Chapter 3

Liam leaned back onto his bed. He really could not calm down. He decided to take a walk to let off a little steam. And so he did. Liam changed from his jeans into shorts and grabbed his phone and his earbuds. Liam walked out of the door and ran. Liam ran down the street, into the park, around the park, before finally coming to a stop at the park entrance.

He sat down on a bench, panting. "You good?" Liam heard a voice ask. He looked up and to Liam's surprise, he saw none other than Mia.

"Yeah, just a bit winded from running is all." Liam finally managed to say. Why now? I'm all gross and sweaty!

"I didn't know you ran."

"Er, I don't, at least, not usually."

"Oh." Mia sat down next to Liam, "What's your favorite book?"

"I can't decide. What's yours?"

"I can't decide either."

They both chuckled at that. "Are you on a walk too?"

"Kind of, I brought my little sister to the park but she saw some friends of hers and ran off with them."

"Ah, it's times like these where I'm thankful for being an only child."

Mia snorted. "What? It's true. I feel like all the time only children are like, "Oh, I wish I had a sibling to play with." and I'm like, "Why? I don't."

Mia laughed. "You make a good point."

"Thank you."

They sat in comfortable silence, just watching life go by. "I know I said I was gonna pick you up, and I can, but do you wanna walk? I can still meet you at your house and it isn't that long of a walk from your house and the bookstore."

"I'd love too."

Liam turned his head and realized he and Mia had gotten considerably closer. He was debating whether to move or not when a small girl ran up to them. "Hey Mia, this your boyfriend?"

Liam blushed. Mia didn't even move. "Shut up, Soani. You're honestly so annoying."

"You love me," She said as she sat on Mia's lap.

"You're lucky I do." The two grinned at each other.

"Well," said Liam as he rose from the bench, "I'm gonna head home, see you tomorrow Mia, bye Soani."

"See you, Liam," Mia smiled.

"Tomorrow? What's tomorrow?" Soani asked, confused.

Liam had walked away, too far away to hear Mia's answer but he was sure he heard the words 'date' and 'bookstore'. He jogged all the way home.
