Trial #1
It was six am when the alarm woke everyone up again. The zodiacs exited their rooms to see Ophiuchus in the hallway, looking annoyed.
Ophiuchus silenced the alarm. "What did you guys even buy yesterday to have spent seventy-nine thousand dollars from my bank account?"
Pie shrugged, her shoulders almost reaching her new hoop earrings that were lined with diamonds. "I'm not sure what you're talking about."
"You will all pay for this. Everyone will do fifty laps around the hotel, RIGHT NOW! Anyone who doesn't complete their laps within half an hour will get another punishment."
"Does that mean you're not cutting us off?" asked Vinn who had a new twenty-four karat gold bracelet.
"I'm definitely cutting you all off. Your fifty laps start now. I have hotel staff outside to watch you all individually to make sure you complete your laps. You're not allowed to use your powers."
Everyone sprinted down the hallway, outside the hotel to begin running laps.
"Since Taurus is better in a wheelchair, you're not allowed to use it. We wouldn't want you to have an unfair advantage." Ophiuchus lifted Taurus out of her chair and dropped her on the ground.
"I CAN'T WALK! I LITERALLY NEED MY CHAIR!"
Ophiuchus shrugged and sat on the hotel stairs to watch.
Capricorn turned around and helped Taurus climb up on his back. Taurus grabbed Capricorn's shoulders while he held onto her ankles to keep her in place.
Taurus sighed. "You should just leave me here. We'll never get fifty laps finished like this. I'm slowing you down."
"I'm not going to leave you and make you crawl around the building. Whatever her second punishment is, we'll do it together."
"I don't deserve a friend like you."
"Of course you do."
After five minutes, Capricorn barely finished his first lap when Aquarius stopped to carry Taurus on his back. "I'm stronger, I can carry her more easily."
"Thank you," panted Capricorn before continuing his lap. Aquarius continued sprinting with Taurus holding onto him.
"How many laps have you done already?" asked Taurus.
"Eight. You're not slowing me down too much."
Throughout the laps, Taurus was passed around from Capricorn to Aquarius to Virgo to Gemini to Taur to Scor and then to Saggi. The alternates even helped Taurus finish the race after seeing what Ophiuchus did to her.
Three minutes before the timer finished, the last zodiacs finished their fiftieth lap, panting heavily.
"I think some of these guys fainted." Libra checked on Pisces who was now lying on the ground. "You made them push themselves too hard, especially on an empty stomach. They need to rest now."
"Your first trial begins at midnight tonight. Be ready for eleven thirty." Without saying anything else, Ophiuchus entered the hotel.
"If there's anyone I'd wish death upon, it's that fucking demon." Scorpio helped Taurus back into her wheelchair.
"So many people fainted." Lee finished checking Taur's pulse. "They're all breathing."
"Bring them all back to their rooms!" ordered Libra. "The rest of us will eat at the cafeteria because I don't want anyone else to faint. Then we'll bring some food and water to the others when they regain consciousness. Stop worrying, they'll all be alright, they just need rest and sugar."
"I actually want to kill her." Pie curled one hand into a fist while she stroked a fainted Cancy's hair with her other hand. "I want that bitch to die."
Everyone then began carrying their friends to their rooms.
***
The fainted zodiacs slowly regained consciousness, and were able to get out of bed after eating and resting a bit.
Nobody visited the training room today, everyone spent time with the zodiacs who fainted earlier, keeping an eye on them. The originals and alternates bonded over how much they hated Ophiuchus.
If anything, this reminded the zodiacs that they couldn't push themselves as hard as they wanted. Their bodies could only handle so much, constellations or not.
***
At eleven thirty pm, the zodiacs all boarded a large windowless private jet with Ophiuchus and another hotel staff. Everyone was tired, and they all wore a mandatory black full-body suit with their names sewed into the back.
"I will now explain this trial." Ophiuchus pulled two brief cases in her lap. "This is a timed trial. You will be scored and ranked based on how quickly you complete it. The first place winner will receive a bonus during the next trial. Everyone in class F will receive a penalty." Ophiuchus opened a briefcase to reveal twelve syringes. "You will now be injected with a syringe that will transfer this fluid into your bloodstreams. It makes you unable to use your powers for twelve hours. This is mandatory since you're not allowed to use powers during the trial."
