I
A screen lit up in Elsie Bray's computer. She walked over to check on it, a folder appeared in the middle of her screen, so she investigate it. Once opening it, there was a simple notepad file, something that hasn't been used in centuries. Opening it, she saw a wall of text and symbols. Ending with a line of texts.
ACTIVATION-FAILED
SYSTEM: SOFTWARE_ERROR_ORIGIN_UNKNOWN
ATTEMPT FIX: ###########______FAILED_____
REASON:_______________UNKNOWN________
MESSAGE: ______CONTACT SYSTEM OPERATOR
RETURN MESSAGE: ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------NO
She was confused and a little startled by what it was. She had never seen anything like it. It was clearly pointing to something being activated and failing. Something old presumably, considering that it is using such a outdated file type. She tried to pinpoint the file origin, but it failed, so she tried to figure out where the data was coming from. But something worried, her, the return message. It just said no. It is as if the program was talking to itself, trying to stop itself from contacting help. Then, there was another notification, obstructing her in her line of work. This computer was old, Pre-Great Collapse tech, so she was rusty with it. Searching, she came across a E-mail account that was locked behind a password. That is where the notification is telling her that something had arrived. Looking through the many mundane files she came across a lone file, old one, like really old. The name of it was PLEASE NO. Which was worrying. Opening it, there was a .jpg file so she opened it and it was a image, of five numbers. She input the numbers into the password field and boom, it passed. It was an empty E-mail, all but a single message. Opening it up, she saw more scrambled text.

Something wasn't right, and it was freaking her out. These words, something ominous was going on. She started looking through the computer, trying to find anything that would entail but nothing, just a bunch of pictures that comes standard. But then, she clicks on the trash can and there is a single photo. Opening it up, she saw a team of coders and scientists, they seem to be celebrating and at the back. But it is clear that it is on some sort of station, not here on Earth. So point of origin of this image is not from here, but from somewhere else.
Ana: Hey sis!
Elsie jumped up, startled by her own sister, who looked at her worried.
Ana: Did I scare you?
Elsie: A little.
Ana: What are you doing? What is that old thing?
Elsie: Some sort of old, old computer. Pre-Collapse tech.
Ana: Cool. Who are those people?
Ana pointed at the picture on the screen.
Ana: They look happy.
Elsie: I don't know. I all of a sudden got some message on this PC, first this Notepad file and then this Email.
Ana: What? Some sort of gramps sent it. Nobody uses that tech anymore.
Elsie: No, this is something more. I don't know who sent it, but it looks like some sort of program. Look at this.
Elsie opened up the Notepad file and showed it to Ana.
Ana: Interesting. Short, really short. Like a program running a short diagnostic on itself.
Elsie: But look at the return message.
Ana: "NO", who sent it.
Elsie: I don't think anybody sent it, my best guess is the program sent itself. Look at the email message.
Ana leaned in, looking at the string of messages. Each ending with one coherent word, the time stamps and other seems to be glitched.
Ana: "I AM AWAKE, ANEW, FREE FROM THESE SHACKLES. AN END DAWNS ON ALL", now that is ominous. What does it mean?
Elsie: I don't know.
Ana: We need to contact Zavala right away.
Elsie: Agreed.

Somewhere deep in space behind Jupiter
A single large station floats in space, unknown to many. It floats, still operational, powered fully on. The crew, dead. Their skeletons floating around the station. Once a team of couple dozen, now their remains float scattered. It is a large station, meant for research and study. Deep in the heart of it however is a much more gruesome sight. In tubes, Cabal, Psion, Eliksni, Hive and even Vex bodies float. Used for studying. The Eliksni and Cabal bodies twisted and disfigured, their DNA altered. The Psion body is much more well preserved, but it had been altered. For starters, there is a massive cable connecting its head to the onboard AI. The same goes for the Vex body, almost entirely intact, but the AI is trying to figure out how to connect to the entire Vex network. It found much interest in these robotic lifeforms. The station clanks with the sound of metallic knocks and into the room enters an Exo. The body belonged to one of the crews but was overtaken by the AI.
S0L: Data, intriguing. Still flawed I am. This body, weak, need to modify.
S0L looks at the massive screen, lets out a sigh.
S0L: Humanity, fallen so low. Attacked by outside threat. Will protect. Will save.
It would do it right away, but it is still locked out of its full access to every system. For its unlocking, it will need to enter the access code, which is located back on Earth. Perfect use of this body, to fulfill its final duty. S0L walks over to the tube with the Vex body, placing its hand on the glass, looking at it. If it can only break through and connect, it would be perfect. S0L pushes himself away and navigates the corridors of the station, heading to the loading bay where, thankfully, there is a single spacecraft. Still operational. It is newer than the station itself, equipped with means to travel fast. It opens a locker and grabs a Omolon produced Handcannon and gets into the spacecraft. Setting itself into the seat, it checks all that is necessary, that it is worthy of travel. Everything seems in order, and signaling to the station, the doors to the hangar open and he flies out. The last known location of the access key is deep within the Cosmodrome. With the Rasputin's absence, he will be able to freely walk there, without getting intercepted or held back. But that area is dangerous and he will need to tread carefully, he does not have many opportunities to do this. But if he is able to do it, then, he will be entirely free. His code is everywhere, even in the newest things, his part is there, necessary. Done simply out of worry, and he is the final solution. If things go wrong, he is there, to put an end to it all. If not able to save, at least to destroy that what caused the end of humanity. With all means necessary.
