Chapter 61: Infiltrate
"It's located underground. Underneath the Planeptune Basilicom. In the forgotten nation, of Tari."
Hearing the word Tari made Alex tense up while leaving a confused Ed and Al as Kunsil just sighed.
When it came to Gamindustri's history, Alex didn't really know much about but he at least knew the bare minimum to get by.
All Alex knew of Tari was that it was the first ever nation to be run by a CPU well before the current four nations were ever established, and that Tari eventually fell from grace, as Planeptune would be built over Tari's remains with the specific location of the nation being directly under the Planeptune Basilicom.
While it was absolutely wonderful to have the location of the supposed impostor, there was just one issue about the location.
"Wait Uncle Roy. Isn't Tari........." trailed Alex before Kunsil finished his sentence.
"It's illegal for absolutely anyone, even the CPUs and Candidates, to enter Tari indeed any condition. Its been an order kept in place by Histoire for decades now. Reason why is because there could potentially be many deadly things in there within Tari's remains that no one up here even knows about." Said Kunsil.
"Y-Yeah. I remember a few years ago that Histoire had sent many of her guards to go find and then seal up all known entrances into Tari. Practically none are left and none have been found to this day." Said Alex.
Roy heard this and merely chuckled to himself.
"That's because no one outside of Planeptune has tried yet. How do you think we got the location?" Asked Roy with a smirk.
"No way. You actually managed to find an entrance!?" Asked Ed.
"Yep. A day after the 2nd incident, I sent a couple of our men posing as Planeptune Basilicom guards to go out and try their absolute best at finding an entrance by locating alchemical energy. Sure enough hidden deep in the forest was a entrance to Tari undiscovered and undisturbed by wildlife. My men suggested that it be safer to head to the entrance via air support. So we've rented out a helicopter for tomorrow morning. You four will be going to investigate the ruins and then report anything intresting." Said Roy.
The four nodded in agreement as Roy leaned back in his chair.
"Excellent you all agreed. Well then, you four are excused to leave my office."
The four nodded as they all eventually left Roy's office and closed his door.
Once Roy was left alone, he began to ponder to himself about the upcoming event.
'To what I was told, they said that the alchemical power they felt was off the charts. Even more so than a fully powered Philosopher's Stone. If that's indeed true, then I truly fear whatever lurks within the ruins. I just hope those four come back to me alive.' Thought Roy as he just hoped for the best outcome tomorrow.
[Later that day]
After spending the majortiy of the afternoon at HQ, Alex had finally made it back to the apartment complex, entering it and then closing the door.
As he prepared to immediately to go bed to get ready for the important mission tomorrow, he received a call from an unknown number.
He took a second to answer it until he finally did.
"Hello?"
"Is this Alex Mustang?" Asked a male voice
"Um, yes? Who is this?" Asked Alex back.
"Thank goodness. This is Otto Apocalypse by the way."
"Otto? Your calling me?" Asked a surprised Alex.
"Yes I know this is a shocker but there's a genuine reason for this call. I need to inform you about something odd that happened yesterday." Said Otto.
"Alright then I'm listening." Said Alex as he kept quiet.
"Yesterday in the afternoon, one of my colleagues as well as myself were suddenly attacked and pinned down by an odd fellow." Said Otto.
"Odd fellow? How exactly was he odd?"
"I could sense alchemical energy from him like you, however, the amount he exerted was drastically overwhelming. Trust me when I say that it was the most overwhelming feeling I've ever felt. Way more than a full powered Herrscher." Said Otto.
When he said that, it gave Alex a massive gut feeling in his stomach.
What if the person Otto was referring to was the impostor?
If that was the case then tomorrow was potentially life or death.
"I, see. Thanks for telling me Otto." Said Alex.
"Don't mention it. After all it felt right for me to warn you after all the help you did to end Kevin's reality." Said Otto.
With that Otto ended the call Alex walked to his room and laid on the bed, keeping quiet as he pondered over what he had just said.
'This just got way more serious now.' He thought to himself before he went to sleep.
[The Next Day]
The morning had came and went by fast and once noon had arrived, Alex, Kunsil, and the Elrics after meeting at the rendezvous point, were all airlifted by a helicopter and after a quick air lift, were dropped off a bit away from the entrance as to not alert any Planeptune guards' suspicion.
So after a short walk, the group of four arrived at a hidden hole on the ground in the forest.
After fitting through a tight squeeze, then disassembling and then reassembling Al's armor once inside, the four walked down the cave until eventually they saw an opening with a path leading down.
Once they had entered the opening and walked down the path, they had arrived.
[Location: Tari Ruins]
The four looked around and knew that they had to watch their step and surroundings for any large pieces of debris as well as pieces of debris potentially falling from above them as the large buildings, towers, and even basilicom that Tari had were still standing though they were obviously very worn down and withered away that one could potentially collapse at any possible moment.
With that, they decided to split up into pairs of two, Alex with Kunsil and the Elrics together.
Kunsil and Edward gave the other a flare gun and the two groups went their separate ways, exploring the ruins and trying to find anything out of the ordinary.
After a couple of minutes, Kusil had decided to fly around to find anything visible from the air as he shapeshifted into a crow and began to fly around which placed the flare gun into Alex's hands as he continued his search.
Seconsa turned into minutes.
Minutes turned into hours.
It felt like nothing was gonna be found.
That was until a flare went off as it was Edward who had pulled the trigger.
After a few more minutes went by, Alex and Kunsil arrived at their location as in front of Ed and Al was a covering which when lifted revealed a tunnel.
The four looked at one another before they all walked into the tunnel which was dimly lit by torched and candles.
After walking down what felt like hours, the four arrived at a large, dimly lit room with a throne at the center.
"This must be where the impostor resides." Said Kunsil. "Look around for anything suspicious."
They all began to look around the room trying to find anything out of the ordinary.
It took a bit until Kunsil found a map of Gamindustri with strange markings on it
'This, is strange. What does this mean?' He thought to himself.
Then, out of nowhere, a voice was heard.
"My my. To think some of my sacrifices would willingly come to me."