The staff member smiled at the worried zodiacs. "Don't worry, I'm a nurse, I know how to do this."
Lee looked like he was about to faint. "You can't make me get a needle!"
The nurse carefully wiped a section of Lee's arm. Lee began loudly protesting and shaking until Vinn tapped a finger to his head. Suddenly, he passed out.
"He'll wake up in five minutes," reassured Vinn.
The nurse injected everyone with the syringes, but injected Vinn with three instead of one. "It's because you have a lot more power than the others. It takes more of these to make it all go away."
Meanwhile, Scorpio looked like she just solved the world's biggest mystery.
"What do you look so happy about?" asked Ares.
Scorpio shrugged innocently. "I'm just excited to kick your ass."
"We tied during the race earlier."
"It won't be a tie this time."
***
When the jet arrived, everyone exited onto square shaped roof that was so large nobody could see where it ended. Beside them stood an extra large circular platform.
"Step onto that circle, then your trial will begin. We will be watching you from the cameras. All injuries will be attended to at a hospital when we return." Ophiuchus stepped back into the jet, climbing beside the pilot in the passenger's seat.
The zodiacs hesitantly stepped onto the circular platform, which slowly lowered into the building.
"Where are we?" asked Sagittarius as she looked around. There were in a white square room with a white ceiling and white floors. Each wall had six doors.
The zodiacs stepped off the platform, then it started rising again.
"I guess we all have to take a different door." Capri cautiously approached a door and tried to open it. "It's locked."
"Is this an escape room?" asked Cancer. "I really hope it's not."
Scor checked all the doors. "They're all locked."
"There's twenty four doors, and twenty four of us," announced Virgo. "Everyone pick a door and stand beside it."
After everyone found their own door, they tried twisting the doorknob. All twenty four doors opened. Beyond this room were more white hallways.
Aquarius walked down the hallway, glancing at the fluorescent lights that flickered, giving this hallway a creepy atmosphere. He continued walking, until he reached a point where the hallway branched off into three different hallways.
After taking the middle hallway for a while, it branched off again.
Aquarius furrowed his brow. Then it hit him. The first trial was a maze.
***
Leo walked through hallways, noticing every detail. She noticed how some hallways were bright, but others were more dim.
What's going on with the lights? There has to be something.
After hitting a few dead ends in brightly lit hallways, Leo came to the conclusion that the hallways became more dark as you progressed through the maze. Leo wasn't afraid of the dark, but she still felt uneasy. Somehow, she had the feeling the trial couldn't be this easy. Navigating hallways until you found your way out of the maze.
The way Ophiuchus said injuries would be treated at the hospital... how could you injure yourself in empty white hallways? Something wasn't right. There was something else that she was missing. Leo just hoped she'd find out what it was before it's too late.
***
Aries and Sagittarius ran into each other earlier, now they searched for the exit together.
"I wonder what's up with these lights." Aries glanced at the dimmed lights above them. "It's getting harder to see. Do you think that means we're getting closer?"
Sagittarius nodded. "Maybe."
"The floor looks kind of-"
"ARIES!"
Aries stopped after hearing her name, intime to watch the floor crumble in front of her. Aries looked into the hole to see a deep pit. "I almost fell into that trap."
Sagittarius suddenly looked around with wide eyes. "There's traps?!?"
"Apparently. Should we jump over this one, or try a different hallway?"
"The lights get darker down there. If the lights actually get darker as we get closer to the exit, then this must be the right path."
"It's not like Ophiuchus would set a trap that would kill us... right?"
"I have no idea." Sagittarius ran and jumped over the hole in the floor, landing safely on the other side. Aries followed.
***
Cancer managed to team up with Leon and Capri. Not his ideal team, but he was stuck with whoever he could find. They weren't the worst people to get stuck with.
Leon yawned. "I'm so tired. I'm almost falling asleep."
Cancer stretched his arms. "I have adrenaline keeping me awake."
"It's getting harder to see." Capri squinted as she led the group onwards.
