Ch. 12 Singing a Narniaian Lullaby
" We must get going. We are still in danger from the White Witch and her followers." Bodhi says in Lucy's embrace.
" Sir Bodhi is right. Let us get going to my home." Tumnus holds his arm out to Elizabeth, who accepts, and she starts to walk with him.
Lucy carried Bodhi in her arms and followed the two young adults. She looked at her surroundings, admiring the wintery forest. However, she was curious to know how everything looked when the snow melted after the White Witch's defeat.
" Tell me. How is Aslan and his followers doing?" Elizabeth asked while looking at her surroundings warily.
" They have been out and about, fighting against the White Witch and her followers," Tumnus responded while looking at his surroundings cautiously.
A few minutes later, the group arrived at Tumnus's home. Lucy smiled when she saw that Tumnus lived in a cave with a door.
Tumnus unlocked the house and motioned everyone to get inside. He was the last to enter as he looked at his surroundings before closing and locking the door.
Lucy puts Bodhi down, looking at her surroundings in awe. She couldn't help but be excited about being inside a faun's house.
" So cute! It has such a warm and friendly atmosphere." She says while walking around the house.
Elizabeth and Bodhi went to sit on the couches and smiled, watching Lucy explore.
Tumnus turned to look at the others and smiled. His gaze softened when he saw Lucy look at everything with curiosity and innocence.
" I shall make us tea. Make yourselves at home." He looks away and walks towards the kitchen.
" I cannot believe a month has passed here while it has been a week in my world since I last came here." Elizabeth looks at Bodhi.
" The times in our worlds are different because we are from two different universes," Bodhi says.
Elizabeth looked at Bodhi with mixed emotions. She then remembered Professor Kirke telling her that Narnia is from a different world than theirs.
" Still need to adjust to the fact that we are from two different worlds." She says.
" When Aslan returned to our world after dropping you off, his aura changed." Bodhi looks at Elizabeth.
" What do you mean by changed?" Elizabeth asked.
" He seemed more than ever to defeat the White Witch," Bodhi responded.
" And I am going to help him!" Lucy says, turning to look at her eldest sister and Bodhi.
" How are you going to help him, Lu?" Elizabeth playfully stared at her youngest sister.
" He says that when the White Witch gets defeated, the snow will melt, and he will rule Narnia with his Pure Heart. And for that to happen, I must ensure that Pure Heart stays happy and safe." Lucy smiled while looking at her eldest sister with a knowing stare.
Elizabeth looked at her youngest sister with a confused gaze.
' The Pure Heart will rule Narnia by Aslan's side?' She internally says. ' What is Lu talking about?' She asked, looking concerned.
" I got us tea." Tumnus interrupted Elizabeth's train of thought by walking towards the living room from the kitchen and setting the tea and snacks up at the small rectangular table.
" Thank you!" Lucy smiled at Tumnus, grabbing the cup of tea and taking a sip. " It's so warm and yummy." She complimented.
" Thank you, Young Lady Pevensive." Tumnus smiled.
" You may call me Lucy. Mr. Tumnus." Lucy looked at Tumnus.
" Then you can call me Tumnus, Lucy," Tumnus says.
" Okay!" Lucy nodded.
Elizabeth grabs the cup of tea and takes a sip. Her gaze softened when she saw her youngest sister interact with her new Narnian friends, Tumnus and Bodhi.
After everyone ate snacks and drank tea, Lucy was getting tired. She was sitting on the couch with her eldest sister, snuggling against her.
Elizabeth fondly stared at her youngest sister. Her hands delicately brushed her sister's hair.
" I'm so sleepy," Lucy mutters.
" Would you like me to play a lullaby with my flute?" Tumnus asked.
Lucy looked at Tumnus and smiled.
" Oh! Oh! Lizzie, you should sing while Tumnus plays with his flute." She looks at her eldest sister.
" You sing?" Tumnus and Bodhi look at Elizabeth.
Elizabeth blushes, getting embarrassed.
" I do know how to sing. It's more like a hobby." She says.
" Her voice is so beautiful and angelic." Lucy praised.
" Shouldn't you be resting by now?" Elizabeth asked, looking at her youngest sister amusingly.
" You know I can't sleep without you singing to me." Lucy looked at her eldest sister with puppy dog eyes.
