Chapter 4 The Attack
Chapter 4 The Attack
The Traveler and Reeya followed the main group of guards till they reached the wall. From the high vantage point, they could see for miles. But, where they expected white snow, they saw rows of goblins preparing for a siege. It was several minutes before Reeya noticed that they weren't attacking.
“Why are they just standing there?” Reeya asked still not fully recovered.
“They are waiting because they have nothing to gain if they attack early. The longer they wait the more forces they get where we have everyone we are going to have with nothing we can do till battle begins.” Richard explained but most people didn’t hear because The Traveler jumped off the wall and charged straight at the main goblin force. No one was expecting such an intrepid act. Goblins fled from the lone attacker, but when he got close enough to attack they noticed that he had no weapons. When Reeya and Richard finally processed what just happened and maneuvered through the stairs and to the gate. The goblins realized that this opponent needed no conventional weapon, as he began to masterfully neutralize groups of them with just cabbages. Before Richard and Reeya got out to join the one-man war Richard noticed that Reeya had no weapon. “Here, you know how to use a sword right?” Richard hands her his sword.
She examines the finely crafted sword with its razor sharp edges, fine balance and on the hilt there is a crest of some sort of bird. She looks up at him gives a nod then charges after The Traveler.
The score of goblins that were still brave enough to attack The Traveler. Soon found that a cabbage to the face hurts and how well it can parry all of their attacks. If they try to stab, their swords and daggers were rendered useless and became nothing more than a cabbage shiskabob. Heavy amounts of the Dragerspit were fleeing. When Reeya and Richard entered the combat the enemy had lost heart and gave little resistance. Even with the huge advantage Reeya had going for her, she was in no shape to fight. The third goblin she attacked managed in a lucky swing hitting her in the head with its club falling her. Richard was narrowly avoiding hits and giving only minor wounds with his dagger, which was not made any easier by worrying about two fronts at the same time as well as protecting Reeya. But, he managed. Then, the rest of the guards decided that the fight was more than half over. The guards gave the last push needed to demoralise the rest of the goblins, making the last minutes of the battle a question on how far you were willing to run. Richard helped pick up Reeya and noticed her skin was ice cold. He didn’t realize how cold it was out here and knew that Malgenor live in very warm climates. Being this cold would most likely kill her. He rushed back to the palace. The Traveler, even though was preoccupied with gathering all the loot he could find, looked at Richard and knew this was more important than any object he could find in the aftermath.