"I hope everyone else is alright." Leon paused. "I hear something."
Everyone else paused to listen.
Cancer furrowed his brow. "It sounds like running water."
"Running water?" Capri continued, leading them to a hallway that split two ways. "Why is it getting so dark?"
"This way!" Leon pointed to the hallway to their right.
Cancer swallowed. "That sound is getting louder."
"Let's take the other hallway." Capri turned around and ran towards the other hallway. Cancer and Leon followed.
Cancer sighed in relief. "The sound is getting more distant."
"It's almost completely dark." Capri's legs shook as she paused. "I can't do this."
"But we have to!" encouraged Cancer. "We'll be ranked class F if we don't escape before the others. I'm scared of the dark too. The only way I'm able to keep going is because I have to."
"It's so dark... I'm... scared." Capri sat against the wall. "I just have to calm myself down. You guys go on."
"We can't leave you," protested Leo.
Capri curled up into a ball. "If you don't keep moving, you'll all be class F!"
Cancer and Leon hesitantly continued without Capri after various unsuccessful attempts to get her to keep walking.
***
Libra limped through the hallways. Earlier, a knife suddenly flew out of a wall, slashing the back of her left ankle. The bleeding wasn't serious, but Libra was afraid to put too much pressure on that foot.
That knife was part of the Trials. Was it a trap so slow me down? What kind of trial is this? What does a maze full of traps have to do with us fighting for our kingdoms? Is it to test our intelligence?
The Trials will likely test different things like strength, intelligence, stamina. But causing us to get injured like this is taking it too far. Ophiuchus WANTS to hurt us. Does she have a reason for this, or does she just enjoy watching us suffer?
***
Gemini and Pisces ignored the weird sound as they walked through the hallway.
"Do you think there's monsters?" asked Pisces. "Imagine if we all had weapons and had to fight monsters or something... then we all die."
Gemini rolled his eyes. "Stop talking about creepy stuff."
"GUYS?" Gemini and Pisces paused at the sound of a muffled voice.
"WE'RE OVER HERE!"
They heard the sound of wheels turning on the tiled floor before seeing Taurus turn the corner.
"Taurus!" Pisces ran forward.
"Find anything?" asked Gemini.
Taurus shook her head. "I'm completely lost. How long has it been?"
Gemini checked his phone. Somehow, the flashlight button wouldn't work. "Two hours."
"How many do we get?" asked Pisces.
"Until we all escape," replied Taurus.
"This is bullshit." Gemini paused. "There's that sound again."
Taurus paused. "Is that... running water?"
Before they could react, a tile in the ceiling opened up, soaking Pisces in hot water.
***
Capricorn, Aquarius, Scorpio, and Cancy found each other. They walked through the dark hallways, being careful not to activate any traps.
Cancy already activated one that caused a knife to fly out of the wall, almost hitting her.
"The maze makes sense if she wants to test our ability to find a way out," explained Scorpio. "But what's the point of traps that could kill us?"
Cancy nervously followed behind the others. "She doesn't m-mind if one per-person from each Zodiac dies. Only one, one of us is needed to rule each country."
"It also increases the danger," added Capricorn. "The other trials will likely only get more dangerous and challenging."
"She wants us to know that she is in full control of our lives," thought Aquarius outloud. "If she'd put traps that could hurt us in this maze , maybe it's to show she wouldn't hesitate to kill us if we ever tried to hurt her."
"I've considered that possibility." Scorpio sighed. "If we all worked together to kill her, then took turns ruling or divided up all the land, it would be better than competing against each other. Ophiuchus likely considered that option before. She knows we all hate her."
Cancy nodded. "Th-thats why she eras-erased Gem's memories. Because she d-doesn't like it when p-people try to deceive her."
"She wants us to know that she won't hesitate to kill us. Maybe that's why Gina..." Capricorn trailed off upon coming to a conclusion.
Scorpio nodded. "Gina is already dead. If we pose too much of a threat to Ophiuchus, we'll be next."
