, enough hiding in this smelly abandoned gas satiation time to face the-
Right as I was about to think of it one lunged at me as soon as the door was open. Their melted face was pulled in a snear as it grabbed at me, shoving it hard I took my bat and swung it as hard as could before making a sprint for it.
I didn't like killing them, Their was still a monster in their. Somewhere, and if their ever is a cure we could help them, all thought it'll be hard to get over a hit like that.
I thought to my self running along the cracked highway road, my foot steps beating against it echoed slightly as the Skelton's of old abandoned cars where left settled on the roads like big sleeping animals waiting and watching.
The cars made me uneasy Mostly cause the infected would Wait in them and try and rip you to pieces if you got a bit to close that's why I kept my guard up.
All though I wondered if anyone non infected was waiting in them to scared to come out so they hide, I mean I miss seeing and talking to other people but last girl cut one of my eye sockets and was about to do the same to the other, luckily I had got away.
That's why I can't trust anyone, finally skidding to a Hault I panted heavily, I had ran for a while so far I hadn't even realized I was entering a city, or what was left of it.
Feeling a sharp breeze blow past me rustling a few news papers. Is this the end??? Stay in your homes, abandoned those who start coughing
Type headlines where printed on the fronts, walking down a street I also saw the end of times written on the sides of buildings, but I think that's a bit cliche, it like in every end of the world movie giving a small smile I continued to walk seeing as their was no other thing to do.
(Reapers POV)
Shoving my knife through another infected I grimaced, pulling my knife back Cleaning away the goop hastily, just because I never got infected dosent mean I can't still get it. "Ugh" putting it back in its holder I adjusted the strap of my bag, the city wasn't to extravangt like I've seen before but it had some sights, like a huge marble building that I assume was city hall.
I'm not sure why I was asked to go here and survey the area, obviously their would be no survivors this was one of the first city's to get hit hard by it.
All though I felt a bit uneasy, usually their would be infected around, like I was expecting a few hundred but this, well this was just a ghost town.
The only thing showing that their Was monster and human life once was the city it's self. Continuing my trek I heard the sounds of crows and ravens not the monster type but the animal type, they watched from the tops of buildings waiting for a few scraps, or a meal.
Ignoring the thought I pushed it aside and tried to think of more pleasant things all though Their was hardly any.
I'm alone all my friends and family are dead but I do have the camp, all though they are less then friendly. Out of all the people I could get stuck with Iam with the most abstract bunch their could be.
Wait, stopping I listened. Was I crazy or...? No. Their was footsteps, turning I scanned the wide street, the footsteps continued.
They where to light and brisk for a infected, taking out my knife I heard the footsteps grow closer, running to a car I crouched hiding, finally the culprit of the footsteps cake around the corner. They wore a dirty white jacket and a bloody bandage over their eye, a bat with nails in it was on a string and tied on their back, they had a book bag that possibly could have so good resources if I can take it.
But the thing that caught me off guard was the red scarf, where had I seen that before? Why is it so familiar to me..? I felt like I was about to come across the resolution to this thought when a infected launched out the car, letting out a yelp it pinned me.
Unprepared my knife flew out my hand skidding across the asphalt before stopping at the Skelton's feet who seemed startled.
Using every ounce of strength within me I tried to fend it off, his pointed teeth and melting body had me pinned between the hard ground.
Will this stranger help me or leave me to die? Who am I kidding it's everyone for them self. No way their- the thing let out a cut off cry and it was knocked off of me with a bat.
"Get up!" Blinking in confusion I was baffled but he wasn't having any of my hesitance and pulled me up with surprising strength and started tugging me along with him.
Just in time too cause the blasted thing recovered and was now on our heels. It's jagged breaths and scratchy cry's where so loud Their was no way we would out run this thing with out tricking it.
Finally coming to my senses I took the lead tugging him along, "turn right" I said making a sharp time hopping he heard me or else he could end up falling.
He heard me thankfully and turned as well only stumbling slightly, spotting a ladder attached to a building I headed towards that shoving him forward.
Quickly he went up it and I scrambled after him my bones screaming for a rest, when I got to the top I sprawled on the Roof.
Letting out a shakey laugh from how much Adrenalin I felt I glanced at my rescuer now getting a better look at him, this really can't be my life right now could it?
He was bent over trying to catch his breath clearly exhausted from running for our lives
I chuckled again shutting my eyes briefly before opening them "my names Reaper. by the way."