Elizabeth sighed, caving in.
" Is there a song Narniaian sings that is considered a lullaby?" She asked, looking at Tumnus and Bodhi.
" Yes. There is a lullaby that Narniaian sings. Once I play the melody, you will be able to understand the lyrics to the lullaby." Tumnus says as he grabs a wooden flute and plays a sweet lullaby.
Elizabeth's whole body shivered when she heard the melody of the sweet lullaby. It's like the music consumed her. She could understand the foreign language, which somehow translated to English. She closed her eyes and started to hum along with Tumnus' flute.
Mordred's Lullaby by Heather Dale:
" Hush, child, the darkness will rise from the deep and carry you down into sleep." Elizabeth started to sing.
Lucy grabbed her eldest sister's hand as she laid her head against her sister's shoulder.
" Child, the darkness will rise from the deep and carry you down into sleep." Elizabeth sang.
In Narnian Wintery Forest, Aslan's men fought against the White Witch's Followers.
" Guileless son, I'll shape your belief, and you'll always know that your father's a thief-" Elizabeth's voice was singing in the background as Aslan and the White Witch stared at one another from the opposite sides of the battlefield.
"-And you won't understand the cause of your grief, but you'll always follow the voices beneath." Aslan started running, his hand tightly grasping a sword with a lion's head below.
The White Witch's mouth shouted as her followers started to run towards Aslan.
" Loyalty, Loyalty, Loyalty, Loyalty, Loyalty, Loyalty to me." To the left and right, Aslan's men blocked the White Witch's followers' attack from striking Aslan.
Aslan's golden lion-like eyes intently stared at the White Witch.
The White Witch held her staff tightly and slammed it as ice spears headed toward him.
Aslan cut the ice spears with his sword when it was close to striking his heart.
" Guileless son, your spirit will hate her, the flower who married my brother the traitor, and you will expose his puppeteer behavior, for you are proof of how he betrayed her loyalty." A minotaur threw a massive axe in Aslan's direction.
Aslan sensed the danger to his left and ducks, watching the massive axe fly past him.
"Loyalty, Loyalty, Loyalty, Loyalty, Loyalty, Loyalty only to me." Aslan watched his dear friend, Oreius, fight against the minotaur that threw the massive axe at him.
" Hush, child, the darkness will rise from the deep and carry you down into sleep." Aslan turned and saw that the White Witch had disappeared, which made him furious.
" Child, the darkness will rise from the deep and carry you down into sleep." Elizabeth looked and saw that Lucy had fallen asleep.
" Loyalty, Loyalty, Loyalty, Loyalty, Loyalty only to me." Tumnus looked at Elizabeth while playing the flute.
Bodhi also stared at Elizabeth, admiring her singing voice.
" Guileless son, each day you grow older, each moment i'm watching my vengeance unfold-" Aslan transformed into his lion form and started attacking the White Witch's remaining followers that didn't run off after the White Witch fled.
"-For the child of my body, the flesh of my soul, will die in returning the birthright he stole." The beast that sided with the White Witch watched Aslan stand before him as his lion's mouth opened and bit his head off, instantly killing the other creature.
" Loyalty, Loyalty, Loyalty, Loyalty, Loyalty only to me." Aslan spits the beast's head, watching it roll down the snowy ground.
" Hush, child, the darkness will rise from the deep and carry you down into sleep." Aslan lifts his head and looks at the mist, faintly seeing the sun.
" Child, the darkness will rise from the deep and carry you down into sleep." Aslan looked at his surroundings and saw many dead bodies, most of the White Witch's followers and some of his followers. His gaze saddened as he roared to mourn those who had fallen.
Elizabeth finished singing and saw that the fire had gone out, making the house lose its lighting, and it started to get cold.
Tumnus finished playing his flute and saw that Lucy was in a deep sleep next to Elizabeth.
Bodhi smiled at Elizabeth.
" Lucy was right. You do have a beautiful and angelic singing voice." He praised.
Elizabeth blushes, getting embarrassed.
Tumnus puts his flute away, remembering the memories of a battle Aslan was in that lost so many people when Elizabeth was singing along to his melody.
" Let me put in some more wood for the fire." He stands and walks away to set up the fire in the chimney so the house can be warm for Lucy and Elizabeth.