"I don't know what exactly happened with Gina, but Gem won't tell anyone anything." Aquarius shook his head. "Either way, she set traps in the maze to hurt us, so make sure she never sees you as a threat. She'll kill you and let your alternate or original have a free pass to rule your kingdom."
The four zodiacs approached a hallway that split four ways. When they reached the point where it branched off, they heard noise below them. All four zodiacs panicked and ran into four different hallways intime to dodge a pitfall. With no way to safely cross over a pitfall that large, they continued walking through the maze separately.
***
Gem wandered around with Virgo and Aquari.
"STOP!"
Gem and Virgo stopped intime to see a tripwire in front of them.
"How did you see that?" asked Gem. "It almost blends into the floor."
Aquari stepped over the wire. "I have sharp eyes."
Everyone paused when they heard a beep. "Twenty three zodiacs remaining."
"So we get announcements from a robotic voice whenever anyone completes a trial?" asked Virgo.
"I wonder who escaped." Gem sighed at the dark hallway. "Its pitch black. I can't see a thing."
"We're basically blind now." Aquari continued walking. "Let's hope we don't die."
"Twenty two zodiacs remaining."
"What if that announcement actually meant how many of us are still alive?" asked Gem.
Virgo glared at Gem. "It means how many of us escaped."
"Ophiuchus isn't trying to kill us. She just wants to hurt us." Aquari paused. "The floor in front of me collapsed. I can't see in front of me, so I don't know how big the hole is, or even where it is."
"We can't try jumping." Virgo shook his head. "We'll find another way."
Aquari backed up, before sprinting and jumping forward. She almost screamed as she fell, managing to grab onto the edge of the floor on the other side of the hole, and pull herself up.
"I'm not trying that." Virgo turned around.
Gem glanced at the hole and Aquari's faintly visible orange hair on the other side. "Me either."
***
Ares watched the door of the exit to the maze. Being the first to finish, he got to watch Scorpio's face drop as she realized he beat her. Now, they both waited to see who would be the next to finish.
"I don't know what I expected for the trials, but it wasn't this."
"This is only the beginning." Ares crossed his arms. "They'll get harder and more dangerous after every trial."
"So we start off with navigating through a maze of traps where we can't see anything..."
"Intimidated?"
"Of course not. The traps were so dumb because the worst that happened was probably a few scratches."
"She added in the traps just to scare us. Or maybe she realized a maze was too boring on it's own."
"FINALLY!" Capricorn finished the maze and looked at everyone with wide eyes. "Wait... I'm one of the first to finish? I'm going to be class A?"
"Capricorn!" Scorpio put her hand over his eye. "What happened?"
"I'm not sure. It was pitch black and I felt something smack into my face."
"You have a black eye."
Capricorn used his phone as a mirror. "That doesn't look good at all."
Ares paused. "Maybe there was more than a few scratches."
"What does Ophiuchus gain from beating us up like this?" Scorpio glared at the maze. "She can't be just trying to scare us. It's like she... wants us to suffer."
"She's beating us up just because she can." Capricorn rolled his eyes.
Aquari exited the building, looking pleased to have finished fourth. "I guess we're all going to be class A. I heard there's a nice spa in the class A section of the hotel."
"I officially hate mazes." Aquarius exited the maze, looking annoyed. Blood soaked through his black suit on his left arm.
"What happened?" asked Aquari with no emotion in her voice.
"A knife flew out of the wall and stabbed my arm."
"Oof. Did it hurt?"
"Yeah."
"Are you alright?" asked a worried Capricorn.
Aquarius nodded. "I pulled the knife out. It's not bleeding too much."
Scorpio sighed. "Seeing your arm bleeding like that still makes me uncomfortable."
Vinn grinned as she saw the night sky. "I'm free! Wait, am I the sixth?"
"Yes," replied Aquarius.
"Class A!" Vinn turned around to look at the white square shaped building. "It took five hours to complete. I'm not looking forward to the next trials."
***
After everyone returned to the hotel, they all sat in the meeting room. Pisces needed Cancy to treat his burns from the hot water, and somehow a flame thrower burnt Saggi out of nowhere, giving him burns too. Most zodiacs had some kind of bandage on their bodies and decided to let their injuries heal on their own, since they didn't want Cancy to get sick from using her healing powers too much. She agreed to heal a few people at a time. Lee had to use a wheelchair because of the cast on his foot (to everyone except Capri's amusement), after falling in a pitfall and snapping his bone clean in two. Capricorn had an ice pack for his eye.
