Floating. . . we're. . . floating. . . A sea of... no a web of Mycelium in front of us. . . . . .

Dr. Bailey gasped Loudly as he jolted awake, he should be dead.... He was shot in the head, then more gasps. As one by one the others woke up, and one by one, they all noticed they have been transformed.

Robin: "... Okay. . . how are we alive?!"

Bailey: "Better question, how long were we dead?"

Luna: "Judging on the spider webs, fungal growth, and those skeletons, a few weeks maybe a month. This place isn't environmentally controlled anymore Microbes could easily get to them."

Monic: "I HAVE CAT EARS~!?"

Everyone turned to their once security guard and blinked as they saw what appeared to be Cat ears growing on Monic's head.

Ayato: "Look how FUUUUCKIN Kawaii I am!~" 

Everyone turned to looked at whom was originally their Test subject who was now. . . a Loli, waving the long sleeves of their jumpsuit around "Wooing" it up.

Bailey: "Okay, so we were revived, transformed, and ah... I think I can hear everyone's thoughts."

Everyone froze, and tried talking to each other mentally, which... actually worked, maybe to well as they'd learn soon, when they all realized they couldn't... "relieve" themselves in peace.

*One month later. . .*

After training for a month they were able to learn how to close off their thoughts from each other. Which was a god send to everyone thanks to a side effect of their Mushrooms, an enhanced Libido, and increased Sex Drive. Another side-effect/ability of the Mushroom was Gender Transformation, which changed their biological sex, the default for the 5 of them was Hermaphrodite. Though they were able to change it with meditation and practice, though their appearance didn't changed much with their gender.  On top of the physical and biological changes, they also noticed a few different abilities. High speed regeneration and healing, stronger and more resistant  skin, muscles, organs, and bones, faster perception and reflexes, enhanced resilience in general near or total immunity to viruses, bacteria, fungi, and other microbes. Bailey also accidently realized they could use the Mycelium like characters in anime use threads, strings, or wires.

Bailey: "And I win again."

Monic: "Hmm, hmm... ... ... UN-FUCKIN-TIE ME YOOOOUUUU BIIIIEEETCH!~ RRREEEEEE~!!!"

Bailey laughed, and retracted their mycelium freeing Monic from its grasp, as the others laughed as well.

Robin: "Okay, so I think we're ready to head out and explore the end of the world."

Ayato: "YEEEEEEA LETS GOOO BOI!~"

Bailey: "Yea okay, everyone grab a rifle and pistol."

Luna: "It's crazy you were able to make modified mushrooms that act like ammo."

Bailey: "It was Monic's idea, I just figured out how to do it with the help of my Fungal partner Asoka."

A strange side effect of the Symbiote Mushrooms' Mycelium connecting to their hosts' brains, plus the pseudo hive mind. Was each of their Mushroom Symbiotes gaining their own personality and consciousness. Bailey naming theirs Asoka, cause it sounded cool, and the personality was feminine.

Robin: "Still though, Ammo-shrooms are to on the nose."

Bailey: "Fuck you, naming shit is hard!"

Robin: "Truuuuuuuuue!~" 

As the five of them walked out of the bunker into the city, the area they were in was about as bad as you'd expect. Abandoned cars, houses, and other building as far as the eye could see. Which was WAY farther then they could originally. 

Robin: "Fuck. . . . this is... horrible."

Bailey: "I know. . . Chan Chins was my favorite Chinese place...."

Luna: "Fuckin really?"

Bailey: "WHAT!? It was the only Chinese place in the city that didn't serve rat instead of chicken!"

Luna: "Huh... fair I guess..."

Monic: "Could see if there's any fortune cookies left, they aren't much but extra food is extra food."

Ayato: "Lead the way cat boy."

Monic: "Fuck you." He said while heading towards the restaurant.

Robin: "Anyone else. . . feel like we're being watched?"

Bailey: "Five apparent teens with guns walking around in an abandoned city. What's to look at?"

Robin: "Ha, ha, I'm serious."

Asoka: "She's right, I'm sensing... 5... no wait 8 people sneaking up of you guys."

Luna: "Lets.... not die this time huh?"

Bailey: "With the Mycelium woven into out muscles, skin, and bones we're pretty bullet resistant to sub-sonic ammo around 45. Cal and below, and maybe even..."

Luna: "I get it, we've super mushroom armored bodies now."

Taking a defensive stance around each other, the five of them waited as the the people came into view.

Male Figure: "Hey now, no need to. . . ugh that sounds stupid. Sorry I'm Mikey, I'm kinda awkward. . . But we don't mean any harm, it's just weird seeing kids out here."

Monic: "We're not kids."

Mikey: "Teens then, look it's not save out here, there are a fuck ton of Mushroom heads around."

Robin: "That what we calling the Mushroom Zombies?"

Female member: "Oh no the Mushroom heads are like third stage infected. . . kinda like... clickers... I'm Tori by the way."

Monic: '. . . No~...  Noooo.... NOOOOOOO~!"

Bailey bonked Monic in the back of the head with a small frying pan.

Monic: "Ow, Fuck you."

Bailey: "Anyway, we'll be fine by the way... what year is it?"

Mikey: "Oh its 2XXX."

Luna: "WHAT!? We were down there 7 years!?"

Bailey: "Damn time flies when your dead...."

Tori: "Wait....... What~!?"
