Y/n let out a frustrated sigh as she bit the end of a wooden pencil.

"I've been feeling like that for the past three years"

She looked up to see Zuko leaning against the door frame of her bedroom.

"Yeah, the Avatar sightings have been all over the place! There so random!" She said giving Zuko the map, "but it doesn't matter anyway"

"What do you mean 'it doesn't matter!'" he yelled.

"We'll just keep heading north till he makes up his mind" she said.

"What's up North?" he asked.

"Water benders" she said.

"So you want go to the Northern Water tribe?" He said.

"Yeah, the legend says he must first learn wat--"

"Water, Earth and Fire, I know what the legend says Y/n! I've sent looking for him for three years!" He set the map down.

"Alright, and you found him in the southern water tribe, right?" She asked.

"Yeah so?" He crossed his and across his chest.

"There are no more benders down there--"

"He's traveling with a bender!" He interrupted.

"If there are any benders left, they would have been a young child" she said, "so they don't have any proper skills do they?"

He nodded, "she's pathetic"

"Then they'll both need a teacher" she said, "and they only benders left--"

"Are up north, of course!" Zuko finished the sentence for her.

"Exactly!" She said, "at least until we get an exact location and follow them from there" she rolling up the map.

Y/n pulled on her sleeveless robe as she exited her chambers.

She was on her way to dinner, after she would just check around the ship(to make sure everything was in check) before heading to bed, so she didn't need her heavy armor. It was usually just the three of them at dinner, Zuko, Iroh and her.

"Did you hear? The Avatar is on Kyoshi, Island!" she overhead one of the crew members say to the cook as she walked by the kitchen.

"what!" she stopped, "The Avatar is on Kyoshi Island?!" She walked into the kitchen, the men backing up in fear, "and when do you suppose you were going to tell me?! Next week?"

She sent one last glare at them before leaving the kitchen in a sprint, "Zuko! Prince Zuko!" Her yells echoed through the ship, "Zuko!"

She finally made it down to the dinning area, out of breath, she leaned against the door frame, "Zuko!" She breathed out.

"Y/n! Is something wrong?" Iroh asked, "your yells were heard throughout the whole ship!"

"What is it, Y/n?" Zuko asked getting up to his feet.

"The Avatar--" she caught her breath, "He's on Kyoshi Island!"

"Then what are you standing around for!" He said walking over to her, "have you told the helsman? Have you prepared the rhinos?"

"Well no I--"

But he didn't let her finish as he pushed past her and angrily walked down the hall.

"Zuko where are you going?" She asked walking behind him.

"I'm going to do your job and tell the helmsman to head to Kyoshi Island!" He said walking faster now up a staircase.

Honestly, Y/n took great pride in being Commander of her own crew, and she liked giving orders around, everyone knew that.

"No Zuko, I'll tell them!" She said now running up the stairs as Zuko also ran away, "Zuko come back here! This is my ship! I'll tell them!"

"no way, Y/n!" Zuko kept running up the stairs, "and this is my ship!

"but it's my crew! Zuko don't you dare order my crew around! Zuko come back!" She lunged at his feet making them both fall down, "I'll tell them!"

"What are we? Five and playing tag? Get off me Y/n!" He said as she stood up first, however she didn't get far as Zuko grabbed a fist full of her red robe.

She shook it off and set off running away shouting, "yeah, and you're it, ZuZu!"

Y/n giggled as she reached the deck, leaving Zuko behind, she walked up to the wheelhouse.

"Hey!" She called out as she entered it, making both men jump up at the sound of her voice.

"Y-yes Commander?" One said.

"Set sail to Kyoshi Island" was all she had to say for them salute off and change course.

Exiting the wheelhouse, the night's breeze made her shiver a little.

She was never fond of cold weather, she felt like her bending weakened, but perhaps she was just over exaggerating as every fire bender wasn't very good in cold weather.

"Get the rhinos ready!" She heard Prince Zuko's voice yell and foot steps running on the deck.

She walked back down to him, goosebumps on her arms as she rubbed it with her other arm.

"I told you the rhinos would be useful" he said handing her back her robe.

He was referring to the other day were he kept insisting her all day until she gave in and stopped by to board four rhinos.

"Yeah whatever" she mumbled, "I'm going to change back into my uniform"

By the time they arrived at Kyoshi Island it was the next day in the afternoon.

There was a buzz of excitement going around the ship as capturing the Avatar met that the crew wouldn't have to listen to the two bossy teenagers any longer.

"We'll be arriving soon Commander!" A helsman shouted from the top of the wheelhouse.

"Excellent!" She replied, making her way below the deck to where the rhinos were, the four soliders where on their rhinos as well (two per rhino) and ready to go. Extra soliders were also on this floor, to help the mission run smoothly.

"You're late" Zuko commented, he too was on his rhino ready to leave.

Y/n sent him a smile as she put on her red helmet."Everything in order?"

The soliders nodded and helped her onto the rhino, then she extended her hand as she was handed her spear.

"We're here!" One of the extra soliders yelled from the door.

They felt the ship stop and the ramp fell open.

"I want the Avatar alive!" Zuko said as they rode off the ship.

"You heard him!" Y/n said, making her rhino take the lead, having Zuko behind her as they rode onto Kyoshi Island's rocky beach path.

"Y/n what are you doing?" He said as he caught up to her, now side by side.

"Uh bodyguard, remember?" She said, one hand on the reins and the other on her spear.