Ophiuchus finished writing on the white board behind her, allowing everyone to see the current ranks.
Class A:
1. Ares
2. Scorpio
3. Capricorn
4. Aquari
5. Aquarius
6. Vinn
Class B:
7. Scor
8. Leo
9. Cancer
10. Leon
11.Aries
12. Sagittarius
13. Libra
14. Cancy
15. Pie
16. Taurus
17. Gemini
18. Pisces
Class F:
19. Saggi
20. Gem
21. Virgo
22. Taur
23. Lee
24. Capri
Lee was unable to finish the maze, being stuck in the pitfall. Capri was unable to walk through the dark hallways.
Ophiuchus distributed to everyone their new room keys. "You may all go pick your new rooms."
***
Class F took the elevator together.
"I can't believe we only have access to the first eight floors," muttered Virgo.
Gem frowned. "We would have placed higher if we followed Aquari."
"Or we would have fallen into a pitfall and broke our legs like Lee."
Lee seemed to be pissed about his injury. "This is stupid."
Saggi glanced at his white tracksuit which was half burnt. "I was slow because of the flamethrower."
Taur rubbed his head. "I passed out for a bit when something hit me in the head."
"I wonder what our penalty will be," sighed Capri.
The elevator doors opened to reveal the second floor. All six bedrooms were located here, along with a basic living room, and a small pool room that was an upgrade from the one below. The walls were grey, while the floors were made out of a weak wood that was easily scratched.
"I don't see much of an upgrade from the bottom floor." Gem sat in a living room chair. "They didn't even get us a tv."
"My phone shows that the service is weak here, and the internet is slow." Saggi pocketed his phone. "This is hell."
"Let's see the other floors," suggested Virgo.
After exploring the other floors, they found a laundry room with one washer and dryer, a small art room, a small cafeteria, and a dusty library full of children's books on floor two. The other six floors were empty.
"Bitch," muttered Lee as they re-entered the second floor. "She told us we can go up to floor eight, but floors four to eight are empty!"
"I should have known," sighed Taur. "It's just like her to pull something like that."
"Woof."
Saggi opened his dog carrier. A chocolate lab puppy walked out of her cage, yawning after her nap.
"YOU HAVE A DOG?" Gem squealed and knelt beside the puppy. "Is it a boy or girl?"
Saggi smiled as he bent down to pet the puppy. "She's a girl. Her name is Raiya. She has a Russian name."
Gem squealed again as Raiya started licking her face. "This is the cutest dog I've ever seen."
Capri grinned and began petting Raiya. "All of the alternates love Saggi's dog. She's so sweet and precious."
"Aren't pets not allowed to walk around outside the bedrooms?" asked Lee.
"Oops." Saggi scooped Raiya in his arms and tried the bedroom doors until he found the one his room key unlocked.
"We should probably get settled in our new rooms too." Taur grabbed his bags and found his room. Everyone else did the same.
"How long until the next trial?" asked Gem before entering her room.
"Ophiuchus won't tell us," replied Capri.
Virgo entered his room and observed. The floors were carpeted, the walls were white, and there seemed to be no air conditioning. The washrooms were a little nicer, and the room was overall pretty small, but still a decent size larger than the classless rooms. The bed at least was comfortable, Virgo just hoped it wasn't crawling with bed bugs.
I have to become at least class B next time, thought Virgo before deciding to get ready to go to sleep.
***
After class F finished using the elevator, class B took their luggage upstairs. They had to split into two groups since there wasn't enough space for everyone and their luggage.
The first group of zodiacs stepped onto floor nine. The floors were made out of some kind of white wood, and the walls were painted blue. Four bedrooms were located on this floor, the other eight were on floors ten and eleven.
After the second group of class B arrived, everyone looked around.
"Who wants bedrooms on this floor?" asked Libra.
Taurus shrugged. "I don't care."
