Chapter 5 Doctor!

Richard rushed into the palace physician's house. “ Richard what are you doing here weren’t we under siege by the Dragerspits?” Wolford asked looking surprised.

“We ended it early, but she needs your help.” Richard blurts out, taking time only for breath “Now don’t freak out, she is... “ Richard tries to explain, but Wolford already noticed that she is a Malgenor.

Wolford takes a long minute before speaking. “Where did you get tha… her, where did you find her?” He asks as he hesitantly gathers his medical supplies “Samantha, make some warm water for my patient.”

A girl walks in. She has pale skin, dark grey eyes and long, very messy dark brown hair. She has small eyes and a small nose, with a height of about 5 feet. Walks into the room with a bucket but suddenly drops it when she sees Reeya "What is that monster doing here?” She screams, not out of anger but of fear.

“Calm down Samantha. That is our patient, and I’m sure that Richard has a good reason for bringing her, ok,” Wolford calmy proposes.

“But she’s…”

“Sam,” he says with a little more force.

Samantha starts to help. She gets the bucket of water and cups her hands together for several minutes slowly brightening the room before the water even begins to warm up. Soon after she slowly does less and less till she is just in the corner watching Reeya.

“Don’t worry she helped us take out the… what did you call them, the Dangersprites. I trust her fully and I think Robert is beginning to trust her too,” The Traveler explains while gesturing at Richard. Wolford and Richard give him a look but decide not to question him further and resume the more pressing matter of how to help Reeya. “One thing, you found an amulet on Reeya when you searched her right. Well, I've been trying to figure out what it did, and you say she can’t survive long in the cold. When I met her she had been living in the mountains for months at the least. So that means the amulet must have protected her somewhat. If we are going to have any chance of getting to a volcano then we might need that amulet.”

“It…  is… The Forbidden Amulet of Freezing.” Reeya explained. “I got it from a ruin up in the mountains close to the same time I got to this place.”

They spend many hours trying whatever they could to help Reeya, well most of them. Richard with his limited but useful knowledge of Malgenor, Wolford with his medical skill, and The Traveler who just ran back and forth getting whatever item that was needed.

Just as the work began to be finished, a guard arrived and announced that the princess requested to see The Traveler and Richard immediately. Making sure that Wolford could do without their help, they left without delay. The princess had a wide smile on her face and not as nearly as many guards as before clearly glade of her choice to let the strangers prove themselves.

“Actions speak louder than words, and what an impact you made with both. You have proven that if you didn’t want to be captured you certainly would not have. So I will tell you the location of the nearest volcano,” The princess said, barely containing a laugh. “And since some people like to forget their post during a siege... Richard can go with you. I’m certain that the Queen will approve, but come back soon,” she coos with a little more meaning than The Traveler could pick up.

“Excuse me Princess, but we need more help on this than I can offer. Reeya, I mean the Malgenor, won't survive without the amulet. I fear that we may need someone of medical skill,” Richard suggests, knowing that this will be no small journey.