"I don't need a bodyguard!" He snarled then asked, "why do you carry that thing? You don't need it, you're a fire-bender"

Y/n just shugged not really having a fixed answer right then and there.

A short ride up onto Kyoshi Island's rocky beach path and they found themselves in a deserted looking village.

"Come out Avatar! You can't hide from me forever!" Zuko announced, yet the town was quite and empty.

Y/n raised her hand and waved her hand forward once, along with the order, "find him!" to the soliders, she stayed by Zuko's side.

But they were dumbly met with the Kyoshi warriors and their fans.

Y/n quickly saw that one was heading their way, so she sent out some fire at her, but she avoided and jumped up heading for Zuko.

Y/n swiftly moved her rhino in front of Zuko's and hit the girl with her spear across the stomach, like swinging at a ball with a wooden stick. She was careful and didn't hit her with the blade as that's not what she was going for.

The girl fell to the ground with a cry and Zuko sent a fire ball at her, but it was deflected by another warrior.

While distracted, both fire benders where's taken off their rhinos by the warriors. Y/n got up to see that, Zuko was surrounded by three other girls.

Meanwhile, she was ambushed by the one who took her out and the one she hit.

She glanced over at Zuko, It seemed like he had everything under control as he took out all three of them.

Y/n shot fire at them, but just like last time, they both jumped out of the way, behind her.

Before Y/n could turn around, they hit her back, making her fall flat, face first. However Y/n quickly rolled over and pointed her spear at them as they towered over her.

"Yeah, what are your little fans gonna do?" She smirked, swinging her spear again hitting both of them.

She was able to get up to her feet and use the fire bending's force to throw them into a house that was wrecked and caught fire in the process.

Standing tall over their victory, Zuko called out, "Nice try Avatar, but these little girls can't save you!"

"Hey over here!" A voice called out.

Y/n turned and went into her fighting pose as Zuko said, "finally" and sent fire his way.

"That's him?" She said slightly confused, this was the first time she'd seen the Avatar and thought Zuko was just kidding around when he said he was a 12 year old kid.

But no time to stop by confusion, Y/n shot fire at him to bring him down as he was flying through the air, he was an Airbender after all.

Y/n manged to bring him down, making him drop his stick he flew with. She aimed a fire kick at him, but he jumped out of the way sending a powerful gust of wind, knocking her into a house, rubble trapping her inside.

"Stupid!" She gritted through her teeth. She was frustrated as she was a close combat fighter, not long distance.

She freed herself from the rubble to see the Kyoshi warriors still fighting with her soliders.

"Stupid Kyoshi warriors!" She shouted, sending her anger out in a powerful fire to set their houses on fire.

Immediately the warriors stopped fighting to attend to their village. Y/n then saw a big fluffy white thing with the Avatar and two others.

From where she stood, there was no chance of catching up to them in time so instead, with precision, she threw her spear, just enough to graze the animal and to capture their attention.

They all looked back as she ran to them, sending a fire ball their way.

"APPA YIP YIP! YIP YIP!" The Kyoshi warrior screamed and the 'Appa' flew up into the sky.

"Hurry head back to the ship!" Zuko yelled running out of the rubble, "Don't loose sight of them!"

Y/n however took her spear out of the ground and continued aiming fire at the flying fluffy Appa, until Zuko grabbed her hand and pulled her onto the rhino.

She then felt pulling behind her and turned to see the soliders trying to climb on, "this is ridiculous" she muttered as, Zuko whipped the chains and the rhino began to run, making her hold onto Zuko's waist in order for her to not fall off (just like the two soliders that fell behind her, leaving only one clinging onto the rhinos tail)

Halfway down the rocky path a giant sea snake bursted out of the water, with the Avatar riding on top.

It sprayed what seemed like the whole island with water. The unexpected forecast made it look like it rained, putting out the fires in the village, along with leaving the two fire benders completely drenched and unamused.

"Absolutely ridiculous!" She said, soaked in water from head to toe.

They shortly reached and boarded the ship again. Y/n got off and started speedily waking back up the ship, "we lost three soliders today and three rhinos!"

A crew member spoke up, "You mean there--"

"No there not dead! They were just left on the Island!" She said leaving a wet trail to her room.

Both teenagers, in bad moods, went to their coresponding rooms to take off the heavy (and wet) armor and clothing pieces, discarding it in a wet pile and putting on a set of dry clothes.

They both grumpily sat at the dinner table with Iroh, poking at their fish as the old man happily ate his.

Y/n was the first to talk, now calmed down a bit, "I didn't think he was an actual kid... I thought you were just pulling my leg" she sighed out, "I'm sorry"

Zuko stabbed his fish with a chop stick and didn't say anything.

"We'll get him next time, you'll see, now I know what I'm up against, what I'm looking for, I won't let you down, Zuko" She stood up taking her plate and left the room.

"She sounds like you Prince Zuko" Iroh said putting a bite of fish in his mouth, "you should be grateful she came with you, taking time out of her life to help, not to mention the resources you have available through her, like the rhinos!"

"I am grateful, uncle!" He tapped his fingers in the table, just thinking.

He really was grateful for Y/n joining his trip. She was smart on the ship, although her fighting skills could use some work. Zuko made a mental note to help her train to make her a better fighter. And the spear needs to go. As Commander, she had resources he didn't, and it'll make finding the Avatar a lot easier.