"I'll take a room on this floor with Taurus then!" announced Cancer.
Pisces nodded. "Me too!"
"I guess I can take the last room," offered Sagittarius.
Leo's eyes widened in surprise. "You don't want a room on the top floor?"
Sagittarius shook her head. "I always try to take the top floor. I want to try taking a lower floor for a change."
"It's not..."
Aries shushed Scor. "It makes a difference to us."
Leo smirked and wiggled her eyebrows at Sagittarius, who replied by rolling her eyes.
"Wait. Who's room keys unlock the rooms on this floor?" asked Taurus.
After everyone tried their room keys on the four rooms, they traded cards so that Taurus, Cancer, Sagittarius and Pisces had the cards for their rooms. Everyone else left, and decided to pick their rooms on the floors above before exploring the other rooms available to them in the class B section.
Taurus wheeled around the ninth floor. It consisted of a four bedrooms, a large living room with stuffed couches, a flatscreen tv, beanbag chairs, and a nice coffee table. There was also a large spa room, a nice pool, a soundproof karaoke room, and a laundry room with six washers and dryers.
Pisces gasped when he walked inside his bedroom. The floors had fuzzy carpets, while the walls were painted with a mixture of sunset colours that blended with each other. There was a fan above his bed for air conditioning, and the room itself was fairly large. The mattress on the bed was memory foam, and Pisces even had a desk and a small tv. He smiled and opened Handsome's cage to let him out, after setting up his food and water bowl and his doggy bed.
"The internet is faster here than it was downstairs!" announced Sagittarius. "Apparently we can call room service as well."
"I don't even care what class A has!" announced Cancer. "I'm happy with class B. Everything is so nice."
Taurus yawned and returned to her room. They were up all night in the maze. Taurus couldn't wait to get to sleep.
***
"There's so m-many rooms on this floor!" cheered Cancy.
Libra, Cancy, Leon and Scor picked rooms on the tenth floor while the remaining zodiacs took the elevator to floor eleven.
"This is such a nice hotel!" Leon grabbed Scor's hands and began jumping up and down, like a child. "Isn't it pretty?"
"Yes." Scor let go of Leon's hands and noticed a map on the wall. "According to this, there's a library, an art room, a dinning hall, a... pillow room?" Scor walked towards the pillow room and opened the door to find a room full of pillows.
Libra looked around. "I wonder what the class A rooms are like if we get this."
"I'm so tired." Cancy yawned. "I need to s-sleep."
"It feels weird going to sleep when the sun is already up." Scor rubbed his eyes. "I'm sleep deprived and it's all because of Ophiuchus."
"So your insomnia doesn't contribute to it?" teased Leon.
Scor playfully elbowed Leon. "Why do I tell you stuff?"
"Probably because we're good friends."
"Leon may s-seem like a go-gossip but he keeps everyone's s-secrets," explained Cancy. "He's close with almost, almost all of us, s-so he knows everything that happens w-with us."
Libra nodded. "I can see why. Leon is very friendly with everyone."
"If anyone is staying up, try not to be too loud." Scor entered his room.
"I guess I should sleep too. A guy needs his beauty sleep!" Leon pulled his fabulous pink sparkly bags into his room. Cancy and Libra were also excited to finally get to rest.
***
"Cute little babies." Leo smiled at her sugar gliders whose cage was placed on her nightstand, before joining Gemini, and Pie in the living room. Gemini sat politely on the couch, while Pie sprawled out with her feet hanging off the top.
Leo sat on a small sofa, facing the large window. "Somehow I stayed up all night but I'm not tired."
"I'm just relaxing before I sleep. Pie tied her hair back in a low ponytail. "I want to check out the balcony later."
"Balcony?" Gemini looked around.
"The doors to the balcony are at the end of the hallway." Pie yawned. "Also, if you see a snake crawling around, thats just my pet snake Shomari."
Gemini pulled his knees up on the couch so that they weren't touching the floor. "Pet SNAKE?"
"Yeah. He tends to get out of his cage sometimes. I also let him slither around because his cage is starting to get too small for him. He'll only bite you if he's scared of you."
