Chapter 1

Liam gulped. You got this Liam, you got this, Liam practically chanted internally. It didn't help Liam's nerves. Liam looked across the hall, and there they were, the love of Liam's life, Mia Bergard. Mia was the most beautiful human being Liam had ever laid eyes on, with big, brown, doe-like eyes and sandy colored hair. Mia had a longer name, but no one knew what it was. Liam wanted Mia to like him, to trust him enough to tell him things, to hang out with him, so, today, Liam was going to ask Mia out. If he could just walk over to where Mia was, that is. Liam took a deep breath and called out, "Hey Mia!" Shit, shit, shit!

Mia turned around. "Oh, hey Liam!" Mia smiled.

Liam almost turned into a puddle of goo right on the spot. Liam managed to walk over to Mia. "Umm, can I talk to you? Alone?" He asked nervously.

Mia chuckled. "Sure."

The two walked over to the side of the hallway. "So, what was it you wanted to talk about?"

"Um, well, you see, I was wondering if-if-"

"If what?"

"If you wanted to go out with me tomorrow afternoon!" Liam said in a rush.

Mia stared at him. "Um, but if you don't I can totally understand and-"

"No, you idiot! I'd love to go out with you tomorrow afternoon, but what time? And where should we go?"

Liam was shocked silent. "Liam?"

"Uh, yes?"

Mia chuckled again. "Daydreaming?"

Liam blushed. "No. What were you saying?"

"I asked what time? And where should we go?"

"Oh, does two o' clock work for you?"

"Definitely. Where should we go?"

"Um, I was thinking the local bookstore?"

"...You know, this is probably going to be the best date of my life. Sure, I've had guys bring me to movies and fancy restaurants and whatnot but no one has ever taken me to a bookstore. I fucking love bookstores."

"I do too." Liam grinned.

"Awesome, meet you there?"

"I can pick you up."

"Alright, just be prepared to deal with my little sister. Here, what's your number? I'll text you my address."

"Um, 757-846-0010."

"Got it. And, sent!"

Liam checked his phone. He had a text from an unknown number. "Is it, 3998 Poplar Street?"

"Yup, that's it."

"And should I put your contact under Mia or something else?"

"Mia's fine. What should I put for yours?"

Future husband. Liam thought. "Just Liam's fine."

"Uhuh, okay, just Liam," Mia answered. "Well, see you tomorrow Liam."

"Yeah, see you, Mia." They parted ways and headed to their classes.

At the end of the day, Liam climbed onto his bus. Another boy jeered at him, "Nerd!"

Liam didn't care, nothing could sour his mood, because he had finally done it. Liam had a date with Mia Bergard. On Saturday. He sat in his usual seat, pulled out his book, and read. After a while, the bus got to Liam's stop. He practically skipped off of that bus.
