Ch. 9 Waking up to the real world

Elizabeth wakes up from her slumber and opens her eyes. She winced when she saw the intense lighting.

" Ugh. Too bright," She murmured.

" Lucy, Dear. Can you dim the lights for me, please?" She heard an older feminine voice speak.

" Yes, Dr. Plummer!" She heard her younger sister respond and footsteps running.

' Lucy?' She internally says.

Her eyes blinked when she saw the lights getting dimmed, revealing a familiar bedroom.

' This is my bedroom in Professor Kirke's home. I remember being in Narnia?' She sounded disappointed and looked at her surroundings.

She turned to the left and saw a handsome man with shoulder-length pale blonde hair and Lion-like golden eyes, wearing clothing suitable for royalty leaning against the wall and staring at her.

She held her breath, looking at him with mixed emotions since he was looking at him with such intensity.

' Who is he? And why do I feel like I know him?' She internally asked.

" Lizzie!" She heard her youngest sister shout, causing her to look away from him.

" You're okay!" Lucy runs and hugs her eldest sister.

" What happened?" Elizabeth asked while hugging her youngest sister.

" Do you remember what happened?" An older feminine voice asked, causing Elizabeth to look and see an older woman with blonde-silver hair and blue eyes, wearing a Doctor's attire, standing beside Professor Kirke.

Elizabeth bit her inner cheek, afraid she would get judged if she told them the truth.

" No one is going to judge you," She heard a deep velvety masculine voice say.

She glanced to the left and saw the mysterious man still looking at her. She couldn't pinpoint his actual emotions since he was looking at her with a blank stare.

" After putting my siblings to bed, I was heading back to my bedroom when I heard a mysterious voice calling out to me. Curiosity got the best of me, and I followed the sound to a door that led me to the Wardrobe you told me about, Professor Kirke," She says while looking at Professor Kirke.

Aslan heard what Elizabeth said and glanced at Professor Kirke, wondering why his old friend told her about the Wardrobe.

Professor Kirke nodded, looking at Elizabeth curiously. He wanted to know about her experience being in Narnia for the first time.

Lucy made herself comfortable in Elizabeth's embrace, intrigued when she heard her eldest sister talk about her first time going to Narnia.

Polly went to get a glass of water for Elizabeth since she figured she'd get thirsty after talking a lot.

" I walked towards the Wardrobe and heard that voice from earlier saying my name. I opened the door, and something in my gut told me to enter and walk forward, which I did," Elizabeth takes the glass of water from the older female's grasp.

" Thank you, Dr. Plummer," She smiled when she remembered Lucy calling the older female that.

Polly nodded and went to stand beside Professor Kirke.

Elizabeth takes a sip of water and continues speaking.

" I noticed that the pathway went deeper and deeper. I felt my whole body shivering. The temperature changed from warmth to cold. I grabbed a Winter coat and walked through some trees, where I saw a lamppost in front of me," She described the lamppost to everyone in the bedroom.

Professor Kirke and Aslan looked at one another knowingly.

" I befriended a Weasel named Bodhi and a Faun named Tumnus," Elizabeth gasped, remembering what happened to her new friends, Bodhi and Tumnus.

" I got to go back to Narnia!" She lets go of her youngest sister, hands the glass of water to her, and gets out of bed.

Her eyes widened when she felt her whole body shut down, causing her to fall.

" Lizzie!" Lucy watched her eldest sister fall.

Aslan steps away from the wall and holds his arms to Elizabeth, feeling her body fall against his. He wraps his arms around her, holding her close.

" Steady now," He looks at Elizabeth worryingly.

Elizabeth's hands tightly grasped his shoulders and looked at him warily.

" My friends. Bodhi. Tumnus. They need help. They will die because of me," Tears rose in her eyes.

" Bodhi and Tumnus are safe," Aslan reassured.

Elizabeth's watery eyes intently stared at Aslan's lion-like eyes.

" Who are you?" She whispered.

" My name is Aslan," Aslan introduced himself.

Elizabeth's eyebrow rose, and her eyes widened when she heard the familiar name from Professor Kirke's story.

" I'm Elizabeth," She introduced herself.

Aslan nodded.

" My loyal followers were able to save Bodhi and Tumnus," He declared.

Elizabeth nodded, looking relieved.

" Why do I feel so weak?" She mumbled while laying her head against Aslan's shoulder.

" Your Adrenaline Rush has died down, My Dear," Polly responded.

" You did run so much after those wolves chased you. And you also jump off a snowy hill," Aslan reminded.

Elizabeth blushed, looking embarrassed.

Aslan gently touched her back with his right hand and adjusted her to sit on his lap. He then places his left hand underneath her legs and stands up, holding her like a Princess.

Elizabeth wraps her arms around Aslan's neck, getting bashful since her youngest sister looks at her and Aslan in awe.

Aslan watched Lucy scoot to the side so that he could put Elizabeth on the bed.

" You need to take it easy, Elizabeth," Polly looks at Elizabeth.

" I agree. Your health is important," Aslan leans back and steps away.

" Bodhi and Tumnus must hate me for leaving them behind and letting them fight against the Evil White Witch's men," Elizabeth mumbled.

Polly got tensed at the mention of the White Witch. She glanced at Professor Kirke, who mouthed out to her that they would talk at a later time.

" They don't hate you, Elizabeth. They would want you to rest and regain your strength," Aslan looked at Elizabeth.

Elizabeth lay on the bed, feeling tired and hungry.

" I'm so hungry," She mumbled.

Aslan looks at Polly and Professor Kirke.

" I'll have Mrs. McGradey get you something to eat," Professor Kirke excused himself and left the room.

" That woman still works for you," Polly muttered, not liking Mrs. McGradey.

" Elizabeth, Dear. As your Doctor, I suggest you eat and then rest to regain your strength," She looks at Elizabeth.

Elizabeth nodded.

Aslan stared at Elizabeth, relieved.

' Take a long rest as you need, Elizabeth. That way, Jedis would forget about you and leave you alone,' He internally speaks.

" Lucy," Aslan looks at Lucy.

" Yes!" Lucy smiled.

" Can you show me around?" Aslan asked.

" I can!" Lucy nodded and grabbed Aslan's hand as the two left the bedroom.

The two walked around the Manor, not letting anyone see them.

" Lucy. I want you to do something for me," Aslan looks at Lucy as they walk back and stand beside the door that leads to the Wardrobe.

" What is it?" Lucy stared.

" Take good care of your sister for me, okay," Aslan smiled. " She means alot to me," He whispered.

Lucy's eyes sparkled, and she nodded.

" Since you are the Emperor of Narnia and Lizzie means alot to you. Does that mean she'll be your Empress?" She asked, looking at him innocently.

Lucy's question took Aslan by surprise.

Aslan glanced at the closed door where Elizabeth rested after eating breakfast.

" After the Snow melts and the White Witch gets defeated," He responded to Lucy's question.

He stands and opens the door to the room. Lucy stands behind him, and her eyes widen when she sees the Wardrobe.

" I hope to see you and your siblings soon, Lucy. And if one of your siblings does not believe you and Elizabeth. Tell them to meet me in person," He smiled at Lucy and walked towards the Wardrobe.

Lucy watched Aslan enter the Wardrobe, and her eyes blinked when she saw the Wardrobe's door closed. A faint light appeared underneath the crack of the Wardrobe, letting her know that the Emperor got transported from her world to Narnia.