"GUYS! THERE'S A BALL PIT AND A BALLOON ROOM!" Aries returned with two helium balloons. "I don't know how class A has nicer rooms than this."
"ARIES BEHIND YOU!" screamed Leo.
Aries turned around and screamed, letting go of both balloons as she jumped up on a couch.
"Shomari!" Pie smiled and picked the snake up. He was at least four and a half feet in length, and started coiling around her torso and arms. "Actually, I forgot to close his cage. That's my fault." Pie entered her room to return Shomari to his cage.
"Is it too late to change floors?" asked Aries.
"Why didn't she tell us she had a snake?" Gemini sighed. "When I asked what was in her pet carrier, she told me it was a guinea pig."
"I'm suddenly too tired for this shit." Leo returned to her room where she planned to sleep.
"What's that?" Aries pulled a snake out of the couch where Pie was just sitting. She screamed and threw it at the wall in panic.
Gemini walked towards it cautiously and poked it with a pillow. "It's a fake snake."
Aries sighed. "I don't know how long I'll last before I push Pie out the window."
***
"What's in that pet carrier?"
Scorpio held the carrier with Cheeto inside closely to her chest. "What's in yours?"
Ares shrugged. "I'm not going to tell you."
Aquarius rolled his eyes. "What could you possibly do to each other if you know what kind of pet they have?"
The elevator doors opened at floor twenty three. The zodiacs looked around in amazement. The floor was made from polished gold tiles. The walls were white marble. The hallways were lined with decorations such as small water fountains, plants, paintings and sculptures. The rooms were so large that only six bedrooms, a living room and a laundry room fit on this floor.
The pool room and dinning room each took up an entire floor alone.
Capricorn traced his hand over a pattern of diamonds that were embedded into the wall. "I feel so rich."
Vinn nodded. "I feel like a queen. Oh wait, I am one."
"I'll go find my room. Me and my unnamed pet will stay in the room farthest away from you!" Scorpio glared at Ares before unlocking her room door.
"I've lost all hope for those two," sighed Aquari.
"NO! CHEETO!"
Cheeto ran towards the others, ignoring Scorpio who chased after her.
"A CAT?" Ares lowered his pet carrier to the ground and opened it. A fluffy cat with white, black and brown fur crawled out.
Scorpio paused in the doorway to her room. "You have a cat too?"
Ares smiled and petted her. "Her name is Chaeseung, but I just call her Chae."
"It's impossible for someone like you to have such a cute cat."
"Poor Cheeto has to deal with you. It's okay kitty, we'll save you."
"I feel like I'm hearing an argument between two six year olds." Aquari pulled her luggage towards her room. "Do you guys need a babysitter to put you both in the timeout corner until you get along?"
"I wonder what the rooms look like." Aquarius pulled his luggage to his room and stared in awe.
The bedroom floors were made from gold tiles like the hallway, but the marble walls were fully engraved with various gemstones, not just a few diamonds. The bed was a four poster bed, and the bedroom was large enough for a dresser, walk-in closet, bathroom, nightstand, couch, small table surrounded by chairs, balcony, and with lots of room to spare. A large ceiling fan provided air conditioner, but so did a few vents.
"Look at the room service menu!" Capricorn found Aquarius and grinned. "There's all king of big meals, fancy drinks... Japanese candy imported from Cibus?"
Aquarius glanced at the room service menu. "I'm surprised there's alcoholic beverages on the menu. What's the legal drinking age here?"
"I'm pretty sure it's eighteen."
"Well, we're all eighteen. We'll be nineteen soon."
Vinn suddenly appeared out of thin air. "I just explored the other floors. There's one with this orb in the center of the room, and you can change the scenery around you based on what you're thinking of."
Aquarius smiled. "Sounds like the comfort room at the mansion."
"I have to FaceTime Scor and show him around. But what if he's sleeping? I have to fix my hair before I FaceTime him anyway." Vinn teleported somewhere else.
"I want the others to get to live in the class A section," explained Capricorn. "But I don't want to move down to a lower class."
Aquarius nodded. "I'll make sure I try my best to win now that I know what kind of treatment class A gets."
