Chapter 10: Crossed Paths
Sparrow's POV
I recoiled as I stepped into Herobrine's palace. It had been a while and well..several things had changed from the last time I'd visited.
For one, there was a gaping hole on the ceiling, and every now and then, bits of wood would crumble to the floor. After closer examination, I realized that the dark, robust door I pushed past was riddled with sword marks, and bits of it looked scorch.
Herobrine was taking a beating.
I walked into the palace uneasily, Daisy clinging to my arm as I proceeded forward. She'd been extremely quiet since we reached the Nether. I was a little bit nervous for her, but then again, the Nether was the closest you could get to a living Hell.
Correction. It was a living hell.
"Fawn?" I said quietly, continuing to walk through the hall.
I stumbled out of the way as a black haired girl around the same age of Fawn bolted past me, her hair fairly short.
"Aha, idea!" She proclaimed, holding what seemed to be a phone in the air. "Let's instant this story to the end!"
Story? I asked myself mentally, and then shrugged. Seemed like they cared an awful lot about that phone of hers..perhaps..
Before the girl could react, I snatched the phone from her hand. She let out a gasp of surprise as she tried grabbing it back. Daisy tugged a random potion out of my pocket and threw it at the girl. She seemed to freeze in place, and a group of people shouted as they ran toward us.
The leader of the group skidded to a fault, and flinched as I looked at an old friend..and a new enemy apparently.
"Sparrow?" Fawn said uneasily, looking between the girl and me. "What are you doing here?"
"I-I wanted to help with the war preparations.." I mumbled quietly, and Fawn flinched. "It's just-"
Before I could say anything, Daisy grabbed the new girl's phone and smashed it again the ground.
Everyone went silent, including myself. The girl looked at Daisy with a look of disbelief.
"Did she just.." Fawn said slowly, looking at the shattered remains of the device. "Break the phone?"
Daisy nodded, with a smug grin on her face. "Yep, I did!"
"But we needed that!" David shouted, and Daisy recoiled from the harshness of his voice. "I'm sorry, but we could've ended the war!"
"How?" I asked.
"Well, maybe unfreezing Alma might help?" another person said, and I turned around to see a girl of eighteen with long brown hair, and with several freckles dotting their face. "I'm LovesitGirl."
A boy with bright green hair walked around Loves, and waved. "And I'm CallMeZeus."
"...Strange names." I said quietly, and then looked at Alma. "But still, let's unfreeze Alma first, shall we?"
The group nodded, and I pulled out a pale pink potion. Alma stiffened as she looked at the potion, and blinked her eyes shut. I threw the potion on Alma, and she stumbled forward, coughing.
"Never again, never again!" Alma coughed, patting her hoodie down. "Sparrow, I'd presume?"
I flinched. "How you know that?"
Alma let out a deliberate cough, and looked at me with the 'really' look. "First of all, Fawn said your name out loud. And second, I'm your Creator."
My head tried wrapping itself around this idea, like tying ribbon around a present. The ribbon flopped onto the ground lifelessly. Nope, didn't really get the idea.
"Creeator?" I enunciated, trying to wrap the concept around my brain. "Umm...you're the same age as me and-"
Alma facepalmed, looking at me. "When I meant 'Your Creator', I meant that I created you. As a character."
"Fawn?" I asked slowly, looking to Fawn for confirmation. She nodded, flinching. Didn't seem like she was too happy with the circumstances either. "And she's not joking."
Alma raised a hand. "Just curious, how many of you are feeling a negative response to my news?" Almost instantaneously, everybody except for Loves, Zeus, and Daisy raised their hands. "Thanks for being truthful."
"Erm..perhaps we should all go for now?" Loves said, standing behind Alma. "After all, you all may need time to process the news. Well, Sparrow especially."
Zeus nodded. "Yeah, we could wait outside. Heh, after all, no one wants to know that they aren't 'real'."
I flinched, and so did several others. Alma shot a glare at Zeus, who shrugged, and the trio walked outside, leaving the rest of us to look at each other silently.

Alma's POV
"We shouldn't be at each other's throats." I said quietly, looking at Zeus and Loves. "And Zeus, was the last line necessary?"
"Perhaps it was." Zeus said, narrowing his eyes ever so slightly. "It's no use hiding it from them."
"Oi, but-"
"Would the two of you be quiet?" Loves said, standing between the two of them. "Arguing won't help."
Alma flinched, and so did Zeus.
The ground of the Nether felt hard, and the bottoms of everyone's shoes were covered in soot and such. And for some reason, it was...eerily silent.
"It's unnaturally quiet." Zeus murmured quietly, looking at Loves and me. He'd answered my thoughts perfectly.
"It is." Loves agreed, and I nodded as well.
"Well, perhaps-"
Zeus yelped in surprise as a dart embedded itself into his neck, and he slumped to the ground, clearly out.
"Get under cover!" I shouted, looking at Loves. She nodded, and the two of us began to drag Zeus toward the cover of Herobrine's mansion.
I yelped in pain and disbelief as a dart managed to latch onto my arm, sucking my consciousness away from my being.
I managed to hear Loves shout my name, and a minute or two later, I heard her body fall with an unholy thump.
And with that, I blacked out, drifting into the abyss people called their 'subconscious'.

Been a while since I've updating, eh?
Anyways, thanks for reading!
